    My Trip Report

    Hey all!!

So we left Portland, OR around 1:25pm, landed in Vegas around 3:30pm. Uneventful flight...

Grabbed our luggage and a town car and headed to our hotel, MGM. Booked the room online, just the special, a standard room with 2 queens (it's me, my husband and my friend cheryl). Got to check in, had a super nice lady helping us and I sweetly asked if we could please get an upgrade with a view if at all possible, and if so that would be fantastic. haha. No 20 dollar trick. Ended up in a great room (not sure what it was called. Pretty standard room, but the elevators were right off the main lobby basically and we had the first room on floor 24. Had huge pics everywhere of older celebrities and our view was AMAZING... could see the entire excalibur, and the statue of liberty at NY NY etc it was gorgeous at night..). Chilled in the room for about a half hour, then headed out!

First stop was of course VP, lol. We had a few good rounds then caught a taxi to Margarittaville to meet up with some friends who were also in town. Had a great dinner (the crab/mushroom dip and the huge nachos which 4 of us shared), and some great drinks. Headed from there to O'Sheas where we proceeded to make a killing on the blackjack table (I was up about 300) and my friend Cheryl entertained the entire casino with two rounds of karaoke haha. it's amazing how much a good lookin' girl will attact a crowd, she had the entire casino singing with her... (She's 22, and was singing Journey and the Eagles.. she made several friends that night lol).

So left O'Sheas and went walking towards our hotel. The three of us were a lil tipsy (ok, drunk) and made it as far as the Paris where we caught a cab back to MGM. Cheryl said she needed a 'nap' so we went to the room, but after 10 min i was ready to gamble so the hubby (G) and I headed downstairs and played for a bit and then grabbed a snack at the cafe. Cheryl never woke up from her nap. ;), We didn't make it more than an hour and a half, I was exhausted. It was 2.

Next morning hungover a bit and ordered the bakery basket and a couple drinks from room service to get ourselves going while we got ready. Headed down to the pool and rented a couple tubes to go down the lazy river. G and I went down the lazy river prob 3 times we totally LOVED it, and I finally dragged Cheryl in to go down once (she likes to sunbathe and doesn't like gettin in the pool so much. I failed to mention to her the fact she'd get totally soaked, and pretended that she could just float lazily down barely get wet... HAHA!) she attracted much attention in her barely there bikini, but she had a good time lol. Got back to our room for showers and to get ready for lunch... headed down to Paris for lunch at Mon Ami Gabi..

Got seated rather quickly at Mon Ami.. we were inside, but had the direct window seat by the deck. So great view with air conditioning. Perfect. Cheryl and I ordered a couple of glasses of great wine, G had a bloody mary. G and I each ordered french onion soup and then split the scallop and shrimp crepes. Cheryl ordered a chopped salad. The onion soup we were really looking forward to, but to be honest it was waaaaaaaaay to much cheese (and I love cheese) and not enough onions... the broth was fantastic though! The crepes came out and we both loved it. Cheryl didn't really enjoy her chopped salad, I guess there was some stuff in there she didn't like too much. We decided to order some creme brulee for dessert. Took a bite and all we tasted was a burned taste (even though it looked great! Weird). So she took it off the bill and we were good to go. G and I went to play some blackjack and made some money and had a great time, while Cheryl headed up to the bar at the Eiffel Tower restaurant and flirted with the bartender for an hour. ;)

Headed to Mandalay Bay, wanted to check it out and eventually get to Red Square for Cavi Hour (buy 2 martinis, get an once of caviar free). Played some video poker on the way, did pretty good (won a couple hundred). Got to red square, found out we had to use a certain kind of vodka to get the cavi because it was a promotional thing. Fine with me, but G and Cheryl didn't want to. So I had two washington apple martinis (with vodka instead of crown) which were fantastic. The ice bar was GREAT, we were having a great time putting our handprints and smiley faces in the ice, although our hands stung afterwards lol. :) The caviar came out, and i'm glad they didn't get any because it was a very generous plate and plenty for 3 people. We were served the ounce of caviar in the jar, along with minature pancakes (uh bellinis? i think they were called) and toast triangles, Crème fraîche, finely chopped egg yokes, egg whites, minced red onion and some herb, can't remember what though. It was fantastic!!!!!! I was very impressed, and we also got a show when the bartender made 8 martinis at once, using 8 different shakers stacked, and the glasses were in a pyramid. Very fun!!

