    My Trip Report

First a little background, this is my 2nd trip to LV and my bf R’s first trip. This trip was supposed to happen last Sept, but I ended up getting the flu and so we had to reschedule our trip. R is a police officer and I work 2 jobs so the earliest our schedules would allow for a vacation was feb 23-26.

We left out of SAT on Southwest right before a storm of sleet and snow was to hit the San Antonio area. I was nervous that we wouldn’t be able to fly, but we made it out just in time! We arrived in LV about 10 minutes early and our luggage arrived quickly. Off to the rental center, to pick up my Economy car from Alamo. The guy outside tells me to go ahead and pick an intermediate car because he has a lot of them. SCORE! We were upgraded to a Dodge Caliber.

We get to Planet Hollywood at about 10:00 and make the mistake of parking in the self park garage. We had to walk thru the Miracle Mile shops in order to get to the Lobby. Thank goodness we left our luggage in the car. After we checked in we moved the car to valet and did valet the rest of the trip. There was only about a 10 minute wait to check in and when we got to the counter I asked for a complimentary upgrade and was given a Resort Vista room. SCORE! We received room 1780 which had an awesome view of the Bellagio Fountains and the Eifel Tower and had movie memorablia from ‘Batman Returns’. The room was awesome! I could soak in the tub and watch the fountains or watch the big screen tv in the bathroom! The separate shower was large enough for two and there were two separate thermostats in the room, one in the bathroom and one in the bedroom.

Off to lunch in the Miracle Mile Shops at Cheeseburger in Paradise. R didn’t sleep the night before since he was on duty till 3:00am and we left for the airport at 5:15 am. So we didn’t want to venture too far for food, since he was going to need a nap. Food was very good. I got a guacamole burger and R got the ‘Redneck Burger’ which was basically a patty melt on Texas toast. I also had a pina colada that was outstanding! After lunch R went to go take a nap and I stayed in the mall and decided to shop! :wink

After his nap we went down to the casino to play some slots, but didn’t win anything and our $$ went quick! PH has the Pleasure Pit with girls pole dancing and R enjoyed that! We then decided that we needed to walk, so we went south. Ended up at NYNY and got slices of pizza. Started making our way back because we were both sleepy.

    Wednesday
R woke up very early and went down to Starbucks to get me a coffee and danish to start the day. We decided that today we would drive to Hoover Dam. We weren’t interested on taking the tour, he just wanted to see the dam. So off we go at @7:00 and we have no traffic and no wait at the security check point. We park in the free parking on the Arizona side and take plenty of pictures. It really amazes me at how low the water is in Lake Mead. Since we’re so early and there is no traffic, I can drop R off and he can take all the pics he wants and then I can turn around and pick him up
After Hoover Dam we head back to LV and decide to check out M Resort. Beautiful place! Very modern décor and laid back atmosphere. There was a HUGE line for the buffet so we decided to get back in the car and drive up the strip. Next place we come to is SouthPoint. We stopped in because they were having a Horse Cutting Championship and it was free. Yes, we’re from Texas and we love all things rodeo!!! :cowboy: South Point was a very nice surprise and I think we’ve found our new place to stay. The casino was light and airy and there was no smell of smoke. I found a ‘miss kitty’ slot and she was very good to me. I won over $300 on her, and R won $90 on a Goldfish machine. By this time we were starting to get hungry so we headed back to PH to eat at the Spice Market Buffet. It was good, lots of fresh food, and plenty of selection. After we stuffed ourselves it was time for a nap so we would be ready for our show tonight.

R really wanted to see the ‘Rat Pack is Back’ show. I went back and forth in deciding if we should go to the one downtown or the one at the Sahara…after reading the reviews and finding discount tickets from Goldstar, we decided on going to the Sahara show. It was amazing!!! We had such a great time and we enjoyed it so much, we’d probably do it again! The only negative was that we each got a diet pepsi before the show and it was $13.50!?! CRAZY!

Being the party animals that we are, we went back to PH and lost more $$ in the slots and shortly after that went up to the room.

    THURSDAY

Once again we’re up early! We decide to go to the Bellagio buffet for breakfast and OMG it was amazing!! R was so happy to see beef tenderloin on the breakfast buffet and I really enjoyed all the fresh fruit. One funny thing that happened was an asian man was trying to figure out what do with the sausage gravy and kept stirring it and stirring it. He got the attention of the chef and asked him what is was and the chef replied “oh, this is an american delicasy, you MUST try it!†Funny but I would never have thought biscuits and gravy were an American delicasy!!

After breakfast we decided to walk North up the strip and check out all the casinos. We went thru the Paris, Bally’s Bill’s, Flamingo all the way up to the Venetian, then back down to Caesars Palace. We enjoyed seeing the flamingos and the Bugsy memorial at the Flamingo. We also went to the wax museum. We were going to stop in at Carnival Court on the way back to PH, but we were exhausted and just wanted to get back to the room. This was NASCAR weekend so when we got back to the PH, we could look down at the NASCAR parade on the strip. Very cool! I wanted to take R downtown before we left, so we headed out there and watched one light show then headed back. All the walking really wore us out!

We had dinner at Earl of Sandwich, which was excellent and cheap! Then we packed our stuff so we could get ready to leave in the morning. Watched one more fountain show and went to bed.

Our flight was delayed due to a mechanical problem with the plane and they had to get a new plane for us. I was really impressed with SWA because they called my cell phone to update me on the gate change we were going to have. We made it home safely and we’re already planning our next trip in October!

Thanks for reading, this was my first attempt at a TR, so I apologize for any spelling or grammatical errors!

I also want to say thank you to everyone on this forum. You guys really helped make this a great get away for us! :nworthy:

Great TR! I'm getting excited for our trip. We fly out Thursday and are staying at Bally's. I wanted to stay at Planet Hollywood, but we figured with the money we're saving, we could spend more on shows and gambling. Glad you enjoyed your trip!:thumbsup:

I enjoyed reading your TR as well! Thanks for posting. I was surprised how many people read my little TR, but I got good info/perspective from yours, so it benefits many to write about your experiences!

Wonderful TR , thanks for sharing

lol @ American delicacy of biscuits and gravy

I had some from the Harrahs buffet in the *southern foods section* as we don't get them up here in Canada, and very tasty indeed!

Glad you got to see some rodeo stuff too ...... rodeo is big up here, Calgary has a little one each year called the Stampede , fun times over those 10 days!
