    My Trip Report

My Aria Nightmare, After waiting in line for 45min to checkin we finally made it up to our rooms. The dust in the room was horrible(you could write your name in it), called down stairs and they said they have no other rooms available at this time. Called house keeping and they said would send someone up.We had to dust it our selfs. went to close the bathroom door and the handle fall off(it was still laying on the floor upon checkout) We had Elvis show tickets reserved 2months in advance for the Saturday show so went to the box office and after waiting inline for 2hours they did not have them(there are 5 of us) they told us that they can seat us seperate if we wanted to go or come back for the Tuesday show. We decide to come back for the Tuesday show and they would give us a free ticket, so we paid for 4 got 1 free. the next day I has playing my free play and after playing $10 of it the machine said it was gone(I had $200 FP) walked over to Playersclub and after talking to 3people nothing could be done about it. (This also happened to 2 other people in our party) The next day we got locked out of your rooms not once, but twice. After standing in line twice in 1 day to get new room keys and talking to several people, they decided to give us credit for 2 more show tickets. By this time everyone of us are fed-up with Aria and decide to checkout and finish our stay at Harrahs. When we checked out my statement showed the credit for the 3 tickets, I was only charged for 2 that was fine. We came back on Tuesday to see the show (everyone liked it). When I got my credit card statement they recharged me for the Show tickets. I called and talked to Rose Nostrad in Accounts Receivable she was the rudist BITCH and didn't want to hear anything I had to say and told me to dispute it with my credit card company. I did and my credit card company talked to her in there report and could not do anything, so I called Tom Mageros the slot host, he said he was sorry to hear about this and that he forwarded my email and I would hear something back soon. It has been 6weeks still haven't heard anything. So needless to say ARIA will NEVER se me AGAIN.

Holy crap.....sorry you had such a bad time. Hopefully you had some fun and can write and remember those parts as Vegas is too special to have only bad things happen.

when did you stay at Aria? no other rooms available?

I had a crazy experience at Caesar's once where the wife & I slept on the floor (because they gave us a room that was being remodeled...no bed) and haven't been back since

    Aria Stay

Its was The end of november, They even overbooked the hotel by 1000 rooms that weekend. I can see 100, but 1000 someone doesn't know what they are doing.

Aria has a tendency to screw over some unlucky guests that arrive particularly late (like my brother did - got into Vegas at 10pm and his 1 King room was magically turned into a 2 Queen room with nothing available unless THEY called the front desk back the next morning to check for availability). I've read about Aria targetting/positioning themselves as a high-end destination, but they can be as such without the snootiness/bitchiness/arrogance.

Check in is quite unbelievable at times. To be fair, the resort is particularly huge, so checking in or out around the posted check in/out times can be rather frustrating. Many reports of bad service and hosts/staff that are particularly rude. I haven't seen this in my experience and most have been very accommodating so perhaps I'm lucky.

Aria has over 4000 rooms, not including suites. Overbooking 1000 rooms sounds a bit far-fetched. No idea why they would admit to that nor what crack they were smoking if this were indeed true. Definitely hope my next trip there in April won't be anything near what the OP experienced!

In my 30+ years of travel, there is only one time where I abandoned a hotel after checking in. The name of the hotel - Aria. I spent over an hour looking for alternative rooms after checking out and replaced my fully comped (w/ Freeplay & Dining) room with a paid room at the El Cortez (vintage first night, tower the remainder of the trip (sold out the first night). I was glad I did it.

Check in took 45 minutes at 6 PM (regular Friday - no holiday or other special event that weekend) and they had trouble even finding me a room (which I reserved months in advance). The room they provided was OK until the loud partying carried on at the next room (people were literally bouncing off of their walls). They had no other room options when I went downstairs to request another room. I wasn't feeling well and knew I wouldn't be able to sleep even with earplugs so I went back upstairs, grabbed my bags, checked out of the Aria for a public internet which I used with a cellphone to find another place to stay. My usual comp properties were expensive / booked on such short notice so I'm glad there was room at the El Cortez.

That really isn't acceptable at all. I know with comped free play you are out if it doesn't load right they aren't likely to look into it to fix it for you. I prefer the paper vouchers that I get through CET to any of the load up your machine type of perks. Being half or full buzzed and typing codes in a machine just doesn't work well for me and I am a tech guy for crying out loud. I am not very picky on my room, but I am allergic to dust. You would think a room that has been sitting that long would still get a good once over before being booked. I hope you were able to get a few wins on your trip and that harrahs was better to you.

Had the same issue with the bathroom door handle in my Aria room. The handle fell out the first night. I pushed it back together and it fell out again. Figure I hate to be a pain in the ass, so I put the handle on the vanity figuring the maid at this first class establishment would quickly notify the right people and have it fixed by the time I return. Nope, the handle sat on the counter for three days. I though of packing it for a keepsake, just to get the little problem out of their way. Note, that handle crashing on the floor at 4am is quite loud.

As for the the vacationer who got stuck with the 2-queen beds in place of the king. This may be considered an upgrade by the folks at Aria, as Aria charges an additional 20-30 bucks a night for 2-queen beds.

I agree as a place pushing to be on the top tier it has a ways to go.

Lol, I had the crazy partyers next door during my stay at Aria. Called down to the front desk, told them to send security up to crack some heads. Problem solved in under 10 minutes.

My apologies in advance if that was any of you guys... :evillaugh

Okay, I've done this several times at different properties. My problem is I tend to slip my room key in the same pocket as my cell phone and my magnetized money clip. Just like clock work every time I do, my room key doesn't work the next time.

So, it could be partially user error on this one. Inconvenient, yes of course it is. The properties fault? Eh, not entirely.

All the other service issues though, should have been more adequately addressed. Upon my checkout, they tried to bill me for 2 drinks from the mini bar and a snickers which I never took.

It took me about three phone calls to have those charges reversed.

Visit any place enough I am sure the odds of having a bad experience is going to increase, but usually with a brand new place, their focus should be on customer service. I would have expected to hear this type of story from one of the established places and not one of the new ones.

In any case, sorry to hear about it as I know from experience, a bad hotel experience can really ruin a trip....even in Vegas.

Has anyone ever called the front desk before they leave the room to preempt incorrect mini bar charges?

OK I have to admit I have complained about being locked out of my room at many Vegas establishments. Security personnel is generally unimpressed after they escort me to the correct floor and room. But so far I have woken up in the appropriate room!

    Yea Security Personnel!

P.S. This post has no reflection on OP or Airball

This is why I short MGM stock

Your report adds fuel to the fire for my stock habit.

I USED to be a customer of MGM. Then the Palms opened and I have never gone back.
