    My Trip Report

Time to wrap up this report with the last couple of days. We had to stumble out of bed fairly early on Thursday morning as we were scheduled to check out of the Orleans and move downtown. Woke up with the worst cotton mouth of my life and a bit of a hangover. Still, after some coffee and a hot dog from the sports book, I was ready to hit the gin and tonics again. JT must have been hurting as he was drinking sodas and water most of the rest of the trip and swearing he would never, ever drink that much again. We cabbed it down to the Lady Luck which would be our home for the next couple of days. Found a deal for a tower room for Thursday and Friday night for $78 including tax and that was just too good to pass up. For the price I have nothing bad to say about the place. It is a little worn and the bathroom had the worst toilet paper and toilet seat I've ever had in a hotel room. After the abuse our bodies had taken the night before, this was an amenity that we both noticed. A good enough place to stay but don't eat or gamble here. Have never had much luck doing either.

Went to the Main Street Station for a late lunch buffet and it was very good as always. Probably one of (if not the best) buffet values in town. I think we must have had the "best drink server of all time" again as the refills kept on coming. Thursday was very quiet. We spend some time gambling at the Plaza and did the tour of most of the other downtown casinos, playing a bit here and there. We spent a lot of time just resting and hydrating and getting our legs back under us after the day before.

Woke up early enough on Friday to have the free breakfast buffet we had gotten as part of our package at the hotel. It wasn't great but it isn't terrible. If nothing else, it got me a free couple of cups of coffee. We had decided to split for the afternoon as I wanted to hit the OG for a little quality time and he just wanted to hang around downtown and relax. Before making my way to the club, I played a bit here and there and kept losing everything and not even getting much play for it. I have to say that I had exactly zero luck playing downtown this trip. I never cashed a winning ticket for two days straight. Finally just gave up on even trying to win.

On the other hand, I hit the jackpot at the OG. Right after I arrived I was nearly assaulted by a hyper blonde and her friend, wanting to "molest" me. I politely declined but the friend decided to hang around anyway. We must have sat and just talked for an hour and a half. She never asked for a drink or a dance the whole time. Her stage name was Mallory and she was great fun to talk with and I had a great time. I finally figured I'd better head out and we retired to the back to do a few "dances." I wish I had more time to reward her for all the time she had spent with me but she had to go up onstage and I needed to meet up with JT back downtown.

After a quick meal of shrimp cocktail at the GG, we went over to the Plaza. The night before I had won two free tickets to the Comedy Zone on the "free slot pull" promotion out front. We figured we'd check it out. It was actually very good and the show ran for a good hour and a half. The comedian's name was Allyn Ball. If you ever get the chance, check him out. JT decided to head back to the room but I decided to make the most of my last night downtown. I hit the "grain train" at the Bayou and just had to have that extra shot in my Nuclear Kamikaze. Maybe it was because of my nearly empty stomach but I was already toasted half way through. Still I stumbled around downtown and played a bit here and there while finishing it. Probably a mistake. Made it back to the room at about 1:30 and, when I woke up 8 hours later, I think I was still drunk.

Kind of a rough final morning in Vegas but I survived. I finally ate a little something at the Fitzgerald's brunch as I had missed the free LL buffet. It was small but not horrible. Just stuck to the comfort foods and it was fine. We checked out and checked our bags and hung out for while downtown before heading for the airport. We made it back alive and glad we didn't have to be back to work until Monday morning.

All in all, a good trip. No luck gambling after the first few days and neither of us made it home with much cash. But we had some good times and I'm sure I'll be back planning trip #13 any day now. For those of you that made it this far, I thank you for following along. Have a great day.

Sorry you didn't win any moolah, but having a good time and just being in Vegas is what it's all about. Planning trip #13 says it all.

Excellent report. Did you walk to OG from Downtown? I've been wanting to check that place out.

Actually I DID walk to the OG. Despite some seedy surroundings, I really have never had any problems in that DMZ between the Strip and Downtown. I'd stay away at night but, during the day, I've never had a problem.

Sounds like you had a good time. That's the best part about Vegas. Even if you come home broke you always have a good time.

    Thanks for sharing.
