    My Trip Report

    First report!

    30 HOURS TO GO

This makes my third trip ever in just short of 5 months!:Þ I will be heading out tomorrow via Southwest out of Indianapolis with my buddy TJ. This is all sort of last minute as we just booked this two weeks ago after I received a free room offer from the Venetian. I didn't want to miss out on this offer since as of yet, I've only been comped rooms at Harrah's properties and the mediocre service with HET has had me looking for a new home base.

My first major score of the trip, and it hasn't even begun, was looking out and getting a FANTASTIC deal on a rental car from Alamo. There's a promotion going on right now for 15% off with code SUNPROMO if you are renting in the Las Vegas area and on top of that I had found a $25.00 off coupon with 3 days or more. Total rental car cost for Tues-Saturday is only $34.63!! Pretty excited about that as the cheapest I had been previously booked for it was $115. Had we not rented a car we would have both paid for the round trip shuttle and that is $30 in itself right there for the both of us.

I'll try to keep this updated as the trip happens, post more later!

Day 1: Dual Hotel Check-Ins then Down.... down some more... nearly out! Saved by the grace of # 34!

We flew Southwest out of Indianapolis, and though its an hour closer for me to fly out of Dayton... it was well worth the extra hour drive in the flight savings and for it being non-stop. My buddy TJ and I had a few free drinks on the flight and the flight arrived nearly 40 minutes early. After getting our luggage we hightailed it to the Rent a Car center and used the check in Kiosk for Alamo. Score! The coupon code I had used to make a reservation for a car work, and we got a car until Saturday for only $34.00.

Decided to try to take no shortcuts and took Las Vegas Boulevard all the way to begin checking in to our hotels. I always end up getting comped rooms at HET properties, and this was the first trip I was able to get comped for Venetian. I reserved a room Tuesday-Saturday for Ballys and check in was absolutely HORRIBLE!!!! As we approached the line there was only one other guest in front of us waiting to check in with about 5 employees already checking guests in. Apparently it must of been shift change or everyone decided they needed a smoke break all at once - because all but 2 employees left their stations leaving us to wait even longer before being called. It took about 25 minutes before we were even called up to the counter to check in. Ended up getting a free upgrade to the North tower with a view, which was nice... but we haven't even been to that room yet. Left straight from there to check in to the Venetian suite that we will be staying in until Friday then the last night head back to Bally's. Customer service was definitely top notch here. Although there were more people waiting in line, it went fast and we checked in with no problems. Only complain is it is a MAZE just to get to our rooms. We have to get in some elevators that up 5 floors then get off and walk around the corner get in another set up elevators and take those up 5 more floors.

By the time we finished checking in and getting situated it was already around 845 at night. I was itching to hit the blackjack tables. Not wanting to blow through my entire BR in one night, I had only brung 1k down with me and kept the remaining 2k in the safe.

Bought in for $1,000 at a double deck while TJ bought in for $200 table minimums were $25.00 I was playing between $25-$75 a hand. It was a real roller-coaster ride and I was up $400 at one point then my black and green chips kept slowly disappearing as more and more people kept jumping in and out of the game.... one of my pet peeves. I just couldn't win this night! EVERY single time I had been dealt an 11 and I go to double down I would draw an Ace making a 12 and dealer would beat me with a 17 or worse I WOULD catch a 10 but dealer would pull a miracle 4-6 card 21.

My $1,000 buy in was dwindling down to only $250 while TJ's was growing and he had several black chips in many different piles at this point. I just couldn't win! The only luck I had was bad luck. I threw $150 down on my last hand... I was feeling it. I get a Blackjack but dealer has a Queen showing... checks for an ace.. Dealer has blackjack. Figures. I let the $150 ride out there and end up drawing a 16 and stay on it against a dealer 5. Dealer made 17.

So far the trip was off to a VERY bad. start. Just blew threw $900 dollars in about 30 minutes. Not wanting to play that last $100 at the BJ table, I ran over to the roulette wheel and threw a quick $25 on numbers 5, 17,20,34...Keeping my fingers cross as I watch the ball roll around the roulette wheel.. I can't explain how it happened but it looked like a magnet just sucked the ball straight in to 34!!!!!!! I was saved! Thank you 34!!:nworthy:

Back up to $900 dollars. Take the green chip that was left on it and asked for red.... this was against my better judgement.... as usually if I hit big on a number on roulette, I leave the original chip out there in the same spot and even sometimes add to it. I spread $5.00 out over 5 numbers this time on 1,5,17,20,34. Bad luck was back....I was kicking myself in the butt as 34 hit again! Although I was annoyed I took that 25 spot off, still glad I got something out of it and I had my money back I blew on BJ thanks to the roulette wheel. For the first time since I was almost down and out.... I got up $75.00.

We did some walking around to several different casinos, played some slots here and there... ended up coming back to the room that night with a $300 profit around 2 AM.....

    More to come later....

I love the Venetian. After staying many other places, that's above and beyond my favorite so far.

I'm a big proponent of the roulette comeback. I've multiple times been down to my last $200 and placed it all on a "go-to-bed bet" on red or black to make my decision to stop the bleeding for me.

LOVE that hotel! The roulette wheel has been kind to me there as well. Hope you win a bundle!
Also, in the afternoon, look for this great band playing next to the casino floor. Group of guys all wearing white. Seems like they play about 4pm...
    Jammin music!

    Keep writing, we want more!

    Good Luck,
    Liz

:eek:Congrats on the roulette comeback! You are in the Venezia tower at the Venetian, up to the 10th floor and if you don't have a terrazzo suite on the 10th floor, you get in another bank of elevators. A tip for the future, the terrazzo suites are wonderful...nice big terrace right out at the pool and you don't have to make that second trek up another bank of elevators. The Venetian tower doesn't have the maze to get through but I really like the Venezia tower with it's private pool.
