    My Trip Report

I'm going to make this a quick TR - just the highlights -

HOTEL - Fitzgerald's - thanks to the advice of some of the other posts - after checking out the first room given, and finding a hard bed, I requested another room - 3427. Much better - and because it was on the top floor, everyone thoght we had the presidential suite!!! LOL!! (Total cost of room: $163 for 6 nights).

FLIGHT - Nothing eventful - which is a good thing. (Total cost of flight: $130 RT since one way was paid under frequent flier miles).

RENTAL CAR - Alamo - scored early in the trip when I got upgraded to a midsized Chevrolet - very nice. (Total cost of rental: $106).

BUFFETS - RIO (regular, not seafood), Southpoint, Texas Station. Rio was excellent, as usual; Southpoint was alright, but still not enough vegies; and Texas could have easily been skipped.

RESTAURANTS - the diner in Bill's - very good prime rib; Blueberry Hill - it's best to stick to breakfast food here - I tried the Turkey Salad and wasn't impressed; and Ellis Island BBQ - oh my gosh - still the best!!! (The 2 for 1 helped also - $19 for two rib dinners with tip included!!!)

CASINOS VISITED - Fitzgerald's, Fremont, 4Queens, Bill's, Southpoint, Ellis Island, Cosmopolitan, Main Street Station, El Cortez, Fiesta Station, California, and Binion's. Just a few comments - Cosmopolitan was exquisite! Modern, but not cold (like M Resort) and the staff were unbelievably kind and hospitable. Bill's was a lot of fun - first time ever there and I'd definitely go back. Binion's - I think it's just getting sadder by the minute - they have now totally closed off the hotel registration desk and are selling cheap T-shirts in the front lobby. Please!! I think the new owner wants it to fail and is trying desperately to make it fail completely.

GAMBLING - it was GOOOOOOOOOD!!! I was getting incredibly lucky - won a lot of $200-250 progressive VIPs - I was getting 4 Aces an uncanny amount of times! One four of a kind (at Texas Station) was dealt (KKKK)!! I came back with a decent amount of money, as well as not touching the stash available to me in the bank! I finally graduated from nickel to quarter DDB VP. I don't think I"ll ever go back to nickels!!! I played some roulette at El Cortez and some poker at Binion's, and, a little penny machine play at Bill's. I found a machine in a bank near the front entrance that was spitting out bonuses like crazy - took me from $14 to $150 in 20 minutes!! It was a lot of fun!

STORES VISITED - went to Las Vegas Outlet Stores - very nice. Also visited That's Fantastik - the flea market on Decatur - that was interesting. I have never been so hounded for a sale. We also went to Ulta on Rancho Drive - that was a lot of fun.

Roughly speaking - airfare, car rental, hotel, gambling money and little extras (airport parking, etc) all added up to around $600. What a cheap trip!!

The last day of the trip - I got really sick - the desert is no place to have a dry cough. It hurt soooo bad! All I did was sleep. Vegas is no place to be sick - and I totally empathize with those that got sick when there!

Since my friend is on a limited budget - and she's older and has trouble walking - I paid for most of everything and rented her a wheelchair ($37 for 4 days from Emerald Medical Supply). My friend is like my second mom - and we have so much fun together! We had such a good time - so many laughs and craziness!! I fully realize that, due to her age (she just turned 79) any one of these trips could be her last...so, I try to appreciate them more. Our next trip is planned for late August.....that's like 200 days without Vegas - I hope I can do it!!! LOL!!!

Great TR - That is so cool of you to take your friend & give her an opportunity to have such an awesome time with you. Congrats on all the luck in VP, I played DDB for the first time last trip - it's fun! So sorry you got ill on your last day, it's too dry out there to have any sort of cold & be comfortable.

 on your winnings - sounds like it was great!

Thanks for the report! It does suck getting sick in Vegas. That has happened to me the last two trip, although the last one was not as bad and I pushed through it to hit big the last night and ended up with a profit overall.

Nice Report. Was that flea market worth checking out? It may be added to my list. I love flea markets.
