Today we took a walk from our base at Encore to stop one last time at O'Sheas and say farewell. The cashier told us that it was to close Monday. So my wife and I bellied up to a $5.00 craps table, put down $100 and played for a bit and walked out with $78.00 & took home three $1.00 O'Sheas chips and a picture from across the street to put into a photo plaque with the chip for us and each kid. The best part...while playing, the women next to us tipped a full cup of undrunk beer under the rail at the craps table with her purse and spilled it on my wife's pants and my shoe. The shoe stuck to the floor while I played but sure didn't mind ~ ah, just like the ol' days.

Sounds par for the course of a typical O'Sheas experience ;)

The sweet vomit smell that Subway and the natural stench of place caused will be unforgettable. We will now need to peddle our drunken, drink spilling, dice tossing off the table habits to Casino Royale late night.

Sure is a different Strip than what I explored as a newbie in 1997, 18 trips ago! I kind of miss the old days, the old hotels, Nickel Nick's and all! I guess I appreciated some nostalgia with the glitter.

The cashier told me Harrahs is putting up a ferris wheel themed type casino, guess it's the fair for them.

We were just at a new candy store in the Venetian mall and it was run by Oompa Loompas! No joke!

I love this little hole in the wall and will miss it.
The craps and even the poker were always a lot of fun to play.
I'm going to make a trip down there today or tomorrow to get a couple of the $5 commemorative chips that they released for the 23 years of it's existence.

Had some fun times at O'Shea's over the years. Sucks that it's closing. One of the few places left on the strip not overrun with metrosexuals, eurotrash and LA trust fund babies.

I understand that Vegas is always changing. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

I kinda disagree. My wife and I are mid-40s and both overweight. Both of us melt in heat and humidity, so we both wear comfy shorts in Las Vegas... and we see a lot more people like us than we do the DBs and etc that are shown on TV shows. We still catch the occasional rerun of the TV show Las Vegas, and we never see "us" in the casino. Also, look at any casino website... you won't fund us there, either.

Then again, that crowd isn't in the poker room, Atomic Testing Museum, Valley of Fire, etc., so maybe I don't notice them.

I never visited O'Shea's. It kinda smelled and the leprechaun disturbed me. But after reading this thread I regret not having gone there. There are so many casino's that may be a little funky that will be gone one day. My next trip to Vegas will be a low budget trip based on some circumstances in my life. I think I'll plan on doing a low budget casino crawl and spend a little less time in the bigger spots.

So many memories at O'Shea's. I'm really going to miss the place. Last 10 years of trips out there I've been there. Some fun times some not so fun times, (beer pong being the not so fun time). My and my buddies were just discussing what we were goign to do on our next trip now? I bet we spent 6 to 8 hours a day there gambleing on average.

I spent a lot of time at O'Shea's before Harrah's ruined it. The blackjack was pretty good, the bar was fun, and who can argue with 75 cent Guinness (even if it did come in a plastic cup).

I mourned its death a long time ago, but it was still nice to walk by and remember the good old days.
