  1. This is so frustrating. My husband is going to Vegas for the weekend of the 15th and wives are not allowed. It is a bonus from work that they are paying for. I am so jealous! I work for the same company and they never do anything for us pee ons like that..lol He really is not excited about going because it is (our place) but has to go. Not only is that frustrating but I hate being alone even over night let alone for a whole weekend. We tried really hard to work it out so that I could fly out and meet him but room prices were so high we couldn't afford it. Oh well, he is going to spend most of his time at the Trop builing up more points for comps later.

You could always just show up, and join him in his room (if he is not rooming with someone). Maybe he can pay like an extra 35 bucks for you to be in the room.

    Mello -

That's terrible! You should revolt! [IMG] I'd stuff myself into a suitcase and get there somehow. :D

I've been a couple of times without Dan. One trip I went early and Dan flew in later on in the week. I spend a lot of time on my trips doing boring stuff like talking to casino PR departments, touring properties and taking video and pictures of things we've already seen. Dan doesn't like that part. [IMG] He likes to come in later for the new stuff.

I like traveling alone because I don't have to cater to anyone else's schedule. And I got to have that great bubblebath at Aladdin. I never would have had the opportunity to do that if Dan were with me so I'm glad I went alone.

I guess you could say that I let Dan go there once by himself too. He had a layover at the airport and went to the NitroGrill for lunch and to cash in some rebate checks at Excalibur we got from our credit card company. :D That counts as a trip without me, doesn't it? :D

    hahahahaa!

Going without any family members is Awesome! I love going to Vegas with my wife, but there is just something great about going when you never have to say, "what do you want to do?" or "when do you want to eat?". I think we naturally take care of the people we love, so even when we are "relaxing", we are working to make other people's trip as enjoyable as it can be. I never knew how truly relaxing it was until I did it the first time....I felt bad beforehand (and do a little before each trip), but it was amazing. I keep trying to get me wife to take a vacation with just some friends, but haven't been succesful so far.

My friends are always amazed at the things my wife doesn't have a problem with me doing...playing poker, going to football games, playing golf, the annual Vegas trip with the fella's.... but they don't see the other side of the coin, which is that if you do things for the other person.... send her flowers for no reason, clean the house, take care of the kids...whatever...without being asked or expecting compensation, then your significant other should be happy to let you do things you enjoy.

Ow! dang, I think I twisted my ankle getting off my soap box... heeheehee

For those who have never taken a vacation (even just a couple of days) without your spouse / significant other, I really can't recommend it highly enough. For both people. I recommend going with a friend or friends though...kind of hard to be silly or party by yourself. :D

It's not as hard as you would think. [IMG]

A lot of my Vegas time is solo time anyway. Dan and I don't gamble well together as our styles (and favorite games) are VERY different. He hates it when I tell him he's playing Video Poker wrong  and he hates it when I split 10's.

The only time I really miss him when I'm traveling is at meal time. I don't like going to a restaurant alone because people always give me pity looks like I'm some crazy old maid or something. :D I usually just grab a sandwich or something to go, or I get room service. I'm not a real big eater when we're traveling so that's not usually a problem.

Vegas is an unusual town in that there are so many people doing their own thing on their own schedules that nobody really seems to notice I'm traveling alone. Nobody thinks it's weird that I'm walking around a casino alone, or going up in the elevator alone.

I pay a little bit closer attention to who gets on and off the elevator with me and I've been known to knock on the hotel room door and talk to imaginary people when I open the door so people think someone else is in there, but then again.. I'm a wierdo. [IMG]
