Leaving Weds - last minute tips?

Hubby and I are leaving Weds for 5 nights in Vegas, our first time. Plans are as follows:

Check in at airport for Bally's.

Take either cab or shuttle to hotel.

Snagged last minute decent tix to Danny Gans for Thursday night (last minute due to last minute cancellation of family that was to go with us - freeing us to make our own plans).

Doing Jubilee, but waiting to see if we can get some coupons to reduce ticket price.

Plan to rent a car for one day on the weekend from Bally's to do Hoover Dam/Lake Mead/Valley of Fire.

Plan to mostly use foot power and monorail to get around.

Plan to do a really nice dinner somewhere one night, still deciding and open to suggestions.

Must sees - Ballagio conservatory and fountain, Mirage Volcano, Big Elvis, and plan to check out as many casinos as we can.

Any bad ideas here or things I should reconsider or have forgotten?

Sounds like you have things dialed in for a great trip. for Jubilee tix, I would grab an entertainment mag. when you get there..should see them at the airport, or hotel lobby. There is usually a 2 for 1 coupon in there. Go to the box office, ask for your tix, get the best seats you can, THEN present your coupon. You have a better chance of getting good seats. You don't mention going downtown, not sure if it's in your plans to go & see the new screens of the Fremont Street Experience (also have lots of free entertainment on weekend evenings--bands playing outside, etc.) but there are some very nice and quite affordable restaurants downtown where you can have a romantic meal and not break the bank. We've eaten at Great Moments Room (twice) and Redwood Grill and had wonderful meals at each place (surf & turf, crab & filet with black bean sauce, something with scallops, a seafood variety plate--4 different fish--all really really really good I need an icon for drooling....) On our next trip we're going to try Center Stage and try for the window view of the light show--the restaurant is in a big glass dome that used to be the swimming pool (at the Plaza) and overlooks Fremont Street.

 

I would have to agree that you should include a trip downtown. We love going to Fremont Street. I alway have to walk through Ceasars Forum of Shops - never buy much but love to walk through. Of course I always make out a schedule and plan all these things and for some reason as soon as we hit the ground the schedule goes out the window!! We get so caught up in the Vegas atmosphere we just tend to forget our schedule.

 

Dinner, without a doubt, the top of the world restaurant at the Stratosphere tower, make reservations for around 7:30-8:00 and ask for a window seat. Food is very good and price is good! You will thank me without a doubt!!!

 

I agree, dinner at the Top of the World, you will not be disappointed, especially with the view! When you see it, you will be speechless!

I've heard to tell the taxi driver "no tunnel" when you leave the airport. I'm guessing it will make for a cheaper ride.

Be careful casino hopping.

My husband and I tried to jam too many in on our trip and the heat started to get to us. And we started to snip at each other. Almost ruined the trip. We skipped our casino hopping for a day and we are glad we did. Didn't get to see them all, but hey, a perfect excuse to go back. The casinos will still be there next time. (On second thought maybe not considering how often they tear them down and build them up again)

If it gets to be too much, stop.

Just use common sense in this area and have a great time.
