    My Trip Report

Got the $17 + tax deal, arrived Sunday pm after long quiet flight (virgin from Gatwick uk.), pick up hire car then on to Orleans, Rm. 1776 end of corridor long walk from elevator but quiet which is what we wanted, bed was fine but pillows need to be replaced (soft foam). Great late night steaks @ $2.95.
Tuesday night cannel street, we booked and it was very busy so glad we did, I had rib eye with plum and barbeque source, she had fillet minion both very good but was not very impressed with the chocolate mousse but it was free with the fun book. This is now competing with steak house @ CC to be our best choice dinning in Vegas.
Cox high speed internet in room @ $9-99 worked well after dial up via phone cost $13 for about 3 hours, very noisy ac in room made for one good reason to move on to harrahs much quieter ac plus the pillows are better and it is free, however both coffee shop and Asian restaurants are closed at the moment, more in the harrahs TR to follow
Excellent value stay at Orleans large casino to keep the boss entertained and internet for me, we did have a car ( 230 pounds from Alamo for 2 weeks) so trips shopping and to Wal-Mart on Charleston for room supplies broke up the days, weather has been fine, high 60’s, unlike the rest of US and the UK.

Forgot to mention Orleans 15 min check-in parking area stage left (north) of the main entrance also the glass doors by the shoe shine on the way to the hotel lifts will take you outside, if you keep going straight (West) then in through the fire doors you will find you are by the north west covered parking garage, we always found a place to park on the ground floor.

We usually manage to visit vegas between 4 or 5 tines a year, we use any deals we can find for the flight, this time the evening standard had a deal with virgin, in the past we drove to Manchester to take a direct flight with air tours / my travel, I believe British Midland have taken over that route, we also take US airline deals with stop overs.
I don’t gamble so secondhand from my partner, she only played slots at Orleans and enjoyed herself there about 4 hours a day, late night / early morning, got about $80 in comps over 4 days she liked the men in black slots which where new to her. Food was ok gambling ok cocktail service ok room ok all at the right room rate thanks to this board.
Now at harrahs and fighting to get a internet connection, $9-99 per day wireless from imperial palace (we have had to move rooms to get a better signal) harrahs has a wireless signal but no one wants to talk to me about it “we don’t have wireless yetâ€

    Internet??

I don't understand why that is so important.
You're in Vegas.... :D ...the last thing I would want to be doing is sitting in my room hooked up to the internet. I can do that at home. I sure wouldn't spend time doing it in Vegas. I remember reading other reports of yours and it seems to be a high priority. Do you need it to keep up with your business in UK?

That's just me though, to each their own.

Glad you found some good room rates for your trip

    Good info on Orleans.

I don’t gamble and we have a 10 hour flight so 10 days to 2 weeks stay seems reasonable to make that flight, the weather compared to London makes the trip worth it for me plus the shopping and food this and keeping the boss happy. So for myself internet gets me away from the Vegas mind set as 2 weeks would do me some kind of permanent damage, as a holiday it is the same price as Spain or Italy but Vegas has guaranteed weather and I can go to Paris in 5 mins and it has very few French people there, another 5 mins. away, Venice without the smell, then we have Rome with AC and no flies. I don’t need to sell Vegas to this board even without the gambling, it’s just that in 2 weeks I need some contact with the “normal†world

    Interesting.
No doubt, you are a different breed than most T2Vers, but I enjoy hearing about Vegas from different perspectives.
Now don't let this internet thing keep you from getting out and about.

    chef,

you got it friend.....turn the damn computer off and get out and have fun.......try some penny slots, wander the strip, see a show, have a few beers a Vegas lounge.

quote - "in 2 weeks I need some contact with the “normal†world"

Is the "normal" world the internet? If it is for you, I feel sorry for you.

That's one addiction I wouldn't want to have or to have to try and overcome.

Where did you find this deal? I am hoping to find a similar rate in June.
