My wife Jennifer is in Brazil for a month with her sister. I was going but watching my 401K was a bigger priority at this time. 1st day: Went to Avi casino which is located below Laughlin in Nevada it is an Indian casino. They have $2 BJ with 3-2 payouts, $1 craps with 3-4-5 odds, free Internet, $.99 ham & eggs that's pretty good. They allow smoking in their restaurants because they can. + $50ish for the day. 2nd day: Nothing special, ate at the buffet and it was about average. -$400. 3rd day: Drove into Vegas and stopped at the Cannery next to Sam's Town and I liked it. They had $3 craps with 100 x odds. The casino had a very comfortable feel to it and some VG VP. Went to the snack bar by the race book and ordered a hot dog, it came with coke and fries for $2.25. I love off the strip places. I left their and stopped by the El Cortez to see a couple of the people that I knew from the Plaza, Chris and Cesar. They told me that they have been laying off quite a bit. Played my favorite machine there (3 Way Poker) and headed to the Plaza. Check-in was a breeze. It's now located on the first floor again and I like it much better. None of the mini-suites were ready so I took a Jr. suite in the North tower. This was the view from my room: BTW, request the South Tower because only two of the elevators are working in the North Tower. Waiting on parts is what I was told. Called my buddy and ex co-worker and invited him to come down. He loves it there because they really take care of us. He was there in the morning. Fun guy to be around. Gambling Gods were not with me on this day. Lost about $450. 4th day: My buddy showed up fairly early and the first thing he wanted to do was hit the bar and VP machines there. He sits at the bar and plays VP all day and night. You can aways find him in the same seat. All the bartenders know him now and really take care of him. Only plays one quarter at a time on money last him forever it seems like. When we sat down and started playing VP, I was crying on his shoulder about how bad I had been doing and I hit four Aces without the kicker. Anyway, for the next four or five hours I couldn't lose. No Royals but just kept getting quads + kicker when they were the good ones. I cashed and put my TITO in my pocket at $500 and put in another twenty. An hour later I did the same with a $700 ticket and put in another twenty. It didn't stop there and I ended up with $1,770 in TITO. Damn this game if fun. :evillaugh Played BJ for the rest of the night and woke up the next day with two black chips in my pocket and I was afraid to count my money. No total for the day. 5th day: Played VP most of the day with some losses but nothing significant. That evening, I went over to the girlie pit at which is very close to the new lounge and enjoyed the view. Nothing fantastic, but very nice. The BJ was good too. :evillaugh The band started at 8:30 and they were fantastic. There was about eight black guys on the stage doing Mo-Town, at least that's what I was told it was. They sounded so good. The crowd kept growing and the place was packed. One of the bosses told me it was that crowded every night that they perform. They are going to enlarge the area to accommodate more people. Ended up minus about $200 for the trip. That's my total cost except for gas. BTW, they have moved the poker room again. They have been having layoffs as all the other casinos have. Seemed like most of the Downtown joints have Girlie pits.
Thanks for the TR Don! One quick thing about the Avi... they also have one of the largest fireworks displays at the Avi. They bring in some master firework creator folks who test out all of their newest and greatest fireworks for the show. They have a show every July 5, then the have another one sometime in the year (can't remember when). My parents live near by and head to the Avi often.
I enjoyed reading your TR. You had a great VP run. I'd have fun with that game too if I got all the wins you had. Nice that you played a lot and ended up only 200 down! Thanks for posting.
Hey Don.... Is that Chris Nichols you were going to see at the ElCo who used to work at the Plaza? Chris is a great guy...sorry to hear they are laying people off there. SteveB
Wow..thats a cool view from your room. Nice turn around on the VP! I would love to see a turnaround like that. Thanks for the report.
