    My Trip Report

My buddies and I had planned on this trip in Feb (8-11) but it isn't real until you book something, which I just did: $21/nite in an El Cortez tower double-double (via Orbitz via Travelaxe). Yes, I'm dancing on the fine line between frugal and cheap here, but I'm psyched nonetheless. Workin' the to-do list now:

    Givens:
    Downtown, shrimp cocktails, dollar craps...
Gotta find the Binions snack bar this trip - been there 2x and never found it. Don't [IMG] know [IMG] why. [IMG]
Also, I never make it into the Fremont, gotta do that.

    Must dos:
Fountains. How tough is it to get a seat on the Fontana patio?
Take the new monorail to the Sahara, play some lo-limit BJ.
Stop in at home (MBay Island Lounge), check out House o' Blues, Red Square.

    Probables:
    Limo up the strip.
The Western and the Gold Spike. O boy.
A show - Mac King, Rick Thomas, something along those lines. I'm not big on shows, but should probably do one. Maybe the Rat Pack over at Greek Isles. Larry Jones is likely too.
A cheap steak and/or prime rib: the Cal, Ellis Island, Mr Luckys at Hard Rock. Maybe splurge for the Great Moments room at LV Club.

    Possibles:
A martini at the Polo Towers Sky Lounge.
    Boardwalk, on Hoya's recommendation.
    Rio/Palms/Gold Coast area.
Give the IP another chance, on Mikey's recommendation. See the cars.
Air Play and the casino museum at the Trop.
Low limit hold'em somewhere - need recommendations. Thinking about the class at the Excalibur, or 3/6 at the Mirage? May wind up playing some downtown, we'll see...
Play the ponies at Caesars, if there's any action Sunday afternoon.

That seems like a lot, and not enough at the same time... can't wait!

    Hey Doc--

Binions has several snack bars, but my favorite one is the one closest to the change (coin only) cage on the original Binions side (the side with all the table games). But the snack bars next to the poker room will do in a pinch!

Also, the poker room at Binions offers a 1-4-8 Hold 'Em game, along with 2-4. Not too many pros at those tables, but lots of folks staying to the river. Monte Carlo has a nice poker room also, although I think they usually do 2-4 instead of 3-6.

Why can't ya wait till March??? :(

Thanks for the info Mikey. I had written off Binions for poker, I thought there'd be kind of a WSOP intimidation factor there, but if they got a 2/4 game, why not?

The timing of this trip was set up well in advance, so we could coordinate multiple schedules (hate that [IMG] ). Who knows, though, if I come out of this with extra money maybe I can sneak back to lose it to my fellow board members...

    Hey Doc,
Was at Binion's snack shop about 4:00am Wednesday had a coffee and muffin, to early for chili. Should have stayed there because went up to GG and some lovely woman at the BJ table took all my hard earned money i won at craps.

Also went to see Mac King Great Show lol funny. Have a freind sign up for Harras's slot club and get $7.00 tickets for show, worth about 30.00

    Enjoy your trip
