    My Trip Report

The count has begun. We are heading out for a long weekend in three and a half weeks. It will just be the two of us for a change, no relatives, no friends and best of all, no kids. This trip was originally scheduled for this past May but since I broke my foot, we had to postpone it until October. I am having a really hard time sorting through my Vegas folder and finalizing my plans though. My husband and I each received an offer from Harrah’s and the Rio for two free nights. We are going out for four day and three nights so we made two reservations and had them overlap on Sunday. About a month or so ago, we decided to get tickets for the Agassi Grand Slam charity event. My husband is a big Robin Williams fan and I like Billy Joel, Elton John and Cheryl Crow. All was set until I picked up the mail this past Saturday. Mandalay Bay sent us a postcard with a really good deal. The deal was that you had to pay for one night at the casino rate, which was $189 and the second night was free but they were giving you two tickets to the Holyfield/Toney fight. My husband LOVES boxing so I immediately called and made a reservation through VIP services. I wouldn’t consider us big gamblers, maybe average at best and I was surprised to get the offer. I have no idea where the seats are or whether or not they’re decent. The prices range from $75 - $650 per ticket. I’d be happy somewhere in the middle. No one at Mandalay Bay could give us any idea about where the seats might be and they told us we wouldn’t know until we checked it. I guess we’ll just have to take our changes. Boxing is supposed to start at 4:30 pm and the Agassi event starts at 8:30 pm so we’ll go from one right to the other. In the meantime, my 11 year old was crying her eyes out because we were going to swim in the Mandalay Bay pool without her, which made us feel guilty. Then again, she is spoiled rotten and we never have much time without her so we’re doing it anyway. (We took her to Vegas with us this past summer, to San Diego with a trip to Disneyland and to Disneyworld for a week) I haven’t had a chance to cancel one of the Harrah’s reservations. When I got home from work yesterday, I had an offer from the Venetian for up to three free week nights along with a $50 dining credit and $50 in slot credits. I took a shot and booked that too. I love the rooms at the Venetian and it was free + the dining credit and slot credits so I couldn’t pass that up! Now I have two rooms booked for Saturday night, four rooms booked for Sunday night and two booked for Monday night. I want to cancel both reservations at Harrah’s but if I do that then we can’t use the coupon they sent for two free tickets to Scintas because you have to be a guest of the hotel to use it. Then again, I don’t want to spend my entire vacation checking in and out of hotel rooms. I don’t even know the Scintas are worth checking in and out of a hotel and taking a shuttle over to the Rio, I’m guessing probably not so maybe I should just go ahead and cancel. Decisions decisions! Trying to decide what to do is really putting a damper on my countdown excitement. It's turning into borderline stressful.

T-15 or so we hope. Something has come up so the trip is not 100% certain right now. Hopefully, we'll still be able to get away.

Oh no Cruiser!! Fingers crossed for you! Hopefully though you don't use up all your good luck in getting to Vegas and find none left at the tables or machines when you get there.

    I'm glad for you Cruiser!

T-16 for us! We fly out early on Sunday 9/28... getting to bed on Saturday night should be "interesting" (read: not happening)
