no. las vegas is all about the meat. in fact, that is part of the central entertainment, watching vegetarians scurrying from steakhouse to burger joint, just wasting away while we watch. some of them break down as they go, and to see them tear into a plate of wings would be worth the price of admission if you could sell tickets.
just kidding...everyplace has some vegetarian options, the buffets work well, and some of the indian and oriental places will have many choices for you. add to that the fish choices and you can eat just about anywhere in las vegas.

let us know where you are staying, the group here will be able to point you to specific places that will satisfy your diet.
    welcome!

The Concierge at the Bellagio told us that almost any of the mid to upscale restaurants will prepare something for you even if there isn't anything on the menu - she said to just ask the server. Didn't find that out till the end of our trip so didn't have a chance to verify her info.

    Highfive,

I highly recommend Alladin's Spice Market Buffet with it's Middle Eastern flair.

    Noodle Asia

    ....

When I ate at Noodle Asia at the Venetian--open until 3 AM (!!!)--I noticed lots of vegetarian options. One was the "Buddha Feast," which I've seen before at Chinese restaurants.

    Sushi for vegetarians?

I'm hoping to drag my husband-to-be to a sushi restaurant for his first sushi experience. Anyone know of a nice restaurant that also caters for none meat/fish eaters (i'm a vegetarian but i could happily live on avacado rolls for a while).

From what i've read it sounds like Vegas has plenty of good sushi to offer the world but would love to hear from a vegetarian point of view.

Also H2B is scared of the raw fish reputation so what meaty/fishy items can I start him on until he gets used to it?

California rolls have cooked meat (crab), as do the freshwater eel rolls (unagi), and there's a folded-egg type "sushi" (tamago). Most places have some sort of veggie rolls - throw in miso soup, edamame (soybeans), gomaae (spinach w/sesame, my fav), etc, and there should be enough to keep a non-meat eater occupied.

Poke around the following site for examples. It's in Minneapolis but it has a great online menu. May not be completely representative of where you go, but it's a start: http://www.origamirestaurant.com/

Just to note: I recommend vegetarians DO NOT eat at the Top of the World restaurant at the Stratosphere . There were no veggie options on the menu (though there may have been fish, as a none fish-eater I don't recall) and the option the chef 'whipped up' was a plate of different grilled vegetable in a nice seasoning. Not too bad but extremely overpriced and if you don't like the veg type then you're screwed!

Vegas has lots of good seafood restaurants. Bartolotta (Wynn), Emeril's and SeaBlue (MGM), Michael Mina (Bellagio), Aquaknox (Venetian) are some of the ones off the top of my head. I haven't been to any of them, as I typically feel I don't quite get the bang for my buck as Seafood restaurants, though they are well-reviewed in general and there should be plenty of others as well.

I've found this to be very true. My wife is a vegetarian. The only thing that is almost impossible to order 'off-the-menu' in a vegetarian style is soups. Most use a beef or chicken stock vs. vegetable stock and isn't something that is made to order. Otherwise, we've never had an issue with restaurants in Vegas (and elsewhere) substituting or having a 'special' vegetarian dish available. The reason the chain places or lower end places can't do it is because their dishes come pre-made, frozen and merely warmed up in the hot box.

I'm not sure why this post made me think of it, but I thought it would be worth sharing. My wife had been begging me to make sushi at home (I do all of the cooking). I decided to marinate some vegetables in a home made teriyaki sauce. The recipe called for worshishire sauce, which contains anchovies!!! Thankfully, they had an alternative recipe to make vegetarian worshishire sauce. I guess I'm mentioning this simply because I didn't know and I thought other vegetarians might like to know.

For what it's worth, one of the best vegetarian cookbooks I've bought to date is Bittman's How to Cook Everything Vegetarian.

Well, technically the OP is a

    pescetarian

but it might not be pragmatic to post asking if anyone knew any good pescetarian restaurants in Vegas.

Michael Mina at Bellagio has one of the best vegetarian tasting menus I have ever had in my life! They change the menu every season. I like the winter menu the best. http://www.michaelmina.net/restaurant.php?restaurant_id=15&action=menus

I am trying Joël Robuchon at MGM when I visit Vegas in a few weeks. They have a 16 course vegetarian tasting menu that they do not advertise.

Benihana at LV Hilton has fun vegetarian options.

I have actually never had a problem being a vegetarian in Las Vegas. If there isn't anything you want on a menu, you can ask the chef to make you something creative if you are willing to try something new.

The Silverton buffet has great veges. One thing they do is grill a mixture of different squashs - its delicious. They also have a nice salad area. We like to go there on Sunday morning and always surprised that it is not very crowded
