    My Trip Report

*WARNING* A Little Long, and out of sequence, but its the best i can do!

    Hiya Folks,

It's eddie here, and for all you that havent read the post titled "A couple of serious questions", I started that thread. I'm 19 years old, and i just got back from Las Vegas. I left on Feb.23 and my flight out was at Midnight feb 27. Lets see what i can remember. [IMG]

The flight to las vegas was like going to hell. The flight was supposed to fly outta Toronto Airport at 2025. But we ended up leaving at 23:45. Most ppl were at the airport by 1845, so waiting five hours wasn't a good start by any means. Plus I had told my friend *who's 21* to wait for me at the venetian at 2300. So now i had to call her cell and hope that she got my voice mail that my flight was delayed. Well come quarter to twelve, we started boarding, and the 4+ hour flight to Vegas was somewhat smooth. Got outta McCarran and took a shuttle to the Venetian. Immediate culture shock with all the glitz and glamour of the strip. The shuttle stopped at MGM, Luxor, Trop, Flamingo and Monte Carlo before i got to the venetian. I was dead tired by then due to spneding 10+ hrs with airline related crap (the wait, the flight, check-in etc) Got an earful from my friend about the flight delay. We got a room at the venetian for 3 nights at $79 per night thanks to priceline.com. Went upstairs to room 22-317. And lemme tell ya, those venetian rooms. WOW. Like holy shit these things were big. I think the room can sleep six comfortably. Got a view of virtually nothing, but who the hell spends hours looking outside the window anyway? Anyway, then went downstairs and walked around the venetian area, pondering what to do with my friend. She had already ate so food was outta the question (I was starving, but too tired to notice it) Walked over to T.I in search of 5 dollar BJ tables, but they were nowhere to be found. Now that i think about it, I didnt look hard enough. Went back to venetian and sat down at at $10 dollar blackjack table. The other players were plastered, and table atmosphere was pretty good. Got carded right at my buy-in of $100 by a Pit Boss named Jason. He seemed pretty friendly, and I got away with using the ID. 1 of 1! [IMG]

The gambling gods must've shone their light on me as I don't think i busted on consecutive hands at that table. After 15 mins of play, i was content to leave being up $125. On a side note, the Venetian Cocktail waitresses are something to look at lemme tell ya. Like WHOA. haha. + a great thing about the venetian is that their drinks were nice and stiff. So now i had given my original buy in of $100 back to my friend, so i wouldnt be tempted to lose back what i bought in with. Cashed out up $125. As we were walking to the cashier, i handed her my black and green chips and someone the black chip eluded her hand and rolled somewhere on the casino floor. So now we were two idiots trying to look for a black chip on the venetian casino floor. (some of the most dizzying patterns known to man are on the Carpets of the venetian casino). Security eventually came around and asked what was going on. I told him that i dropped a chip and eventually three security guards helped to look around, and one of them found it. They verified with security upstairs and I got my chip back. Cashed out and then passed out in bed.

The next day, woke up, admired the room some more, and then went to the Grand Luxe Cafe to eat. I had the Grand Luxe Burger melt and my friend had the lunch special which included half a chicken salad sandwich and a cup of soup for $8.95. The burger melt is scarily good. Seriously guys, i took my first bite and wanted to shit my pants it was so good. Best burger i've ever had bar none. Friend's lunch special wasn't too good, according to her. Left the grand luxe after lunch, and proceeded to walk around the venetian grand canal shops. Very nice architecture, and just beauty throughout the hotel. Then we got outside, and there it was. The goddamn Sephora makeup shop. For all the dudes out there, chicks apparently dig this shop and can spend hours in there. I was told to find something to do, and come back to find her later. So obviously i tried to duplicate the luck i had last night at the BJ tables. Sat down at a $10 BJ table and there was a hilarious dealer named Ryan workin the table. Got some great laughs and was up about $40 or so, until a dealer change, and then the hands started going bad. Walked out with $80, and i was lucky to leave with just losing $20. I did not get carded at all this time at the venetian. Didn't really care much for the twenty bones i lost, since i was a university kid up $105 in the first day and a bit that i was there. Walked back to Sephora to find out that she was STILL shopping. This proved to be a trend. Anyway, after shopping at sephora was done, we just did the basic tourist thing and walked down the strip towards the mandalay. Of course we never made it that far. That day was spent taking pictures of the various beautiful sites of Vegas. Since she was a vegas virgin, i just basically served as tour guide and the day was spent walking around town. Don't think I had dinner that night, as we were still stuffed from grand luxe. That night was spent people looking and more walking around, and ended losing another 30 bucks back to the tables at the venetian. This time i wasn't carded either, and had another great dealer by the name of Carol. I must say, the dealers at the venetian are among the most friendly, just make sure you get one that speaks english and you're good to go!

