    My Trip Report

    Hi all,
    First installment of or trip.
We arrived 3/10 at Vdara - got to hotel at about 3:30. Tried to use $50 for two room upgrade. She tried but no go for five nights. We did get lake view, very high floor.

Several minor problems in room - all fixed promptly. I don't like the bed - too soft, but I may move to sleeper sofa. Staff extremely friendly and housekeeping came promptly at 9 AM as requested. Bottle of wine left with two glasses - "comped" but no idea why.

Did FSE and downtown last night after getting marrige license and stuff for daughter and finace taken care of. Went by Vegas Weddings to look at chapel - wedding is Saturday.

Did south end of strip - MC, NYNY, Excalibur, Luxor, MB and went back to rest. Kids went to MGM for a bit.

More tomorrow - heading to Venetian for BMG. So far, pretty good trip. Mostly penny slots - not in mood for serious gambling - maybe tomorrow.

We got married @ Paris literally 2 weeks after 9/11. While Vegas was ( and the entire US) kind of in a strange place then, we had an AMAZING time. It was my second, my husband's 1st. Just us, 12 really good friends who drove from all over ( air travel was just strange then) and Vegas. Still one of the best times we have ever had! Congrats on the wedding. Hopefully our bad luck @ Vdara will bring you only good luck!

that reminds me of flight in 9/19/2001....like 5-6 people on flight and vegas was empty in a way that makes this whole recession thing pale in comparison. I remember going into casinos and it was hard to find the one pit of 5-6 open tables.

sounds like Vdara knows shes a VMB'r and is trying to make up for Bellamom's trip with the free wine and all right off the bat!

I didn’t fly after 9/11 until about 4 weeks later. 4 of us from work had to go. My boss drove from NH to NJ instead – claiming that he was visiting his mother and it was more convenient…. I think his wife told him he wasn’t flying!!

3 of us flew – and at the airport (the same one I’d flown out of on 9/10!) the other 2 got pulled for a special security check… I breezed through as the only foreigner and one on a visa!! Very odd.

My boss offered to drive me to NJ as well.. but as I’d had to drive with him from Seattle back to NH after NH I declined. That was way too much time to spend enclosed in a tin can with your boss!!

I made a point of telling them I was a VMB poster and would be posting live. Bellasmom - I told the front desk receptionist that I would expect that Vdara has worked out problems since the last visit from a fellow poster. I hate that you had to go through what you did but maybe they've learned their lesson!

Turndown service was done right last night - good touches with water bottles and glasses by bed and sofa made up.

BMG was an awesome show! Tonight we go to American Storm for the bachelorette party. My oldest daughter made it in last night.

I am so tired after yesterday that I plan to keep close by - maybe go over to PH for a bit of bj. Need to pace myself - getting older ever day.

If anyone wants to watch the wedding, go to www.702wedding.com at 1 PM CST on Saturday. I think we'll be on terrace unless weather is bad.

More later - off to find breakfast!

Man, I am getting too old to keep up!

no gambling so far today -daughters dragged me shopping. First stop Foot Locker for walking shoes. My feet are blazing! Got some men's Nike with gel inserts - much better. Walked Forum Shoppes, then Bridezilla decided she needed to go back to Venetian for necklace for tomorrow. She, daughter # 1, groom to be and ex-usband (girls' dad) took off norht - I headed south. Had nice lunch at Bellagio Cafe - quesadilla excellent and fast service.

Back in room to post, take Lortab and lie down. Since lunch so late, will sleep a while. We're going to American Storm tonight for bachelorette party.

Good gawd this is boring! I've had exactly one drink since arriving Wednesday and only played slots. I'm pacing myself for the weekend!

Vdara maid service good - everything replenished and refilled. They need to dust though!

Will post tomorrow before wedding. nap time!

I am glad they are treating you well. No, they have not "made" good on anything yet, in the hands of the Nevada Attorney General and Arizona Attorney General and AMEX right now, they can handle it. Whatever happens at this point, well happens. We will get back to Vegas. My priority this week is a sick little girl with pneumonia and getting her well!

Have an awesome wedding. Seriously, we had so much fun at our. It was so cool having random people come up and tell us congrats, and just spending it with friends. My favorite memory to date is all my husband's friends taking him to a strip club the night before and praying he would not puke during our wedding. We had to stop our vows twice, yep twice b/c they thought he was going to pass out. If you knew my husband you would appreciate it even more. With our wedding after 9/11, it just made it even more fun. Go to Bellagio and have some champagne on the balcony outside the club ( cant think of the name) and watch the fountains. So romantic. Then go party it up!

OMG Can't believe what I did!

OK - I take the bride daughter to American Storm and we have VIP seats - front row! I tell them she's getting married tomorow and to give her some attention. She's freaking - but not to worry! Who do they drag up on stage?

ME! That's right - my almost-55 year old fat a$$ is up there getting a lap dance. Fellow Vegas-hounds - I had a blast!

I was oldest one taken up (and maybe in audience) and certainly largest. What they didn't know - 35 years ago, I put myself through a year of college as an exotic dancer,so with the help of a rum and coke and audience encouragement - I busted a few of my dirty dancing moves on sweet Josh's tight little tush.

Picture it in your mind - 5'5", 190 lbs, wearing khakis and a casual top. The crowd literally went wild - probably because I look like such a mild mannered old lady. I even got to open the g-string and peek at the full package - no one else got to see what saw!

Oh goodness - I better get some sleep. Can't be tired as mother of the bride, can I?

Hope this gave you a funny visualization - I still can't believe I did it!

Bellamom - hope Bella gets well fast! Tomorrow's bride had asthma as a child and I know how scary it is to have a child so ill! Best to you all!

Thanks! Hmmm... I think I might just jump in my car right now and start driving. It is 7:30am here, I could hit Vegas by 1pm! I think I could use some Vegas fun! Sounds like you are having a blasty! Enjoy today. Looks like finally we are going to have a gorgeous weekend!

    :) Kim

glad to see you ladies getting OUT OF CONTROL in Vegas!!!

my brother-in-law got pulled up in a show and dressed in an elvis outfit with a guitar once, but nothing so outlandish as your story, and how awesome that you had the "skills" in your repetiore to not only go with the flow, but bring down the house with your own show!

    Lauri,
I was too late for the wedding  but I'm sure everything was perfect and I hope they have a lot of happy years together. You're having quite the adventure and I was roaring with laughter reading about your evening...couldn't quite explain it to my teenage girls when they came running into the room.
I'm going to have to check back and read the rest of your trip report. Not going to tell you to have fun...you've got that covered!!

    Good Luck!
    Liz
