    My Trip Report

What can I say, I had a great trip!
It started with a fantastic fare on Spirit Airlines. $42.72, yes, that is forty two dollars and change, total for round trip, non stop, out of Ft. Lauderdale. Love those Spirit sales. Alamo rental $95.18 for a mid size for and Red Rock Resort comped for entire stay with $100 in free play as a bonus upon check in. I was a winner before I left Ft. Lauderdale.
I chose to take only a carry on. It is amazing how well you learn to pack when you don't want to pay extra for checked baggage.
    Day 1
I arrived at the airport 3 hours prior to flight time so I could choose a seat without having to pay ahead for a seat. At first I was assigned seat 15 window but I learned that someone was sitting in the middle seat. I was then changed to 23 window and the middle seat was vacant and remained that way. We boarded and left on time, which is always a plus. The flight was for the most part smooth. There was slight turbulence but not much. We landed in Vegas 15 minutes early but there was another flight at our gate and we had to wait on the tarmac until it backed out. We got to the gate about 5 minutes early. I grabbed my carry on and headed directly to the car rental bus area.
I rented from Alamo so it was easy to walk up to their kiosk and check in. Went to get my car and there were hardly any vehicles left (I arrived at 11 PM). They upgraded me to a nice Chevy Malibu with sunroof. Did a vehicle inspection and headed out to the Red Rock.
I checked into room 15125, usually I want a low floor but the hotel was sold out, had a lovely view of the strip. I gambled for about two hours but I was exhausted. I went up to the room unpacked and went to sleep.
    Day 2
Got up around 7 AM and headed to the casino. Played for a little while and met with one of my friends. We decided to go to 9 AM bingo. We played partners and walked away $75 ahead (each of us). I was amazed that there were hardly any people there. I hate bingo but this was fun. I realized that the hotel had not put the $100 in free play on my card so I had to go to the players club to get that taken care of. We then went and ate breakfast at the cafe. Food was good and service was fast. After eating we went to play the poker machines. I played the double double bonus machines. No huge wins but quite a few small 4 of kinds to keep me occupied. Tried more bingo and luckily we broke out even. We then tried our luck at Pai Gow poker. I had not played in a long time so it took a little while for me to adjust. I was not doing well at first. It finally turned around and I walked away $50 up. I went back to playing the poker machines and I hit 4 deuces for $250. I then tried the 50 cent machine and hit 4 deuces for $500. Played a little longer and decided to head up to the room to relax before I put the money back into the machines.
Went back down around 6 PM and played the machines. I was hitting little things here and there which managed to keep me afloat. I went back to the cafe at 10 PM grabbed a sandwich to go and headed up for the night.
    Day 3
Tried bingo again, waited a lot but no wins. 9 AM bingo was still very empty. I decided to go back and try a few poker machines. I hit some small 4 of a kinds again but it was costing me money today. Took a break but was to lazy to go for a drive so I just wandered around checking out the hotel and pool. Went up to the room and rested.
My friend called and said she was going to South Point and wanted to know if I would like to join her. Since my luck was not to good at Red Rock today, I said I would go. The drive was very easy from the Rock to the Point. I tried the Deuces Deluxe machines she liked but all they did was take my money. I wanderer around and tried a few other machines with no luck. We decided to eat that the cafe at the Point and take a break from our evil ways. After eating we went back to the machines. I was ready to call it a day but I took a shot at a round of Deuces Deluxe machines at the end of the bar near the cashier. I was having fun playing, not winning much but not losing. All of a sudden I hit a Royal for $1000.00. I was so excited. I cashed out and left. Nice ending to my day.
    Day 4
Went down for the 9 AM session of bingo. Guess what? There were lots of people there. I had no luck there and I tried the machines for short time. No luck again.
My host had comped me a cabana. I had never had a cabana before. My friend, her daughter, and grandson came and we laid out by the pool at the Red Rock. What a nice experience. The cabana had a TV, phone, fan, mister, safe, fridge, couch, two chairs and a coffee table. The fridge was fully stocked and there was no charge for the drinks. There were 4 people who waited on us during the day. They brought a fresh fruit tray, newspapers and towels. We were assigned 4 lounge chairs and shared a private pool with 3 other cabanas. I felt like we were living the life styles of the rich and famous. They ordered food from the grill and sodas for lunch. It was balmy 110 degrees by 2 PM. I did get some color but by around 3 PM I had enough and went up to the room. After showering and resting, it was back to the casino for more fun. Tried my luck at several machine but was not winning. Went to the buffet and had dinner then back to the machines. Still not much luck so I decided to call it a day.
    Day 5
Today I had to check out but my host, bless his heart, got me a 6 PM check out time. After having some breakfast and trying my luck at the machines I decided to go to the Sun Coast. They have a deli there with the largest muffins I have ever seen. I promised my kids that I would bring them home some blueberry muffins. I wanted to buy the sticky buns and the bagels, which were also huge, but I had only a carry on bag to store them in. I had the girl put 4 muffins into Styrofoam containers. I hoped they would survive the airport check in.
I was going to play the machines at Suncoast but decided not to. I headed back to Red Rock. I played for a while and then left to go to my friends home for a visit before heading out. I had a nice visit and when I left her house I went to the Orleans. I played for a while, wandering around the casino. I ate at Fridays there and then went to the machines by the cashier. I played the 50 cent video poker machine there. I played Double Double and I hit a $2000.00 Royal just in time to leave Vegas. I came home with an IRS form for that win but I managed to come home with more money than I left with. I left the casino, gased the car for $3.99 a gallon, and headed for the airport smiling all the way.
I even played the poker machines at the gate and won $100, of course I only left with $20 of it but I had a balast.
Our flight left on time and was uneventful.
As I said in the beginning this was a great trip. I had not had a winning trip in the past 3 trips. My friend told me to change what I played. I have always loved playing the progressive poker machines but they are so volatile and I lose more money on them than I win. I guess she was right because this time I played mostly the regular machines (I can't totally give up on the progressives, LOL). Now I am looking for another great fare and I will head back to Vegas for more fun.

Spirit has some outrageous fares. The really cheap ones are date specific and sell out quickly. The lowest they have is a penny each way plus taxes. I have not seen Vegas on that sale yet. Yesterday it was $8 each way (No Vegas). When I bought my ticket it was $11 each way plus tax. The dates were such that I could go 9 days, 5 days or 3 days. Right now the sale is not that hot but you never know. Next sale will be Saturday. I will be watching. Spirit offers the most destination out of Ft. Lauderdale and fortunately for me, that is my home airport. They have approx. 5 to 6 sales a week and when you see a fantastic fare you have to book it, then worry later if you can go.
