    My Trip Report

flew to vegas out of columbus on america west. got round trip non stop for $226. booked it on the net so i got 3,000 bonus miles on my flight fund. finally have accumulated enough for round trip tickets for me and the wife. airport in columbus was a breeze. maybe took 30 minutes at the most. arrived in vegas and went straight to newyork newyork. went to vip check in and got my room early. as i mentioned earlier, had a comped room. when i go to vegas, there is little time for anything but gambling (unless the wife goes). she didn't go this trip so it was nonstop gambling. did eat a very good breakfast buffet at MGM Grand. the omelet guy was as friendly as anyone i met the entire trip. also had a comped buffet at the Monte Carlo. used it for the sunday brunch. it was very good but i could only force down one plate. vegas was fairly crowded as some electronics convention was going on. there was also some adult video news awards going on at the venetian. anyways, to the gambling. i play mostly blackjack and video poker but decided to play some slots to try to hit the big one. the casino at nyny was very lively as it always is. the blackjack game was decent and had some very friendly dealers. also has a real nice pit boss named ali. she came up and talked for a little while and every session after the first, she made a point to come up and say hi. talked to her about slots and she pointed us to a couple of certain games. good thing she did, we hit for $500 and $200 on the $1 big apple game. after nyny, we made our way down the strip to play at a couple of different places. during the three days, we played at paris, ballys, mgm, tropicana, excalibur, monte carlo, bellagio, harrahs, flamingo hilton, caesars, the mirage and rio. at rio, my brother got propositioned by a lady looking for a "date". there were several good games we played at. flamingo hilton had a good double deck game and excalibur had a decent game. i stayed away from all the 6/5 bj games hoping if people stay away, they will get rid of them. at nyny, coyote ugly was a happening place. there was a hugh line to get in. it doesn't open until 10pm. espn zone also was very busy during the playoff football games. the bar at times square with the dueling pianos was also very lively. it also had a line to get in. there is a pizza place in nyny that had very good pizza and lasagne. there wasn't very many shows in town for the weekend. we wanted to see a good comedian but there wasn't any headliners to be found. as far as the bj, i was up and down all weekend. would win $300 one place then lose it at the next. just like my last trip, my last day in town was particularly brutal. was getting my 20's beat by the dealers 5 card 21s. made me want to pull my hair out. took the redeye back to columbus on sunday night/monday morning. only took about 30 minutes at mccarren also. america west had a self ticketing machine now and i used it. just put in my flight fund number and followed a few directions. allowed me to pass the 50 people (at least) in front of me. overall it was a great trip. was 20 degrees in ohio and 65-68 in vegas. will probably be another year before my next trip. the wife is talking about taking a cruise so it may be longer. god i love vegas.

Isn't it funny how people who work in casinos just "know" what is hot and what is not???

    Nice report! [IMG]

one thing i forgot to mention that was pretty entertaining. when i was at the trop, they had a big stage set up atop a bank of slot machines. it was almost as soon as you walked in the door. anyways, they had this free live show going on with trapeze type people and some singing also. the acrobats were amazing. the singing wasn't the best singing i've ever heard but the outfits these girls was wearing were very skimpy, including some thongs. i, of course, wasn't watching too closely as i was playing blackjack but the thongs were red, yellow, green and blue. one of the girls had a mole about the size of a sand grain on her hind end, but i wasn't watching that closely.

Reminds me of the Seinfeld routine about selling ad space on the rear ends of gymnasts.....It might be a tiny space, but it gets a LOT of attention :D

Was the sand grain sized mole light or dark in color?
