    My Trip Report

Just me, folying solo as usual. This is an abreviated version of a very long TR. Tried to cut it down to the important stuff.

Lots of pics can be seen here:

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/brokenalice/sets/72157604031971053/

*Night One - I stayed at the Las Vegas Club Downtown. The room was average and pretty low rent. My view was of the giant flashing sign outside my window. That evening I had dinner at Fremont Casino for a seafood buffet. Not that great but I was starvin Marvin. Watched several light shows on the canopy but none of the video I took came out.

*Day Two - I had breakfast at Main Street Station and then made my way down to the south end of the Strip to stay at Tropicana. My room had porno mirrors everywhere. Tacky fake bamboo on all the furniture. It was gawdy and I loved it. The bathtub was awesome and deep for soaking after a long day. The view was crap.

*Afternoon Two - I went to church which is located conveniently behind my hotel. I got some pics from outside but could not take pics inside. I went to mass and immediately afterward they were doing a novena so I didn't want to be disruptive with a flashing camera. After church I went to the outlet mall that's a couple miles south of the main drag. Nothing great there.

*Night Two - I went to Wynn and saw Spamalot. It was hilarious. Great songs and great Monty Python humor. I bought my man some Holy Grail Ale at the show as a souvineer to bring home. Before the show I got a "free" buffet from Wynn for putting 25 points in my players card. This was easy to do because I got $25 in free slot play for buying the theater ticket. The buffet was really fancy schmancy with really pretty foods. It was yummy and mostly free.

*Day Three - Checked out of Trop and moved to Imperial Palace. I had booked a "Luv Tub" room. I'm the brave sort and I really enjoyed a good bubble bath at the end of my evening. The rest of the room was nice. Notice the porno mirrors above the bed AND the bathtub at this joint. I don't understand it.

*Afternoon Three - I walked through the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace and had lunch at The Palm Steakhouse. The $19.95 "business special" was HUGE. Massive salad with blue cheese crumbles the size of rocks. Filet Mignon and home-made kettle chips. That plate the steak was on was like 15 inches in diameter. The steak itself was probably 10oz but looked small with the gigantic plate. Very good lunch and one of my cheapest meals of the trip. It was cool being at a white-table-cloth joint and being waited on hand and foot. Very good service.

Also that same afternoon I went to Bellagio to check out the Conservatory in the lobby area celebrating Chinese New Year and had a cute Year of the Rat display.

Night Three - I had dinner at Tamba Indian Cusine at the Hawaiian Marketplace. This was ok Indian food and not the best I've ever had but I was glad to have tried it. I also got a half-price ticket to see Legends in Concert at IP. All of the celebrity impersonators sang with their own voice and did about five songs each. There was Elvis, Madonna, Dolly Parton, Barry White, The Temptations and it was hosted by Jay Leno. This was a great show with showgirl and showboy backup dancers and a live band. They really go all out with their performances and was not cheesy at all. I was very impressed and would go again because they change their performers monthly.

Day/Afternoon Four - I took a shuttle to Rio and had lunch at their buffet. It was less fancy than Wynn but half the price and twice the selection. The service line itself was nearly a football field. Crazy selection with anything and everything you could ever dream of! I was in fat girl heaven but could only eat one small plateful and a scoop of their home-made gelato to dessert.

After Rio I spent the rest of the day playing slots and Rapid Roulette at Flamingo. I wanted to play most my gambling money here because I'd like to stay there at some point and hope to get offers from them. My money lasted a long time and I had a couple small wins. $100 at one game and $167 at another game.

*Night Four - I scored an upgrade to First Class on te way home. I paid $50 for it but feel it was well worth it. I had never been in First Class before so it was a total treat. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:

*I was a bit more loney this time then I have been on previous solo trips.
*I brought $1200 with me for gambling, food, entertainment, transportation and came home with almost $850 left. So my gambling dollars went far and I am pleased.
*I want to see more shows next time I go because that was great fun

Nice concise TR. Solo travel does get old if you're not a) gregarious by nature or b) meeting up with people you know at least for a while.

I would rather have been at the Palm for lunch today. That sounded really good.

alice - thanks for the TR. Gave me a great idea about where to have a fine inexpensive lunch next trip. The Palm Steakhouse.

Thanks for posting, but hey, I LIKE long trip reports, I could have taken the long version.

The Palms sounds like a really nice place, it's hard to find quality and value mid-strip.

Thanks for the TR! I've always wondered what it would be like to be in Vegas solo...my only time that way was once for some training for my business but I hung out with other people in the class...so I don't think that counts. I would like to think it'd be fun, but not as much fun that to hang out with the wife.

But anytime in Vegas is better than time at home. Would be sad to see those porno mirrors go to waste, though...

Wow! Just looked at those pics and that bamboo is very impressive. My wife would love that room. I appreciate the room pics...helps if I'm deciding. The food looks delicious.