The next morning, woke up at around twelve or so and proceeded to go to Paris to have a lunch buffet. The buffet in general was pretty good, but at $17.95, it was pretty expensive for lunch. After that, we just did more walking around, and i decided that i had walked enough. So after visiting the white tigers of mirage. I parted ways with my friend who went to the Fashion Show Mall beside T.I and I went to look for more 10$ blackjack at the venetian. The two ten dollar tables were nowhere to be found, so I left the venetian in search of a five dollar table at either casino Royale or the I.P. Walked into Casino Royale, thought to myself, why dont they just implode this place already and build something else? Nothing special about it. Sat down at a $3 dollar single deck table just in time to read the sign that says Blackjack pays 6:5. I got up and left, and continued to walk on. Walked into the Harrahs, and it seemed that they also only had 10 dollar tables. But now i felt cheap and wanted to play $5. So walked on and into the Imperial Palace I went. Sat down at a $5 table and got killed on the first couple of hands. was down to my last red until i started winning it back. Left that table being down 50 cents and then went to another. I had already cashed out and was happy to walk away being down 50 cents, but something made me play this other 5 dollar table. I took a beating here as well, on my last two red chips from a 20 dollar bill (i had planned to just play 20 bucks) i had a pair of sevens against a dealer four. So I split and on the first hand, i got a six. Thirteen= Stay against a dealer four. and on the next one, i got a four. 11= double down. so i had to pull out the other twenty and i think i got like a 14 after doubling. Turns out the dealer pulled a 20. bye bye money. Eventually left the IP being down 40 bucks and didnt even have a single drink. Not a big fan of the IP after tht experience, even tho it wasn't their fault that i stuck around. After that, just went back to the Venetian to relax. That night, we went to the Todai Japanese Buffet at the aladdin for dinner. The price was $25.95 and drinks weren't included. The food in general was pretty good, but they had no lobster, so they replaced it with Jumbo shrimp (which is an oxymoron). The shrimp was pretty bad, as the meat was rather mushy in texture. But in general, the meal was pretty good. No complains here. It had started to rain that afternoon and now it was just pouring. THe cobble steps at the aladdin were slippery as hell, and i almost bailed on a couple of occasions. We then walked back to the Venetian and just hung around there for a bit. Decided to go play dollar blackjack at the Sahara, and my friend wanted to walk. Lemme tell ya, its a BAD idea to walk, cuz its pretty damn far. We ended up going into Circus Circus cuz she was curious to see what it was like. There werent kids running rampant the time that i was there, but i was definitely surprised to see that their buffet had a huge line. I thought to myself, why in the world would people want to eat here of all places? Anyway, after exploring Circus Circus, we walked to the Sahara. An older hotel, with a rather odd atmosphere. Sat down at a dollar table and both of us proceeded to buy in with twenty bucks. After an hour and a bit of play, i was up $15 and my friend was down 5 bucks. Not bad considering the number of jack and cokes that i drank. Got carded here by an old looking lady pit boss. ID worked. 2 of 2!!!! These would be the only times I would get carded at tables, so if you are reading to see if I get busted for my fake ID, the answer is No, so you can stop reading now if you wish =). After lounging around in the sahara for another half hour and waited as my buddy dropped some quarters into slots, we left to take a bus downtown. The bus drivers in vegas are among some of the nicest i must say. Stopped at fremont street. Ten mins til the fremont street experience, we decided to stop in at Le Bayou because my friend wanted beads. After seeing the frozen drinks, i couldnt pass up on one. We split the large "Sex On The Bayou" The lady here carded me and she saw that i was "22" she told me to cherish it, cuz the next thing you know, you'll be 40. I'll be sure to heed her words of advice =). The drink itself was pretty good and STIFF i must say. I expected it to be less stiff, but that was definitely good bang for the buck. After splitting that drink, the light show came on, and we have multiple pictures which i'll post later if you folks want to see =) After my extensive research, i knew the 99 cent shrimp cocktails would be too good to pass up on, so into the Golden Gate we went and straight to the back of the deli. We split three shrimp cocktails and a french dip. Best 8 bucks i spent in vegas! great food, a lil drunk, life is good. after chowing down and finishing the food, we left the GG and saw that they offered to refill any daiquiri glass for two bucks. We thought of getting one more, but decided against it, now i wish we would've had another drink ! two bucks would've been a steal! After lounging around fremont a bit more, we caught a bus back upto the Venetian, and she decided to call it a night, where i decided to try the 10 dollar tables again. Ended up losing thirty bucks, coupled with the twenty dollar loss earlier, i was now down to two greens. Had two more jack and cokes, served by amazingly good looking cocktail waitresses, and went upstairs and proceeded to hit the sack. As i was waiting for the elevators, i met a "couple" and apparently the girl was a "worker" and he had got her for fifty bucks! I thought to myself, fifty bucks for a prostitute at the venetian? wow the economy must be bad. I thwarted my curiousity to head back downstairs to the lounge where the live band was playing because apparently that was where all the workers were. I just hit the sack despite having a big curiousity to check it out downstairs.

