    My Trip Report

Unfortunately it's over  Thanks to everyone for all the input, it was an excellant trip!!
    Dollar Car Rental
-Signed up before hand for their Express club (thanks again for the tips). Got aboard the shuttle, arrived @ Rental Center and there was a huge line @ Dollar, but hey, I'm an express member so I bypass the line and head to the garage, wait about 5 minutes and load up my bags!!

    RESTAURANT REVIEWS:
Cruised the strip to kill time before checkin and decided to stop in at Mon Ami Gabi for lunch. Very short wait and off to our seat on the patio - I was a little concerned of the heat, but with the air pulling out of the building it was very comfortable. Forgot that the fountain show started early on Sunday so we were suprised with a show. The food was WONDERFUL! (we ordered ham & ch. crepes and steak/frites). We will definetly be back here.

The next day we headed back to Paris to try the buffet that I had read so much about. We didn't get up as early as planned so by the time we arrived and waited in line for 30 minutes it was the lunch menu. We aren't big buffet fans anyway, but wasn't really impressed with anything other than the crepe station. Service was also terrible at our section - until the waitress at the next section came over and started filling drinks, etc. Paid our bill and headed back to the machines to play a little more and the Mrs. says - I'm not feeling too good. She heads to the bathroom and after 45 minutes of gut renching puking :vomit: she returns. So needless to say, I take her to the room and spent the day on my own. I felt fine so it must have been some kind of vegetable or cheese (that's the only things she ate that I didn't).

Later that night we stopped in at Kahunaville for some drinks and appetizers before Mystere. They were passing out 2for1 drink cards @ TI so it was an ok value - fun atmosphere.

Grabbed a slice of pizza & salad @ NYNY pizza joint, that we probably could have done w/out.

Tuesday we went to MGM @ the Rainforest Cafe. Again, it was a neat, one-time deal, but definetely not worth a return trip. That night we had tickets for the Knights of the Roundtable - dinner was terrible as I had expected.

    NYNY
Check in with a very unfriendly lady, who says if we want a room w/ sometype of view its an additional $20 a night. We decline and head to our room on the 4th floor. We get off the elevator and see the room #'s start @ 450's and we are in 408 - ugh. We walk, turn, walk, turn, walk, turn and walk some more....go in look things over open the curtain to a lovely view of the casino roof and check out the bathroom. In their room descriptions on their website, they advertise that the Park Avenue deluxe rooms are an upgrade from the Skyline rooms and that the luxurious bathrooms have glass enclosed showers. Well, I notice that ours has a nasty curtain that you inevitably have to rub against as you try to shower - So I call the front desk asking about the glass enclosed tub/shower - the girl says she'll check w/ her manager to see what room #'s have that. She comes back and says none of those rooms are like that, and she can move me to another room but it will be just like the one I'm in - fine, thanks - i'm not walking down that hall again for the same thing. In my room "investigation", I also found a couple of dirty socks and a package of condoms on top of the entertainment center, so if your ever in need of those items while in Vegas, just check out NYNY.
Definetly wouldn't stay at this place again or recommend to anyone. The housekeeping dept. was very friendly, always greeting as they passed by, but any desk clerk I encountered had a stick up their ...:poke:

    SHOWS:
We say Trisha Yearwood on Sunday night at the Orleans - absolutely AMAZING!!! I could go on and on about her voice and stage presence!!!

Went downtown to the Freemont Experience and it was nice. Also got to hear a very good band singing some Metallica, Nirvana, Def Lepard, etc. Downtown was a very fun environment!

Monday we went to Mystere. It was a neat show, I didn't understand that whole baby thing, but overall it was a very unique experience and I would recommend seeing it once. We left a little early to make it to the Venetian to see Wayne Brady, since I was told that afternoon that they would lock the door at 9:00 sharp. Well, the show was cancelled as Wayne was sick. What a complete bummer! We decide we'll high tail it back to NYNY and get tickets to Zumanity @ 10:30. Get to the box office about 9:45 and the show was dark!!! After my wife had had enough of my shitty mood, we went our seperate ways - her to the casino me to bed :grrr: Thanks Wayne for screwing up our plans - lol.

Tuesday we went to Excalibur to the Knight show - against the advice of some of the reviews I had read here and discovered that we should have heeded the advice - it was a pretty average experience - it might be fun for kids. Speaking of kids ........ I tripped over more strollers than I do at the zoo! Parents - take a vacation and leave the kids w/ grandma & grandpa! If you don't want to leave the kids, try Disneyland not casinoland!

We then went to see Roseanne at the Sahara with the tickets we picked up @ the 1/2 price place by the coke bottle. I had heard very few good comments about her, but am a fan and really enjoyed her show. Didn't agree with alot she said, but still laughed my butt off!

    PS -
Loved Paris, Bellagio, and Venetian - maybe because thats where I won at. Definetly look forward to future stays there.
I plan on staying away from NYNY hotel & casino - very bad experience.
Highly recommend renting a car. It was our first time w/ a car and it was great! Easy to get around, park, etc.

    LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT TIME!!!!

Good TR, bad hotel experience. Bummer. Hope overall it was great, though! I would love to see Trisha Y in concert; what a voice she has! I wonder if Garth was there somewhere listening...!

Good report.... glad to see someone else has the Dollar Express.... just signed up for mine for our next trip in November.... had to wait so long in long long lines in April and just knew there was an easier way... am looking forward to trying it out.... do you have to stop in at the center above or just get off the shuttle and head right down to the garage????Just need to know how to go about it so that I do not waste any of my precious VEGAS TIME in another line.... thanks

NYNY must be going downhill. We had an AWFUL stay there in May. Dirty rooms, noisy, not in good condition and desk clerks that were total a**holes. No wonder they're offering me 3 free nights and $100 in free play to come out!

Just to clarify - after reading my TR it sounded like I had a terrible time - not the case at all. I'd go back today if I could, just not impressed at all with NYNY for what I had to pay (now if I got the deal Tara has, I could probably deal with their sorry attitudes!)

Leeza - Trisha said he was supposed to be at home cleaning the house - I was hoping he might stroll out on stage and sing a few with her!

Momasidechick - just go to the escalators heading down (to the left of the Dollar center), go through the doors and there is a Dollar booth there that you check in at. We were off the plane and on the strip w/in an hour!

wow, I stayed at NYNY over Labor Day weekend in 2005 and it was a great experience. The pool lounging was great, people were friendly, gambling was good (guess thats the case anywhere you win)
