I'll stick with the details which could help the board on future trips:

October 29: Hooters - Arrived at 7:30pm and checked into Hooters with my $29 / night special. The room wasn't great but was a good value. I also received a $25 match play coupon and two free breakfast buffet vouchers which came in handy my first and last (days after I checked out) mornings of the trip. I won my match play bet wagering the full $25 (you can bet less) and thus my room was basically "comped". I received a 5th floor tower room. Special Good Through end of December

October 30 - 31: MGM Grand Room Walked across the street to MGM to see if the $20 trick would get me a strip view / room upgrade and early check in. It did and I really liked the "regular" room. My 17th floor view spanned from Monte Carlo through Mandalay Bay. They could use a TV upgrade (old 27 inch w/ bad reception - I wanted to watch some of the early games in the room while getting up).

Shower nozzle was excellent as it produced a high pressure stream which I really appreciated. Booked the room at $69 Thursday / $99 Friday w/ $35 free food / entertainment credit + free drinks and free room service breakfast.

This was my first time staying at the MGM and I was really impressed, loved the rooms and will return.

November 1-2: MGM Signature Booked the deal through this awesome company for the incredible rates of $129 Sat & $89 Sunday. I've stayed in at least a dozen different hotels in Vegas and this was by far my favorite room (11-705). Private Balcony (with no noise when the doors were closed unlike the Stardust Balconies), jacuzzi, nice kitchen / living room set up (including a pull out queen sized bed if you need a second bed with all the bedding requirements in the closet. Your room is preassigned (no $20 trick) when you book through the company linked above as they own or manage many units within the three towers. If you want the suite experience at regular room rates, check out this site. People who do not like to walk several blocks at a time should be aware it is quite a hike from the Signature to the Casino in MGM (though it is connected via an indoor walkway with three people movers) and further still through the casino to the Strip but for people who like to walk / are not in a hurry it is no problem.

Played mostly poker and sports wagering (did OK on the Poker, lost a little on Sports). Hit the Flamingo (decent), Caesars (dead - table brushed at 10:30 pm), Mirage (always my favorite) and El Cortez rooms (on the advice of Dewey). Sat next to Jackie who everyone (i.e. the regulars) revered. Action Jackson wasn't on hand but I am sure Dewey would recognize several of the usual suspects. Lost a little due to the fact that the game was so tight and it was hard to get much of a pot with the nuts / excellent hand but the game was worth it for the entertainment factor alone and the free meal was good. Took the 116 back to the Signature and it dropped me off right behind the back entrance (downtown to room in 30 minutes).

Bought a one day Monorail pass and really enjoyed the view / time savings over the deuce (which I didn't ride the entire trip) and hope it can survive through connecting with the airport.

I also won an extra free hour in Vegas with the clock change!!!

Stayed out until near sunrise Friday / Saturday and was finally dead tired late Sunday and caught an earlier flight home.

This trip was made excellent with all the great tips from the board.

My next trip is Jan 2-11 during the busy Electronics Convention and my 3-4 star rooms are under $70 each and every night (Flamingo $65 / weekend nights, Paris $60 / night, South Point under $55 / night during the four nights of the convention (Wednesday-Saturday night with Sunday check out).

I'm sending a donation to this site which hopefully others will consider after all of the great deals and conversation the board has to offer.

Great TR - thanks. Can I ask - I have a friend going Jan. 8 to 12 - were the rates you quoted partially "comped" by the Casino or did you get a deal - those are awesome rates for that very busy time. Just wondering - thanks..

Wow, that hooters deal is crazy.

Question about it though. When I look on the website for it, it says 2 breakfast buffets, $25 match play, one free drink, and $200 free slotplay, but you only mentioned the buffets and $25 in free slots. Was the $25 a real offer, and the $200 some sort of bs promotion?

I also claimed the free drink in their Country & Western Bar (they play both kinds ) called Dixies.

The $200 Free Slot Play is in a roped off section. The attendants put in two real $100 bills. There is a $1,000 and $100 prize and $50 jackpot prizes (IIRC) but you cannot cash out partially used credits / credits won unless you reach an enormous credit total (1800 credits wins $50). After 5-10 minutes the money was gone.

They also gave away a free show of your choice, gave you $60 for $50 in their poker room with one hour play (only one table going when I was in the casino and it was no limit which I don't play except in tournaments) and a few other coupons.

When I went down for my breakfast Thursday morning at 8am there were literally three gamblers in the entire game tables area (BJ, Roulette, Craps, etc.). They could really use the customers and hence the specials. They also have their famous Hooters wings for $0.25 each from midnight through 6am which is a great deal to soak up some alcohol.

I found the rates (which still exist) on Travelocity ($45 on the 7th & 8th and $78 for the weekend (9th & 10th)) and I called the hotel to match which they did.

I didn't want a smoking room assigned and Travelocity had no options. When I called the hotel they said preferences were noted but not guaranteed. However, they stated their hotel only has two smoking floors so I am not too worried about getting stuck in smoking.

Lol, I am tempted to book the room for one night and not actually stay there.