Our fourth day in vegas, we checked out of the Venetian, being extremely satisfied with the hotel. I cashed in those two green chips and decided to try the luck elsewhere. We cabbed it down to the Bellagio (becuz we had luggage) and proceeded to check in. Check-in took all of two minutes. and We had a room for $119 which included a free lakeshore view upgrade. We were given room 22040. Nice room, but it was quite the walk. Last fuckin room in the whole hall way!!!! The room itself is not as nice as venetians, but the Bellagio beds, lemme tell you folks. That bed is the most comfortable bed in the world still. It just seems like it moulds with your back. The view we had was great, as the fountains were in no obstruction. Everything was pretty good about the bellagio. After unpacking slightly, we headed down to enjoy the Bellagio Lunch Buffet. It was only $15.95, and definitely worth it. bigass shrimp and good smoked salmon. Great meats and judging from my friend, amazing deserts as well. After that, we walked to caesars and she did more shopping and i did more bag holding. went back to bellagio to drop off the bags and then contemplated what to have for dinner. Flipped open a copy of Showbiz and decided instantly that the Cheesecake Factory was the answer. Close, and large portions. So we trekked over to caesars and were seated quickly. We decided to split an order of wings and their burger which was basically a double double. Boy were we glad we split it. The portions were huge, and we just barely finished everything. The highlight of the meal was definitely the cheesecake. They had a Godiva Chocolate cheesecake on promotion to celebrate their 25th anniversary, and lemme tell ya, that was probbaly the third time that the food was so good i shat my pants (literally). If you eat one piece of cheesecake in your lifetime, try to make it a piece from the Cheesecake Factory. WOW. Anyway, after dinner was done, my friend had to go to walgreens to pick up some neutrogena products or some shit like that, so i said i'll meet her back at the room later, Back to the tables I went. I was definitely surprised to find two 5 dollar blackjack tables at the Bellagio at nighttime. I guess the fact that it was a low week allowed the 5$ tables to be there. I didn't complain. Bought in for $100. Choppy hands, didnt really get on any streaks, but the front of the table kept getting blackjack. A woman at second seat even turned a hat trick. Too bad they were all single red chip bets. On came the jack and cokes, and I think Bellagio makes an even stiffer drink than the Venetian. The great thing is, its a stiff drink, but it still goes down easy. The cocktail watiresses are still pretty damn hot at the Bellagio, running a close second to the venetian. Anyway, didnt like the prospect of losing money (amateur gambler i am) and cashed out $25 up. Watched a hooker play black chip blackjack with an old man who was her "date". Anything's possible in vegas. Watched a dude drop 2500 bucks on a hand of blackjack. Also saw a lot of hookers hanging around the Fontana Bar (i wasnt TRYING! they were there!) Went back upto the room. watched the fountains for a bit from the room, and wanted more action. Went back down to the same $5 table, and bought in for $50. Choppy play still, and then my friend came by. She sat down (she doesnt play much) and bought in for $50 as well. She played like 5 mins, had a screwdriver (stiff as well) and then left, up $25. I eventually left that table with the same amount as my buy-in, but after another couple of JD and Cokes, i was feeling good. Went back upto the room and contemplated what to do. In case you havent noticed, this trip has been somewhat ironic, in that we go to the sahara to play dollar blackjack and yet we stay at the two nicest hotels in Vegas *shrug* I eventually went to the Sahara by myself and dropped another twenty bucks. THat twenty bucks lasted a good hour and a half though. I dont think i'll ever go back there. The drinks are weak, the bus ride is sorta long, and the dealers aren't friendly (since they dont get tipped worth shit, since the games are only a buck each) Anyway, got back to the Bellagio at around 430am and hit the sack. Woke up at 10:45 the next day and we had to check out. My friend's flight back to vancouver was at 3 pm and mine was a red eye at 11:30pm. So i had eight hours to kill by myself. Decided to go to Ellis Island to partake in the $4.95 Sirloin special. After trying a while to find it, I was there, and this was DEFINITELY a local's joint. Ordered the Special with mash and a cup of chili. The chili was watery, and the potatos weren't mashed completely (still had chunks of potato inside) The steak itself was rather flavorless, and this was the first time i used A1 at a restaurant. But for 5 bucks, who could complain i guess. I won't be returning to Ellis Island though, that's for damn sure. Walked back to the Bellagio and for some messed up reason, decided to buy in for 50 bucks at a blackjack table. Well lemme tell ya, i've never seen a 7 card 21 pulled by a dealer before. Had a pair of jacks, useless, 3, 8 face. 21. bye bye red chips! Lost 40 bucks in about 5 minutes or so. Took the last two red chips, bet it on red in roulette. Black 31. bye bye money! After that, i said no more, and sat at the Bellagio lobby for about an hour. Still had like six hours to kill so decided to walk a bit. Took the tram to the Monte Carlo. didn't see anything interesting, so went over to NYNY. Saw nothing interesting. to the Excalibur. Saw nothing interesting. By now, i was a little hungry, and I thought that the buffet at Luxor wouldnt be a bad idea. Got on the tram, for some reason, i took the wrong tram and it took me to Mandalay Bay. I figured what the hell, might as well see what the price of the buffet was like. Walk walk walk, $21.95. bye bye mandalay bay. Went back to the luxor buffet and it was $15.95. Decided obviously this was the choice. Sat down, went to look at what the food selection. I expected at least some Shrimp. NONE. there was barely any Roast beef, barely any hot entrees. I can't believe they charged me 16 bucks for this shit! Decided i wouldn't have any of this, i could've just went to the Aladdin, and for four bucks more, get some shrimp and crab legs. got up and asked for a refund. Got the refund and then took the tram to excalibur. Decided i was a little too tired, so dinner that night consisted of two McChicken Sandwiches. a McShaker Caesar Salad and a Diet Pepsi. Hey i cant complain, for the five bucks i spent at mickie D's i would've prolly been more satisfied than the seventeen i spent at Luxor. This was friday and many people had started pouring in for the NASCAR race. If you didn't know beforehand, I'm Canadian and NASCAR isn't very popular up here. but boy do you american's love it. Everybody and their mom's was wearing one of those NASCAR jackets of a particular driver. Earnhardt JR, Gordon, Wallace, you name it. So 1/3'rd of Las Vegas people on the Strip looked like walking billboards, since these jackets were full of advertisements for corporate companies. I laughed at how stupid these people looked. If you have a NASCAR jacket, I ask you this. Why do you pay $150 for a jacket that you'd wear once or twice and looks stupid? One old guy i saw, had a huge viagra sign on the back of his jacket (#6, i believe is Mark Martin)? I thought, ok buddy, we know you need Viagra to get it up, no need to tell the world. Anyway, after more people watching and being a little annoyed with the amount of Porno fliers handed to me, I went back to the Bellagio once again, and sat in their sportsbook to watch some hockey and basketball. Ended up falling asleep for a lil bit, and before u know it, it was 9:20. My shuttle bus was here and off to McCarran I went. bye bye Glitz and Glamour of strip! hello snow of Ontario. The flight was delayed an hour, but was good, because I slept the whole way. In summary, i thank you for reading this rather boring TR. I'm pretty sure i missed out some odds and ends , but that was basically the gist of it.

    A Couple of Points:

    - Didn't get busted for using a Fake ID at all, didnt even get carded most of the time.
    - Won $15-20 bucks, but i'd call it even, cuz thats prolly the total amount i tipped for all my drinks
    - Las Vegas on a non busy week, is really not busy at all. never had a line for the Paris or Bellagio buffets. When i went two christmas' ago, each for at least two hour lines.
    - do NOT walk to the Sahara unless u are living at circus circus or further south, its Hell
    - The people who are dressed up at carnaval court look stupid
    - Aladdin seems to be really shitting the bed. I went into their casino at 1am and it was virtually empty
    - The drinks at La Bayou will mess you up and taste good too
    - Dollar Blackjack is NOT worth the time and effort. Kinda lame actually, since the atmosphere aint all that
    - Hookers can apparently be had for cheap on a low week
    - NASCAR jackets look stupid
    - Venetian has the nicest rooms in all of Vegas. $79 was quite the steal
    - Dollar beers rule
    - Las Vegas is amazing
    - that is all. im just babbling on now. Chances are, i missed some points on this TR, but as i'm typing this, i think i caught the cold from LV, so off to the sack I go.
    Thanks again folks

Excellent trip report! Just wonder if the gambling was worth the risk? I think I would have been done when security had to help you find the black chip, and then verify with the eye in the sky. I couldnt have held it together...

