    My Trip Report

I flew out of Charlotte on 02/22 with a lay over in Houston, got off the plane in Houston made a pit stop and by the time I got to the gate they were already boarding my zone. The first thing I thought to myself 'this is gonna be a good trip'. Made the 2.5 hr flight to Vegas, got off the plane and by the time I hit baggage claim my bag was just coming around on the belt. Again I thought to myself, 'this is gonna be a great trip'. Off to the taxi line and over to the Palms. I had 2 nights comped and a 3rd night for $79 (casino rate). I was gonna try the $20 trick, but the front desk manager was standing beside the clerk, so I asked if any upgrades were available and bam, she gave me a complimentary upgrade to a Junior Suite (I thought to myself, this is getting better by the minute).

    02/22 (Total bankroll 2k)
I took my bags up to my room, change out of my sweats, freshend up a bit and took my evening session bank roll ($500) down to the casino around 10:30 pm. I only play slots ($1 and $5 mostly) so I sat at one of the empty banks of machines (the dollar slots always seem to be empty at the Palms :) and started spinning. I hit for a few hundred and moved around to various machines and before I know it I was up about 800. I then remembered my $350 in free play offer, so I visited club Palms and they gave me the first 150 in free play and told me I needed 2 hrs of play for the first 24 hrs to qualify for the additional 200. I continued to play for exactly 2 hrs and cashed out. I decided to get room service and headed back up to the room. After counting my winnings I was still up 500 for the night and that would give me 1000 to play with tomorrow.
Funny point of the night: While running some change through the penny machines, I noticed a lil hottie at the next machine playing and smoking the same brand as me, so I decided to do a little chatting. I asked if she was having any luck. She didn't answer and promptly cashed out. Guess I must've looked really scary or something :)

02/23 morning session (Total bankroll 2500)
I did a quick breakfast at the buffet for $8 and decided to hit the slots again. I found a dollar 10 times pay machine in the back and stuck in 500. After playing for over 2 hrs straight (5 budweisers and 2 shots of grey goose) I still had over 300 credits. I ordered a water, lit up a smoke and bam, I hit for 1000 credits. I cashed out and headed back up to my room to put my winnings in the safe. I came back down a few mins later and decided to try my luck on the high limit slots. I found a nice $5 machine and threw in 500. After about 20 mins or so, I hit for 500. Repeated my cash out and money in the safe routine. Decided to grab some lunch and get a quick nap.

02/23 evening session (Total bankroll 4200)
After a refreshing nap, I decided to hit the slots again. Found an interesting double/4 times pay machine and stuck in 500. Got down to 324 and then it happened: 4x, triple bar, 4x. Machine locked up and displayed call attendant. I looked at the screen and it said I won a 1600 hand pay. Thanks to all the great info on this site I didn't lose my cool. I just got my id out and waited for an attendant to come by. I was finally able to flag one down and she took my info and brought the W2-G and cash back. Gave her a 20 tip and decided to cash out and hit the safe. Came back downstairs later that evening and played through 1000 plus my 350 in free play.

02/24 am session (Total bankroll 4800)
Hit the bfast buffet again and decided to see if I could do a repeat of yesterday's performance. Put 500 into my favorite 10 times pay machine and it wasn't looking pretty when I got down to 84 credits, then bam: I hit for another 1k on that machine. The funny thing was, it was the same machine and the same matching symbols as the previous day I had played (at around the exact same time) :) I decided to cash out and take my money back up to the room.

I later hit the bars downstairs, had lunch, did a little pic taking and decided to take a nap before hitting the strip.

02/24 afternoon session (Total bankroll 5800)
Decided to run 1000 through the $5 dollar machine. Got down to my last spin and hit for 400 and cashed out. Caught a cab over to the Bellagio and ran through about 800. Walked over to the Venetian and ran through 600 or so on the various slots. While walking down the strip I decided to hit various casinos and ran my bank roll down to about 3500. Since this was the first time I'd even had money left in Vegas I decided I should probably take the money and run. Cabbed back over to the Palms to see how many comps I had to use towards my room. After everything was added up, my total hotel bill was $46. The funny thing is, I had racked up over 20k in play over my stay :)

I figured there's no way I'd make it through the next 18 hrs with my bankroll intact, so I decided to change to an earlier flight and leave Vegas at 1am Wednesday morning instead of my schedule 11:45 flight. Paid the $50 change fee and checked out around 9:30. Made it to the airport around 9:50 and back in Charlotte the next morning at 11am.

The best part of the trip, after subtracting all of my cab fares, food, and incidentals I actually came back with 3100. That's the first time in my over 20 trips to Vegas that I've come back in the black:D

Well done. I remember fondly my 1 and only winning trip and it was just a small amount. But a win is a win, is it not? Congrats and thanks for a fun read.

I've had 3 trips like that to Vegas of the 20 or so that I've taken and it is an awesome feeling. Coming home early was a great call.

Oh, and thanks for admitting you nap in Vegas. I do too but boy I catch hell for it from folks on this board.

Marty, who catches more hell - you for taking a nap in order to give it the old college try to keep up with this gang or me for not even trying?

Apurvis - most excellent trip. I love it when Vegas treats people like that! It give (usually false) hope to the rest of us.

Well Marty, I'm not sure if I can consider them naps since I technically was drunk :) I think that falls under the passing out for a few hours category :)

great move---I actually tried to change my flight a couple times but it was always so expensive.

Then I developed a mind trick where I just tell myself over and over how I can do a return trip sooner than planned with the winnings if I don't blow them the last day. On 3 of my last 8 trips I didn't gamble the last 24 to 48 hours quitting on a big win. That seems to work for me, although nothing works better than that flight out of town.

mad props for doing it on slots as well.:drunk:
