Dissapointing Flamingo Trip Sept 3rd-6th

Continental Airlines from Shreveport La/Houston Tx roundtrip was $230.00 Excellent price as was the Flamingo room rate of $35.00 a night, also $50.00 in dining coupons.
Room not ready and asked for a room with a view. Was told those rooms were for prefered customers. Thought I was a prefered customer at 4 trips a year for the last 7 years. Rooms avalable for extra $25.00 a night. Just smiled and said no thanks. Room was located way out back and had a great view of the Imperial Palace air conditioners. Food coupons were all 2 for 1 and since I am single, they didn't help.
Reservatons were screwed up, rooms keys didn't work and I was really in a bad mood.
But this is Vegas and I was here to have another great trip.

Gambling started with a trip to the Barbary Coast next door. I have done well on previous trips on the crap table but was soon down 100.00. Had lunch at thier resturant but food was average and service was horrible.
Decided to try Imperial Palace only too lose another 100.00 @ craps. On the way back to my room I decided to try BlackJack at Ohea's. lost 75.00 and never won a single hand @ $3.00 tables. Day 1 down $300.00

Day 2

Decided to play at the Flamingo to get a few points on my slot card and be rated. Crap tables were so cold I think I bought a $60.00 coke within the first 5 minutes. Slot machines were tight and very few people wee winning anywhere in this casino. Lost $135.00.
Bellagio was next and tables were $5 and $10. Bought in for $500.00 and played about 2 hours and cashed in $600.00. Was happy to be able to see what a cashiers actually looked like.
Decided to eat a Bally's and had the buffet. Food was terrible and was about $16.00. I would not eat there again. Decided to head back to the Bellagio and gave them around $200.00 at the crap table and another $200.00 at the Blackjack tables.
Enough gambling for day 2 and decided to try the Flamingo pool. I have to agree they have a great pool design but I saw several seats were saved but were never used. Found out people get up early, place towels on the lounge chairs and go off for the day to gamble or whatever, then come back later if the decide to go swimming. (Also pool is only 3 1/2 feet deep).
Check on food coupons and decided I would decline thier use but met a older couple at a blackjack table that first day and decided they would enjoy the 2 for 1 coupons so I gave them the coupons. The look on thier faces seemed they had hit jackpot. I hope the enjoyed them.

Day 3

Over to the MGM Grand, Tropicana, New York New York and also the Monte Carlo. Can only say I played and lost another $700.00. Better not go into details of losses but made me want to " CRY LIKE A BABY "

Day 4

Could not wait to get on that plane. Decided 4 or 5 trips a year for last 15 years I had taken the worst beating of my gambling life. Looking back I guess I have been very lucky at times to come home ahead.
Have another trip booked before the year is up, but will have to think maybe staying at another casino might just change my luck?

Gamblers are superstitious aren't we!!!!! LOL

 

Sounds like you should be dumping the Flamingo and looking for a casino that will treat returning customers with respect.

So, maybe you'll try downtown next trip and become another convert??

 

I doubt changing resorts to stay at will have a thing to do with whether you win or lose. It's just a room.

The first time we ever stayed at the Flamingo, it was a bad experience. Room was well worn, wasn't clean when they said it would be, bad food, poor service. That was in 2000.

As with most things I'll give a place a second chance. We spent 3 nights there last July on their Bronze offer for $39/night and had a great stay. High floor with view of the pool. Room was very nice this time. Never bother with the pool or restaurants. I've never been a Flamingo casino fan. Very poor pay tables on Video Poker so I assume that's going to transfer over to poor pay back on the slot machines.

Sorry you took a beating this trip. It happens to us all eventually. Makes me appreciate the trips I come out close to even or maybe a little ahead. I'm still waiting for the big win trip myself. I know that royal flush is in my future sometime.

 

I think most of us have experienced a trip like this ... makes you kinda anxious about the next visit. I too am superstitious. I wouldn't change my hotel for sleeping purposes, but I'd rent a car and go elsewhere to gamble.

Just a note of thanks for everyones responses and ideas.
I think LVRON hit it perfect when he said maybe I should look into a casino change. No other city like Vegas on earth, we look forward to having a great trip we also want to be treated well and given great service.
Reminds me of the Travel Channel specials on Vegas where a casino host says all he wants is a shot at your money. Let's seperate you from you wallet and begone. I think everyone wants the treatment of being a High Roller and that is why we stay where we a appreciated.
First 8 years of Vegas I stayed downtown due to package deals at Fitzgeralds, Las Vegas Club, Union Plaza, Horseshoe , and the Golden Nugget.
Played the game of flashing big money for comps and better treatment. Things downtown were pretty rough and became a little uncomfortable and uneasy to stay there. ( There was no Freemont Experience or canopy at that time)
Moved to the strip and tried several casinos like Frontier, Imperial Palace, Harrahs and all at one time or another gave great service and good tratment to customers. I tried the Flamingo Casino and location became the most important factor in my choice of where to stay.
People always say the rooms not important, true but you want to feel comfortable and you want to be treated well for your continued patronage.
Will book elsewhere for the next trip, not for change of gambling luck but maybe I will find better service for my hard earned money.....

is the pits, maybe worth a letter to management?

Maybe a change to another casino next trip would

Sorry to hear your trip was such a disappointment. Although, my upcoming trip to Vegas will only be my second gambling trip to Sin City (and second one this year), we had such a great time at the Tropicana that we hoping they'll continue treating us great and of course we'd like to make a little money while we're at it.

After all is said and done, if my Wife and I can get our gambling time in (and lot's of it) and still do no worst than breaking even (gambling-wise) over the long term, we'll be happy. Just being in Vegas is a thrill and somehow on my last trip, I don't think I thought about work at all.
