    My Trip Report

Just got back in after the red eye----too tired to sleep after unpacking---came home with mixed emotions.....
After fighting a huge crowd at baggage claim at McCarren flew through the taxi stand and got to NYNY at 11:30 AM---checked in-- no upgrades to a room with a jacuzzi available till sunday---but she did give us an upgade to a larger room with a view no charge no $20 trick necessary--up to the 26th floor--room key doesn't work--I go back down to get new key--leave my wife with suitcases--get back 10 minutes later to find my wife being interrogated by a security guard--had to assure him he was my wife....room had a great view of the roof below and the MGM--oh, well...don't plan on spending much time here anyway....

Lunch at Margaritaville and 4 margaritas each later we are wandering through the forum shops with a great buzz---let it be known my wife can shop with the best of them....but this place is beyond comprehension...4 hours later---who buys this stuff???How do they stay in business with the rent they must pay??? We asked as we had another Margarita at the cantina in the Forum....
Walked to the Bellagio--no Xmas display yet--they are working frantically on it---bummer---go to the casino, play around a little here and there-- but my wife is more occupied watching people have $100 chips swept away in the blink of an eye--went to the buffet--people acted like they never saw crab legs or cream brulee before--but it was very good--I skipped the weird stuff though...sorry no buffalo for me
Back to NYNY after dinner--in the casino till my eyes crossed--I picked up a real attitude towards single deck blackjack--win one lose one win 2 lose 3 win one lose two shuffle shuffle shuffle shuffle shuffle....bed by 1:30 to regroup

Over to the Hard Rock Saturday late AM just because I wanted to see it--nice place but what a kiddie casino--then the Venetian for shopping... then the Imperial House--had a great BJ dealer and was kicking butt till they took him away and so went the luck--back to even--which I still say is a win in this town---then back to NYNY for dinner at Il Forinianotinawhatever---very good-- then over to the Luxor for the Blue Man Group--the show is better the second time--played the camel races--NOBODY hit on anything---back to NYNY in the casino till 4:30 while my wife slept--it was like Soddam and Gammorrah in the casino at night--girls making out with girls at the craps tables--couples dry humping by the slots--testoterone filled youths and cowboys running around and women cursing like sailors---went to bed and didn't wake up till wife called me at 9;00 when she was done at the Spa--over to the Paris buffet to try the crepes--very good-- dubbed the chef making them the Crepe ****... know what you want, say it and get the hell out of here...food was excellent....shopped the Alladin with wife then seperated--she went to the fashion show mall and I went back to the NYNY to waste time till Steeler game kick off @ 5:30---FINALLY a great dealer and a fun table at the NYNY--had a great BJ session with 4 girls from Denver--walked away with my money when they changed dealers--went over to the MGM to gamble for the first time--YIKES!! Mean dealer--cold table--after 1/2 hour and getting my ass kicked I put the amount I was down on the table and held my breath got a 19--dealer showing a 10 the had a 4 then a 2 (gulp) then a 6---the BJ Gods smiled on me--I RAN out of that casino--never again....

Watched the game @ ESPN with wife after she told me how much she spent I realized i was down for the day--Steelers won but didn't cover--I should know better than to bet on them--but had agood time with fellow fans watching the game--played around in casino till 1:00--on a whim took a cab down to the Orleans but the waitresses were wearing clothes because it was Rodeo week--drat--played blackjack and fought to stay even--back to NYNY and bed at 3:00....

Monday Fremont street--I really like it there--had a BJ dealer @ 4 Queens named Ray from Chicago and he IS the dealer from Vegas vacation--but he was funny and fun and had me in tears--ridiculed me when I went against basic strategy--laughed when he pulled 5 card 21--hummed while people decided on cards---it was great--called me a pussy when we had to get back to the Strip---

Back to NYNY--dinner at Gonzales--pretty good stuff--and after a couple of hours went to the airport--pretty crowded for 11:00 had a rock and roll turbulant flight all the way home--but I'm even...

Random thoughts.....why are ther people in this world that sit down at a $10 table with $20 and act shocked when they lose it.....belly shirts, silicone, thong underwear EVERYWHERE....hey, we have half priced show tickets over and over....DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS TO VEGAS!!!! They hand out porno in the street here for Gods sake!!!---your children don't want to be here, they are bored and they hate you for bringing them here--get a clue--you suck as a parent if you bring your kids to Las Vegas--PERIOD--How can so many people say they won when all I saw was people getting beaten left and right--there were games I played in that prisoners have better first dates with...Cab drivers in Las Vegas are the most interesting people on earth----be nice at the baggage claims at the airport--it was like a hockey game down there--if you have a 6 month old baby and not married, you should not be in Las Vegas with your girlfriends and you know who YOU are and nobody said life was fair (call me old fashioned)---if you don't have enough money to tip, don't go on vacation here---stop bitching to people that have no control over what you are bitching about... stop stopping in the middle of aisles in casinos to talk, be considerate and move to the side...cocktail waitresses don't like working the slots because so many people leave after they order a drink--maybe they wouldn't leave if you took less than a 1/2 hour to bring the drink.....maybe it was me, but the drink service in most casinos was really slow....I'm getting cranky--I better take a nap....

    Funny trip report.

I can understand going to the Orleans to check out the waitresses, too bad they were wearing "clothes"!

My five-year-old loved Vegas. From his point of view, it was doughnuts and carnival rides. Guess I suck as a parent [IMG]

I did notice most of the older kids (but too young to get in casinos) were LOCALS messing around before curfew.

"-it was like Soddam and Gammorrah in the casino at night-"

And I missed it! Do you think this was the NFR crowd particularly, or just a good night? BTW, nice report.

Fun read with a good rant bonus at the end [IMG]

Sounds like you got overshopped a little bit.

I'm with you on leaving the kids at home. We didn't bring ours last time we went even though they whined and begged to go. They're 22 and 24 years old, they can find their own way.

Great report. And I agree, Vegas is MY DisneyWorld! I'd leave the kiddos, if I had any, at home and enjoy grown-up time.

Nice report. I personally don't think that parents who bring their kids to Vegas suck. Some people bring along a relative or friend to take turns entertaining the younguns. Nothing wrong with that. There is still plenty to do for kids (MGM, Excalibur, Circus Circus, etc.). Now if the kids are teens and running around the strip unsupervised picking up porn, then I have to ask "where are your parents???". I have also been on the strip well after midnight & seen parents wheeling around crying babies in strollers. This makes me want to bitch slap mommy, but alas I don't comment cause there might be something I don't know & after all, it's none of my business.

I loved the part about the dealer at the 4 Queens. Reminds me of Frank from Brooklyn at the Mirage. That guy was the best.

Great report but I must say that my ten year old son and 15 year old nephew love Vegas. They hate it when I go without them.

Nice trip report. And thanks for reminding me to stop at the Orleans. I was down during the rodeo also, but i didn,t notice any girls making out downtown. And trust me i would have noticed if there were some. Did notice some guys get in a fight on the escalator. Probably over who had a bigger belt buckle. One of them was going to use a broken bottle, but security took it away and away they went.

Sorry parents, but the image of the little girl at the Excalibur holding 2 balloons and watching her Mom and Dad playing slots will be with me for a long time....or the (15?) year old girl on the tram from the Luxor telling her parent she had to get back to the room to do her homework....or people tripping over strollers....or the bored look on so many kids faces....sorry, I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule, but most kids I saw looked like they would rather be at the dentist office than being dragged around Las Vegas by their parents---what is there for them to do that only last for a few hours (i.e. Circus Circus, Excalibur arcade and NYNY arcade and a few lame roller coasters?? I would have trouble keeping my wife entertained if it wasn't for the shopping and unique menus...I don't feel the place is set up for family fun and after peeking into the dark side of so many people over the past few days, I really believe there is not a wholesome atmosphere appropriate for children in strollers as people around them drink and curse...I guess I am old fashioned that way...I promised my 11 years old son my present to him for his 21st birthday will be a father/son outing at Las Wynnville (if there is any water left) and he is bummed---but when I am there now my itinerary has no room for entertaining children---if you want to go there and there is no way to leave the children behind I guess life just stinks , but to bring them there and punish them just ain't right---

Thank you for the complements on my post for those of you that enjoyed it..as Ray the BJ dealer @ $ Queens told a lady after he just had 2 blackjacks in a row after she asked him how could he do that...."They're my cards lady, I can do whatever I want!"

You raise some valid points, and I can see how you feel about kids in your world in Vegas.

    But... to quote you directly:

"stop bitching to people that have no control over what you are bitching about"

I think this can be said about kids in Vegas. Opinions aren't going to matter, and we can't make people change... so I agree... let's stop bitching about what we can't change. There will always be kids in Vegas.

My son enjoyed the heck out of CC because Vegas meant a whole different thing to him than it does to me.

More importantly... I'm sure as hell not going to skip Vegas and leave my son at home when the whole family is meeting there from various parts of the country. This was our get-together for the family, and I can see where many folks do this.

I saw a heck of a lot more local kids on the strip up to no good than I did families with kids on vacation.

Not to hijack Steeler fans good report but to tie into the replies,
Vegas has become a "family destination" and competition has necessitated it. However, I think some resorts should do like in Jamacia and have adults only! That way, for those that want a more "romantic" or "peacefull" setting, then they can go there as an option...
They could even have a "Hedonism" Las Vegas resort!
