    My Trip Report

My fiance' and I went to Vegas and here's what we did on our winter vacation(unfortunately this won't be as exciting as some of the reports I've read, I'll try to make a bigger fool out of myself next time)

We got into Vegas around 8pm and took a shuttle to the Orleans(Never EVER take Bell-Trans) check in took approximately 45 seconds, including a strip view room(1140)which was outstanding. The room was large and beautiful, and being 6'6" tall, I was pleased that the shower head was 7 feet high.

We changed clothes and went down to check the place out, we ate at the courtyard cafe' and were very pleased with the quality and price of the food. She played slots for a while and won about 50 dollars and I played 3 card and broke even after about an hour of play. we were tired so we crashed at about midnight.

    1/14

We woke up around 9 am and took the shuttle to Barbary Coast and explored the strip for a while, concentrating on Bellagio and that area. We walked through Bellagio stopped in the conservatory, which was being decorated in Chinese New Year. She is a shopper so we went to the shops in the Bellagio and after dragging her out kicking and screaming we went to the Desert Passage shops at the Alladin and walked around there for a bit. We took quite a few pictures of the strip and walked to Caesar's for(surprise)more shopping. I was surprised and happy that the FAO Schwatz is still there and we walked through it and I took some pictures of the giant horse and the moving statues. We bought tickets to the Hypnolarious show at Bourbon Street which was a good show, especially for my fiance since I was one of the people who was selected to go onstage and be hypnotized, we bought a tape of the show and now I realize why they called me the star.
After I got all the makeup and lipstick washed off of my face from the show we went back to our hotel for some gambling and R&R we played until about 2 am when she went back up to the room. I told her I'd be up in a couple hours.....well..............um, I misjudged a bit as she came and found me at the same blackjack table at around 8:30 am, and she was slightly less than pleased, but she got over it.

    1/15

We went to See Mac King in the afternoon, definitely worth the money, and I didn't have to get onstage and have makeup slathered all over me. walked the strip stopping at the Venetian to visit Madame Tussaud's museum, this place is amazing! I got my picture taken with some of the biggest celebs....EVER!!! We then went to Fremont Street, where we spent most of our evening. We stayed at the Golden Nugget a year ago December and we went back in to say hi to the old girl. We watched a few of the new FSE shows and I was amazed at how good they were! really good stuff, much better than the old shows, although I'd like to see a couple of the older shows done with the new technology.

Back to the Hotel and I did a little better, She went to the room around 2:30, and I made it back around 5:30 am.

1/16 We went to the outlet mall by the airport and walked around for a while and then went back to the strip and concentrated on the south end. not much else to tell except a lot of sightseeing. we got back to the hotel around 10pm and gambled for a bit...well I gambled until it was time to go take my shower for the flight home the next morning.

1/17 After I took my shower and got packed to go, we went outside to wait for our return shuttle to the airport. The shuttle was suposed to arrive at 8:15 and at 8:30 I called them and asked if they were running behind, and they said there was a bus on the way....well.......at 9am(our flight was cheduled to leave at 10:30) I called them again and this time they said that there wasn't a return shuttle scheduled to arrive at the Orleans until 10pm and called me a liar and said I never called to arrange a return and were very rude to me in general(By the way, the name of this wonderful shuttle company is Bell-Trans, which will never get my money again, and hopefully not anyone else's either) so we caught a cab and made our flight ok.

Well, that was our winter vacation, I'm sure I left oput some things, but all in all we had a great time and we'll be back for our honeymoon in October!

The only problem with the Orleans is the location. I wish it were closer. If it were where Bourbon Street is, it would be the perfect hotel.

Funny you mention about the Bell-Trans shuttle (I can't do a quote here because I can't figure out how it works, I've tried, lol). Anyhoo, we bought RT tickets but no one ever told us we had to call to get picked up to go back to the airport. We thought we could just call that day we had to leave. Of course our flight was leaving at 11am and we were going to the airport at like 7am. Ended up taking a taxi because the shuttle would not be there in time (we were at the Tropicana Hotel) which is close to the airport.

So, when my hubby, sister and I go in July '05 I've already determined it is either going to be a taxi ride to and from airport OR a limo ride. Celebrating 40th birthday and I think a limo ride would be the best!
