    My Trip Report

Just returned early this morning from 5 nites at the Paris, all comped. Traveled on SW out of Louisville with hubby, daughter and son-in-law. We usually do Sun - Fri but this trip was Thurs - Tues due to daughters nursing school spring break. We do 2 trips a year, March & August but hubby had to have a risky heart procedure that moved us off the 1st week of March. We love to go then so we can talk to all the poker pros at the pre-party at Pure for the Heads up Poker Tournament at Caesars each year...oh well, hopefully we can do it next year. :)
Flight was on time (4:30 pm) and we cabbed it to Paris - check in and up to the room before 5:30 and at a slot with drink in hand before 6! Life is good!! Didn't even try for any upgrades - received a view of the pool, Eiffel Tower and B fountains without asking. Glad we had the great new pillow top mattresses too....so comfy. Since we had a lot of comp dollars, bought all 4 of us the buffet of buffets 24 hr passes since the kids had never done that and everyone can just get what they want. Didn't venture too far that night....PH, Bally's, Flamingo, Bills, Bellagio, IP, O'Shea's...might have been all. It is nice that Paris provides comp room safe - hubby feels better putting all his meds in there. As a heart patient, he has a big bag he carry's with him on the trip and nice to have a free safe.
For us, one day blends into another in LV - we're not big party animals - but love to drink and gamble so LV is our adult Disneyland... lol We did do the pool time on Saturday and Sunday. Those big foo-foo drinks poolside at great... You can get 16 oz for $14 or the 32 oz in a big Paris cup for $19. We all did the big ones and everyone had a buzz going by noon... The bartender was very generous with the liquor too and they were delish. I totally recommend the margarita's and hubby loved the lemonade based one....had to grab lunch soon after to help us get thru the day. lol....cause you just have to have a drink at the slots everytime a waitress comes by....it is a "rule"....right? lol

We over to check out the Cosmo and must say we were all impressed - very tasteful and elegent with a staff that all seemed extremely well trained in customer service. You get $10 slot play for signing up for their cards too.
Saturday, after the pool time, thought we would run over to Ellis Island for a quick lunch. My boss is in town for a convention at Mandalay Bay and we invited her to join us - warning her that it is a "real joint" - not at all what she is used to but told her the food is always good. Well, I can no longer say "always" - I doubt that we will go back. Waited an extremely long time for our food and the waitress was no where to be seen. After about 25 minutes, one in the group ran down another waiter to ask for ours...she finally came out with our food. Did I say she was rather rude and had no personality??? well I'm saying it now! She could have been a concrete block! 3 in our group had steak and all 3 (ordered med / med well) were all burnt, dry and tough...nothing like we have experienced in the past. I was so embarassed and won't bother going again after all these years.

Sunday night we saw LOVE at the Mirage. Hubby and I are children of the 60's and big Beatles fans. He is also a musician who plays at least 8 instruments and has always said they changed the whole culture with their extreme talent. It was a special evening for us. Picked up many things in the gift shop - expecially for our 21 yr old granddaughter who is a huge fan since she was about 10 years old. Even named her little dog - Jude!

Either there were some large conventions or the economy is no longer stopping people from traveling because the streets were crowded most of the time. Many more kids and strollers than we've seen before. Why go to LV with 4 kids under the age of 10 with at least one in a stroller? I just don't get it. I can't tell you how many times we saw security make families take their kids out of the casinos (at least one of the parents were sitting at a slot).

Pretty early Saturday morning, we noticed a leak in the bathroom ceiling causing a puddle on the floor which we reported. Great! - we had to pack up and move to another room after settling in for the full 5 nites....grrrr. Went to the Platinum check in to discuss - the clerk - an older lady would not win any awards in Customer Service! She was abrupt and condecending when I stated that I hoped they would be providing an upgrade for this manditory move. She said "And why would we do that"? WHAT? - did she really say that to me? I'm the Customer Service Center Manager for a bank call center and we truly try to WOW our customers on every interaction - I was stunned by her response. Should have asked for a supervisor immediately but we were on a tight schedule with folks waiting on me so I let it go. I did, however, send an email today asking for a response to my complaint. We'll see what happens. We love the Paris and everyone else we encountered were truly good at their jobs and friendly - so her attitude is obviously not contageous....lol

Finally, after a completely wonderful trip, we headed for the airport, not quite ready to return - I just never am - always want a day or 2 more. :) We were warned that there was bad weather we might encounter getting back to Louisville. The flight was not bad at all but we had to fly far, far north to miss most of the bad weather. When we landed, finally getting to a gate after waiting on other planes that were diverted to SDF because of the weather, the staff began shouting at us to "get off the plane immediately" - do not take the time to get your carry-on luggage. They were literally pushing the people up front to get moving because there were 3 tornados over us. They even had the people in the airport terminal in the bathrooms and stairwells. Had to wait quite a while on our rain-soaked luggage and for the all-clear to drive on the streets. It was crazy and scarry. Flight was due in at 12:10, we arrived about 12:40 - up to the gate at almost 1am or so and didn't get home which is usually a 15-20 minute ride until about 1:45. Sure had an exciting ending to a wonderful trip.

Starting a new countdown to August.... :):)

Glad trip was good overall. I'm going to place a bet that the rude person at Platinum is the same one that BFF encountered when we went in March. I had a wonderful lady in Diamond & then went out to join BFF & her husband & boys at Platinum check-in. They were checked into their room (non-smoking). The boys went to check into their 2 rooms & were told there were no smoking rooms available as the hotel was oversold. They would have to take n/s & move rooms the next morning. The boys were firm & indicated they were not amenable to that idea (I really figured they would just do it LOL). The desk clerk was NOT amenable to any changes. However after several minutes of reminding them the rooms were booked over 5 months ago she finally agreed to move them to 2 Red Rooms that were smoking. So they ended up with an upgrade, but boy was that a sullen woman. I just about drug the boys back to the Diamond check-in to avoid the woman.

Wonder if someone overflowed the tub in the room above you LOL!!!

Couldn't agree with you more on the "kids in Vegas" opinion. Sounds like you all had a great time. Thank, God, you avoided the tornados. Wow!!

Yep, one of my main rules, lol.

Great report, thanks for posting. Pretty scary about the tornadoes!

sabrina, not sure where you are in KY but we are about 25 minutes from Horseshoe So Ind (previously Caesars SI). It is our home casino and since they made the change to Horseshoe - the events have been pared down and payouts fewer. They need some updates on newer machines too. It can still be a fun place and the hotel is nice but we have so many to choose from within a 90 minute drive....we are venturing out to others when we can even tho we lose out on our comp points for our LV trips. The Hollywood Casino near Cincinnati is probably the best right now and we enjoy Belterra too.