Were pretty tipsy when we left Red Square, played a bit of vp, cheryl met a guy at the shoe shine (lol) and talked to him for awhile. G and I headed down towards the shops to go to Luxor to buy our son and daughter some stuff at the gift shop. On the way we found a fat tuesday so I got a drink and decided to get G and I a 'spongebob' shot which consisted of two pieces of pineapple soaked in 151. I didn't think it would be that bad but we sucked on the pineapple and OH MY GOD. we both had to spit it out and do a 'omg that was so gross' dance lol. Keep walking, Cheryl met up and said she and the guy who was getting his shoes shined made a date for later so he can teach her craps. We headed back to MGM to get ready for dinner, had an 8pm reservation at Emerils.

Got dressed up and got to Emerils, Cheryl and I ordered a bottle of wine and G had a white russian. Ended up ordered 7 appetizers for dinner between the 3 of us so we could try a bit of everything, and we couldn't even finish it was a ton of food. . Had calamari (gross, we didn't like it at all, and I love calamari. they took it off the bill at the end because we were not impressed), scallops on the half shell, bbq shimp, crab cakes, a trio of shrimp, scallop and blue crab with something i don't remember what, raw tuna with foie gras and black truffles which was AMAZING, and lobster mashed potatoes. Everything was absolutely fantastic, not including the calamari.

After dinner headed up to change, and Cheryl stayed behind in hopes the shoe shine guy would call. We took a cab downtown to meet our other friends who were heading down after a dinner at Ellis Island. Met up and taught my friend how to play blackjack. Didn't do to well, had 4 red (5 dollar) chips left so threw them on roulette. Played number 17, black, odd and one column. Won my money back, threw it all down again, and still on number 17. My number hit, how great! Got 200 bucks off that 5 dollar bet and left happy, back to our hotel to go to bed. Btw, yes, Cheryl met up with shoe shine guy and lost a grand of his money on the craps table. but hey at least she knows how to play now lol.

Woke up pretty refreshed, the 3 of us headed down to a great breakfast. From breakfast we took a cab down the strip by the sahara, to the tattoo shop. Went to one, didn't like the vibe at ALL, so walked across the street to a circle k for a hot dog and while we ate it (we were so hungry by then) we played video poker and won 60 bucks lol. At a circle k. Really not many people can say that.. ! Walked to another shop called Diversity and they were fantastic. G and I both got our first tattoos of dice hitting 7 on our feet (I got 4 and 3, he got 5 and 2. 7 is a special number to us, we got married 7-17-97 in Vegas and my bday is 7-14 and my daughter's bday is on the 7th), VERY painful for sure... but totally great, and the tattoo guy was absolutely hilarious (btw, vegas tattoos are really expensive. 150 per tattoo, as opposed to 60 bucks for the same thing here at home. but it was the experience). Cheryl also got a tattoo while we were there of dice with a lucky symbol and a clover. afterwards walked to Sahara where our other friends were staying (they showed up to watch the tattoos). Parted ways with them and sat at the bar where G had a couple johnny walker blacks straight up.. took care of the pain lol. He put a dollar in a nickel slot and hit 100 bucks. Woo! Headed towards Planet Hollywood because we had tickets to see the Ultimate Variety show. Got there and upgraded to VIP for pretty cheap which included a free drink. Ate at a mexican place right by the show beforehand. The show was fantastic, very enjoyable!! Got dropped off by cab right by m&m world where we got several things for the kids, then headed back to MGM to pick up our luggage and head to the airport for a midnight flight back home. The airport sucked and the flight was boarded then we all sat there for a half hour while they fetched new 'paperwork' that was necessary before we took off. Then we cruised around for another half hour before we finally took off. Slept uncomfortably and ended up getting home at 4am. But a very fun time for sure, I never hit it big, but i never expected too.. ;) And we did come home with money so that's always good! Can't wait until next trip!

    Enjoyed your report.
I love a lazy river, wish Harrah's had one.
    Interesting ...a tatoo?
While I'm in Vegas, I believe there will be a tatoo convention at the Riviera.

Fun TR -- sounds like you had a great trip with great friends! I think I've been to that tatoo parlor -- hubby got one new one and also had one "fixed" there. I actually got one, too! I think that was about five years ago for the ones we got together and just last year for his new one. I agree -- there's one shop down there that gives me the creeps and one that I felt 100% comfortable in. Unfortunately, that's my last one since I found out the hard way I'm allergic to the ink (or probably the coloring in one of the colors). Mine's on my hip, and I think it wouldn't have been quite as painful as the ones you just got on your feet. Ouch!

Glad you had so much fun. My mouth was watering at the food descriptions!

Great report. How much was the vodka & cavier at Red Square? I think when we go to Emeril's again we'll do the appetizer thing.

Well I think the drinks were 15 each. 2 minimum to get the caviar, and you had to use a certain kind of vodka. But for 30 bucks you get two drinks and a really nice snack, not bad at all! :licklips:

Eventhough I thought Emeril's was a bit pricy, I did love that BBQ shrimp I had there last month! Thanks for the report!
