    My Trip Report

I'm going to make an attempt at a live trip report (if my wife doesn't hide my phone from me). The landscape for this trip is R & R. Mostly eating, drinking and pool time. I'm sure we will squeeze in a little gambling, but we will be uber low rolling this trip.

At Reno/Tahoe airport waiting to board. Our plane is already at the gate (1st win of the trip). Should be touching down in Vegas at about 10:20

Decided to take the shuttle as the cab line was wicked long. Bad idea. Took way too long and I think that the shuttle bus was on it's last leg. Never heard so many pops, squeaks and blanks in my life.

Just loaded up on chow at BLT and am now fueled up to use a little freeplay.

Now to find a full pay vp machine. The search begins....

I'll be looking up your report every day till I get there. It will be our first time at the Mirage, and it sure looks promising. :D Have a wonderful time.

Please post how your room is and if it has been updated. I'll be there in a couple weeks.

BTW, I plan on having some chow at BLT. What did you have and was it good? I've never been there.

    Have a super trip.

Cool. How much freeplay did you get? Let us know how the freeplay spending goes.

Yesterday evening was very relaxing. We managed to get in a couple of hours poolside. The pool was not very crowded which surprised me. IMHO Mirage has got one of the best pools on the strip.

After the pool we headed out for dinner. Against my better judgement we went to Caesars Palace and signed up foe the Buffet of Buffets. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. We planned the 24 hours of gluttony and stomach aches so that we could get 2 dinners. Told you we were uber low rolling.

A little review on the check in and room -

We booked a standard volcano view room. Check in was a breeze. Didn't use the $20 trick. The room has been remodled. I'm pretty sure that all of the renovations have been completed on every room. I'll post photos when I get home.

My $50 freeplay went well. It was resort specific so I had to play at the mirage. Found a DDB machine and cashed out up $40. Not a great win but I'll take it. Ran through that $40 at Bellagio. Got nothing. Maybe my luck will change today.

Have stayed at TI a couple of times and often wondered if The Mirage would be a good alternative. Were you planning on posting any pictures of the rooms and pool area? I always take the pictures on the official site with a grain of salt:rolleyes2:

We eat at BLT everytime we come to Vegas. If I had to recommend something it would be their adult milkshakes, however I think everything is tasty.

Logging in some pool time right now. Damn the weather is nice. It's making these frosty adult beverages go down way too quick:drunk:

As for gambling, nothing earth shattering to report. Hit a couple of quads, sadly neather were premiums. We are up a little for the trip, but not by much.

Went to Paris for breakfast buffet at about 8:00 and there was no line. After eating there I know why. The place has gone way down hill. I think the IP buffet might be better :vomit:

Hey Techie223 - I've stayed at both TI and Mirage and prefer the rooms at the Mirage. Personally think the resort as a whole is nicer than TI. But, also have to say that last year I used the $20 trick at TI and got a Petit Suite upgrade, double door room off the elevators, 2 full bathrooms, it was really nice.

3 more sleeps till my trip, staying at Monte Carlo for the first time....woo hoo!!!!

I will post pics, but not until I get home (it's a major PITA to do from my phone). I too have stayed at TI and would consider the 2 resorts similar, but would give the better rating to the Mirage. The standard rooms are very similar, but the Mirage has far superior amenities (pool, dining, etc)

Thanks for the input gruvychick. I have stayed in a Petit Suite, also, and they are nice, especially if you're trying to entertain a group of people. Love the 2 washrooms.

I'll be looking forward to your pictures obrien73.

Looks like the next time I stay on the Strip I'll have to give the Mirage a try.

Today has been mostly spent at the pool. Some of the best entertainment I have seen all week. Gotta love half naked drunk girls. My wife has been in hysterics. Good stuff.

Hit Wynn for a little VP. That place is absolutely brutal. Won't be giving Stevo any more action this week.

On the bright side lunch at Grand Lux was fantastic.

Tried out KGB last night. Not too shabby although i prefer BLT. KGB is a bit less expensive. The only downside is that it is in Harrahs. It always smells like a soiled diaper with a dirty ashtray in it. Feel free to shampoo the carpets and deodorize the place at your earliest convenience HET.

After dinner we made our way south. Saw my first caucasion porn slapper. He was less than enthusiastic about his job. Guess times really are pretty tough here. The crowds are the smallest that I have seen in years. It's kind of nice.

The VP machines are just brutal this trip. Yesterday I ran through my daily gambling allotment in record time. No royals, no quads, nadda.

Day 4 is in the bag. Today will be our last full day before heading home. Actualy we are both ready to head home. The trip has been relaxing like we had hoped it would be. I have an extremely busy fall (work wise) and this trip was just what I needed to start back relaxed and with new perspective.

Here are some highlights from yesterday -

Food - We had breakfast at the Bellagio buffet. Good as usual. Typical buffet fare, just slightly higher quality. Lunch was at the Mirage pool cafe. Decent food for a decent price. We finished our epicurean adventure at Greenburgs in NYNY. Had a couple of sandwiches. Awesome as usual.

    Pool - awesome. Nuff said.

Gambling - I continue my run of poor luck. Had a glimmer of hope in the Bellagio at some bartops. I was delt trip aces five times. Sadly none resulted in quads. Quickly used my daily allowance on that bartop machine. Could have cashed out up a bit, but where is the fun in that.

Side note - The porn slappers were out in full force. I don't know if I have ever seen that many. They seem to be venturing out from there regular locations. They usualy seem to stay on the east side of the strip, but yesterday they were on the west side in equal numbers.

I seen him to older short white guy, he seemed generally bummed with life. I was at the Mirage the same time as you and I completely forgot I was supposed to get $50 in free play also. It makes me feel like I just took a $50 out of my wallet and set it on fire.:poke: Were you satisfied with your room, mine was on the tower floor and seemed very worn down.

I should have just lit mine on fire. I had absolutely terrible luck this trip. Thank god we were there to relax and not gamble.

As far as the room goes our seemed to be pretty decent. We had a volcano view standard room on the 18th floor. I only payed the casino rack rate for it the whole time so it seemed ok to me. Nothing flashy, just your standard vegas room.

Thursday was our final day this trip. I managed to squeak out a couple of wins at a $5 6:5 single deck BJ table. I hate the 6:5 payout, but couldn't resist a $5 table at the Mirage. Sadly I gave my winnings back a little later.

Both the wife and I felt like the walking dead. We managed to head over to Starbucks and get a little snack before heading out. Did a little shopping for the wife at Victoria's Secret in the forum shops. :wink2:

We headed over to the Grand Lux for lunch. Is there anything that they make there that isn't tasty? Afterward we headed to BLT for one of their strawberry macaroon ice cream sandwiches.

Got in a little pool time, but the clouds rolled in so we spent the majority of the time in the hot tub.

We had dinner at Japonais. Not really impressed with there sushi. Pretty overpriced for the quality of sushi. On the upside their miso soup was really good.

The remainder of the evening was spent watching the Sirens @ TI (damn I miss the old show, the new one really sucks eggs), watching the volcano show and people watching. Over all we had a great time. Photos of the room and pool to follow.