Baz> I think i was so tired i didnt know how to panic. The Eye in the sky wouldve known that the chip was mine. They had to verify anyway, and i guess they didnt look much into my age *shrug*
I never knew where that chip landed, the security found it lol

Sounds like you had a great trip.

I will answer your question on the NASCAR jackets. I have never been into a sport before like I am into NASCAR. Rusty Wallace is my favorite driver and I have a lot of memorabilia of Rusty Wallace; pencils, shot glass, mouse pad, pictures, books, sweat shirt, shirts, you name it. The only thing I don't have is the jacket and I want one so badly! You may think it looks stupid and is ridiculous but as a fan of a NASCAR driver you have no clue.

Also, one of our highlights in Las Vegas last April was the bands at the Carnival Court. They were a hoot I think.

Overall I'm glad you had an enjoyable time and didn't get put in jail.

I live in NC and still don't understand the appeal of Nascar. Although I have learned NOT to publicly voice my opinion that racing is not a sport [IMG] That can get me hurt ;)

Sounds like a great trip!! I am one of the Sephora chicks ;) I don't usually buy much (or anything) but I LOVE to go browse. Hubby tends to be very accommodating while we're in Vegas--I'm sure the drinks help--so I get to shop when he's around, and that NEVER happens at home :D Aren't those La Bayou drinks good! That's where I always get carded too--cracks me up! What flavor did you try?

We had a "Sex On The Bayou" It was Vodka, Orange Juice, Peach Schnapps and cranberry juice i think.

Kathy, Why Rusty Wallace of all the drivers? What's his appeal? i understand why people root for Junior, cuz his dad was immensely popular. I understand why people loved Earnhardt cuz he was a badass had an attitude. But where's the kick out of watching people drive around in a circle? I guess i just dont understand. + Why do u want on eof those jackets? it makes you look like a walking advertisement. I understand why people wear Hockey or Baseball or basketball jerseys, cuz these players have a particular appeal to them (A-Rod for his ability, Lemieux in the NHL for his scoring touch, Vince Carter or T-Mac for their explosiveness. But why rusty wallace? Sure beats me. not that it's a bad thing. Just wondering. Oh and there were no bands at carnaval court this year, cuz it was raining. just a big area with funky dressed up people handing stuff out.

$50 for trick is not worth the price.vegas is one of the primo std capitals  .when players win they`ll post it but when they get afflicted there`s not a word mentioned on the board. becareful you have a long life ahead of you, hiv can be fatal and treatments for std costs a heck of a lot more than $50.

Well done Absolutdrinker .... praise to ya for sticking it to the man!!!

WE are all alowed to have fun!!! Besides, your Canadian.. and 19 is fair game according to our govenment. It's like someone from Amsterdam being worried about smoking pot a Vegas hotel room.
We all know we can do it without any hassles... but we all know that the possibility DOES exist that you could be busted!!! Unlikely.. but possible.

Nice to see that tables were avail. at those great locations, and that they are not only for the $100 + per hand player.. as it was when i was last there (Superbowl week-end)
    And... FYI..Nascar....
Take the Craziest Leafs fan you know.... multiply that by 10.. and that gives you an average NASCAR fan.. not a good idea to poke fun!! Yes they often look stupid in Bright Orange Home Depot Jackets.... but i'm sure someone you know once had an old yellow Vancouver Canucks Jacket.. well.. hold on??? nahhh never mind..... Ya your right....it's just plain old stupid!!hahaha

    Well done!! Great T.R.

    Mike Weir Rules!!!!

    Hey Max.

The thought of a leaf fan X10 scares me. I'm serious. I live in ontario right now and i have to deal with Leaf fans. As for the canuck jacket, i'm a huge canuck fan, but those "Terrible V" days were pretty rough i must say. I guess nascar is huge in America. Still puzzles me as to why.

    Cheers
