  1. Drink finally in hand, I run into Bill again on the patio. He’s come to say goodbye and remind me of the arrangements he has made at several venues. I know he can’t stay out late, as he is leaving for CA in a few hours for the holiday weekend, so I wish him a Merry Christmas and bid him a safe journey, assuring him I’ll call if I run into any problems.

It’s local ladies night at Mix and the club is filling up fast, making it nearly impossible to stand quietly on the patio and enjoy the view without being constantly bumped from behind. So making my way back up to the bar level, I wander past the foyer near the elevator and find on the other side, a little hidden oasis.

The small circular bar is nearly empty, only a handful of patrons fill it’s 10 chairs. Made of glass and gleaming metal accents, it is cut in an art deco style. Uplit with soft golden shadows against the black tile floor, its surfaces are accentuated by sharp angles in red and blue, giving it the illusion of twirling in mid air. My first thought? It looked like something they claim crashed in Roswell 60 years ago. :D

At least it was a place to sit down, refill my drink… and it had some light. The tripping incident (as Jack puts it) happening only a few moments before. But as I approach the bar, I have to revise my first thought… it’s more like Star Trek. Standing on a slim metal base in front of each one of the chairs circling the bar is a glass serving tray. Reminding me of that episode with Charlie and the three-level chess game.

I slide into an open seat and one of the two bartenders on duty comes over to greet me. At my request for Bacardi and coke, he shakes his head. No Bacardi here, you’ll have to go over to the other bar for that drink. I’m thinking…. Huh? Isn’t that like saying, sorry no Jack Daniels?

While I’m contemplating my options, the gentleman sitting in the chair next to me turns from his companion. (You drink Bacardi and coke? So do I.) My second thought: Oh really… so do a zillion other people. But I refrain from adding that comment and instead reply. Apparently, not at this particular bar. *raise eyebrows* The man laughs, holding up his martini glass containing a lime green foo-foo drink. In that, you are correct.

I’m not interested in a green lime thingy or anything else, except rum. So I ask the bartender what kind of rum DOES he have. Reaching under the counter, he pulls out a stout, roundish bottle with a gold leaf label. Barbancourt

I turn to the man next to me. Ever heard of it? He admits, he has not. But then quickly adds. Should we try it? I figure, why not. The bartender smiles, filling two new glasses with ice and pouring a particularly generous serving of the wicked brew. Heavier than Bacardi with a slight licorice aftertaste, it does a fine job of disguising its potency. [IMG]

The man next to me signs off on our drink order ($15 a pop) and we make a rum toast before he leans in to ask. What is that incredible smell? His smile is sincere and his eyes are holding mine with a look of keen interest...

Lacy. I reply laughing. A scent that is truly my own.

He laughs as well… and I like the sound of his laugh. Hardy and heartfelt, just like mine. The twinkle of mischief in his eyes belies the reserved manner and I decide to stay a few moments to find out if there is indeed a wit beneath to match.

He introduces himself (for these purposes ;) Greg) and also his friend. They arrived earlier today from LA to attend the UNLV game (the start of which is now a little over 12 hours away) and will be returning to LA the late evening.

Busy listening to their adventures at THEhotel’s casinos, bars and restaurants earlier that day, I absentmindedly place my small handbag on the glass tray in front of me and move to set my drink down on the bar…

.. and it promptly slides off, shattering at my feet. (What the hell?) I only had one so far, honest! The illusion of a flat surface is only that. The bar is ever so slightly curved and the bartender just shrugs his shoulders (happens all the time) as he deftly refills my drink. (If fact, it happens to at least 4 other unsuspecting guests just while I am sitting there. *sigh*

And now I’m thinking, great… I smell like Lacy in a rum drunk. But Greg is laughing again. (It splashed him too.) Holding up my fresh glass, he clinks his own against it.

Here’s to holding your liquor. :D

What?.....no elevators this time? C'mon, Lacy...yer bringin' me down.

In earlier segments, we got it that you are tall, buxom, leggy, and of course, witty...now I believe we can safely add fragrant and, more importantly for my own kicks, clumsy. I guess being vertical is not some womens' forte.

And oh, by the way, your descriptive use of a 37-year old Star Trek episode helps date you a bit more. But hey, I hear the geri crowd has it goin' on.

SO, Mr. Rum Guy has twelve hours to kill, eh? [IMG]

It was not technically a trip. More of an unexpected slide. Which doesn't count cuz there was no one around to see it. :D As for the drink, ahhh well... a little unintentional humor. ;)

You never heard of reruns? [IMG] [IMG]

The night is still young. I've only actually HAD 1 drink remember. So I promise the next installment will include an elevator ride (and that bonus taxi ride) to the next stop... dancing. :D

Well, to quote Cosmo Kramer "I'm out!". This is longer than War and Peace. I take it there are still numerous installments left...

    My thoughts exactly, blackjack.

Not sure it matters when you watched it -- if you think in Star Trek metaphors (as I do  ) thats TMI in some circles...

OMG...having experienced the "fun" of HowardSternChick in action on another Vegas board, I bet Lacey does really appeal to her  .

Actually, I'm pretty sure they are the same person.

I can assure you KKaisern that Lacy and I are not the same person. I require sophistication, I don't accept cocktails from men that have no potential. I've got higher standards than that. Plus coke has way too much sugar for me. Remember, I don't do sugar or red meat.

I have found the 'Illusion' part, or is that delusional?

How do you recall the details? Seriously, how? I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning.

Do you have a line of credit at an unnamed strip club?

Keep it up, Lacy. It's your story, tell it any way you want to. Keep in mind, as for fiction, the character that previously used the Jedi mind trick to get somebody to muck a hand at a 1-6 spread game is in solid position to garner a bronze medal.

Will the line "Why does it hurt when I pee?" appear at anytime in this story?

    Lacy-

Well written, and entertaining TR... However, can you give us a little more in each installment? It's been three days and you're maybe 2 hours into your trip!

Looking forward to, and waiting for more...
