May 30 - June 3, Flights & Hotel Booked!

Me and Mrs. 'Jones' are headed to Vegas! We (mostly me) are 'jonesing' for a trip. Four nights booked at Harrah's at an average cost of $10 per night. Three nights free and one night at $39. Good thing the room is inexpensive 'cause the air fare is not. Southwest, roundtrip from San Antonio is $300 per person.

Not big fans of Harrah's, but for the price and location...

Any 'must dos' from any of you'se?

Ofcourse, there will be a trip report on our return.

Great! How did you get the free nights at Harrah's and the room for $39? Gambled a lot there?

$300 isn't bad since airfare has been high lately IMO. Where are you flying from?

I have gotten free offers from Harrah's twice, and I have almost no points on my card. Join their slot club and put a couple of points on and you will get free offers. You need to sign up for which Harrah's locations you're interested in.

 

Hey Jones, I'll be out there at the same time. I'm staying at The Orleans. I plan on playing Holdem pretty much the whole time I'm there, if you play maybe we can get together and play a session.

I'm flying out of Austin by the way.

Thanks for the well wihes and replies. I'm getting fired up for this trip. Some folks who post here and over at Las Vegas Talk are planning a meet for June 1st at Orleans. Could be fun. Some friends from here in Texas are thinking about coming at the same time - her parents live in Green Valley Ranch (a sub-division in the Henderson area not the hotel/casino). Shaping up to a great trip. 'Course, never had a bad trip to Vegas, yet!

VegasKathy - actually no. We are not big fans of Harrah's and have never gambled much there. We have Total Rewards cards. And, I think a lots of people received this offer from the marketing dept. 'cause the week after Memorial Day is pretty slow. Take bigalbr's advice and sign up for the players cards in places you'd like to get offers from. Yeah, air fare could be worse, its just that sometimes I'm able to fly Southwest out of San Antonio R/T for $199 per person.

TheDMan - look forward to the meet and hanging for a while. May even let you talk me into some Hold 'em. I haven't played poker in Vegas before. Prefer BlackJack and VP. Recently been practicing Texas Hold'em with the Hoyle software. Maybe?

mistermoe - hope we get to meet up at the LVT meet in Orleans on June 1st. Whoknows, TheDMan may talk us both into a session of Hold 'em. Good deal on the airfare.

I will be there about the same time as you all, June 2-8. I will be at the meet on the 2nd at Orleans as well. It will be in the Mardi Gras bar maybe you can make both meets.

 

Vegas Tonya - If we get over to Orleans on June 2 we will certainly look for the meet at the Mardi Gras bar. Have a great trip. You must be a California person - you seem to be in Vegas or Primm often?

 

Thanks for the info. The last time I was in Vegas was April 2002. As you see, I do not get there often. Can't wait for July 5th to arrive!

 

GVJ, yes I am currently a California person. I get to Vegas about 3-4 times a year. We go to Primm once a month usually.

Hope you can make the meet. Would be nice to meet people from the board.

I'll be there in 6 weeks 4 days.. 5/28-6/4.. I'll be at both Orleans' meets (staying there 5/31-6/4)

I played Hold em my one and only time at a casino .. at Orleans last September. I was nervou as heck but I won about $200!!

We should have them open a table just for us after the meet on June 1!

Tess - maybe they will let us open up a table for a session of Hold "em. Sure won't hurt to ask! See you and the gang in June.

Ok thats June 2 in the Mardi Gras bar at the Orleans, hum been there done that,, I just may need to do it again. That is a Thursday and I can't come till after work so I will get there about 5:30 ish.

My trip planning is driving my wife crazy. At least twice a day I ask her, "know what?" "What?" she replies, and I respond, "we're going to Vegas!" She just rolls her eyes. But, here in a couple of weeks she'll get just as excited as I am. The last few days I've found her at the computer playing Video Poker or BlackJack. Yeah, she's gettin' her 'jones' on. "Are we there yet?"

Are the good folks at Orleans preparing a banquet room for all the folks from this board and LVT who are going to meet at their hotel on June 1st and 2nd? This meet be HUGE!

No banquet, I can bring leftovers from lunch.

Come to think of it, it will be around dinner time. We'll have to eat before the meet. I have a feeling I'll be drinking.. so I better not wait until after, lol.

Too funny gotavegasjones because I think I'm driving my husband crazy too. Any time they show Vegas on T.V. I go ohhh we'll be there soon.

Taking my sister for the first time too. I keep telling her it is nothing like Reno, NV when we went in July 2003.

 

the next 3 weeks will drag by i'm sure.. but i can't wait.. i really need those 8 days in vegas!
