    My Trip Report

I am going to do this in sections and hope I can remember everything!!! We were there for 7 nights and I didn’t make any notes!! We usually go with a good size group of people this time it was my husband, my father in law and myself. My FIL was only there for 3 full days, so this gave DH and I a good amount of time to ourselves. This is unusual and ended up being wonderful!!

Flights: Delta out of Sarasota. I did same day confirmation because I was worried we didn’t have enough time to change planes in Atlanta (we originally had 30 minutes which in my opinion is nowhere long enough in Atlanta!!). We left Sarasota at 3:30 and arrived Vegas at 8pm.
Coming home I was on my own as my husband headed to CA. Left Vegas at 12:30 and arrived in Sarasota at 11pm. It was a long day and by the time I got home it was almost 1am. Flights were smooth though and no problems either way.

Hotels: The first few nights June 10th thru the 13th we were at Main Street Station. This was our first try at staying downtown and though we liked it, I am not sure we will do it again. I think we have been spoiled by the strip resorts. The room was clean, the beds were comfy but we missed having a pool.
Tuesday the 13th thru Saturday the 17th we were at Bellagio, we stayed in the Spa Tower with a partial Lake View, non smoking King on the 22nd floor. Room 22-642, great standard room. We absolutely love the rooms at Bellagio! They are so nicely done. I didn’t take pictures this time as the room was not any different from our last one. I like the spa tower because the elevators take you right down to the pool and the small pool on that end is never busy, however it is COLD!!!!!!! The middle pool is much better for swimming; it was warm compared to the ice water at the pool we sat at. I think our next stay at Bellagio, I would like to stay in the main tower again, even though we love the spa tower rooms, the walk from the casino can be a long one and I spend an hour or so down there at the end of the night and walk back to the room by myself.

June 10: We checked into Main Street Station changed and headed out we stopped at PF Chang’s for dinner on Paradise, despite it being a Saturday night we easily found 2 seats at the bar and ate. I was too tired to eat much and the evening seemed wasted, by the time we left there we had been up 18 hours and I wanted some sleep. We went back to MSS, I played a tiny bit of VP and went to bed.
June 11: As always we were up early on the first day, I think it was about 5am, we showered and decided to head to Red Rock to check it out and have the buffet brunch. It was about 7am when we got there and we did some walking around. We checked out the different restaurants and they all look beautiful. We checked out the pool which is small but very nice. We decided to play some blackjack and sat down at the $5 table and played for a little while, I figured it had to be 5 O’clock somewhere so I ordered a vodka and cranberry, drink service was very quick. After playing for a bit we went to the buffet, it was good but not great, however it was a champagne brunch and was only $18 a person.
After brunch we hit the sportsbook bar for some VP and the Red Sox. The bartender didn’t want to put it on, he was a Yankees fan and said the last thing he wanted at the end of his shift is to be subjected to the Sox LOL He did put it on and we had a few more Absolute and Cranberries. I managed to put the points on my card to bring me to Gold and we left this was at about noon, so we spent 5 hours at RR and really enjoyed it.. Only thing that bothered me about this trip out to Red Rock is finding out I had an offer that I didn’t get because I never changed my address!!! We would have loved to have spent a night or two out there. Not only does the casino offer a lot, but there are a ton of restaurants right on the main road in front of the casino. RR looks like it should be a spa resort somewhere in AZ, it is a gorgeous property. The light fixture, the landscaping in front, everything is first class. The Lobby is beautiful; we were really impressed with the whole place and have reservations for August.
We headed back to MSS and played a little blackjack there, of course I had no luck. We then went to the Hard Rock and again had no luck at this point we decided to check out Silverton, we really like it there and knew we would eventually have to pick up my father in law at the airport so we figured Silverton would work well. We did okay, I think we probably broke even, though I lost a few playing VP which was fine. We realized it was 4 and we were hungry so we decided to give the Silverton Coffee shop a try. The food was good, we had sandwiches and soap, along with soda. The bill was $17 for the two of us. By this time it was 5 so we played a few more minutes and headed to the airport to pick up my father in law who was arriving at 6. Of course his flight was late and we waited an hour at the airport for him.
My father in law was staying at Flamingo, so we headed over there, he got room 6072 which was remodeled and over looked Caesar’s main entrance. We got him settled and he was hungry so we grabbed him a sandwich at the snack bar in front of the casino. We were going to head out when we noticed some $5 tables in the front of the casino. We decided to play a bit. The table was okay except for this guy at first base who was ticked off at the kid sitting to my right. Josh was a 22 year old kid in Vegas for the first time and learning how to play blackjack. The dealer was helping him and in my opinion he was doing just fine. He wasn’t perfect, but then none of us are. Any how this guy was losing almost every hand and blaming poor Josh. Of course this same guy would stand on all 16s against a 9 or 10 and then be just as mad when someone hit a 14 taking the dealers bust card!! It was quite pathetic; he would actually slam his dollar coins together and swear under his breath. My thought is, if you can’t afford to lose it, don’t play it. We would run into Josh 3 times this trip and he told us this guy was making him nervous!! Now here is something that Harrah’s/Flamingo now does that bothers me, here we were a full table having a blast (after the evil man at 1st base left) when they changed the min on the table. The pit boss said we could play out this show at the $5 but then would have to go $10. I had never experienced that before and we didn’t like it. After the shoe was done we all got up and left. It didn’t appear that the pit boss liked doing as she rolled where eyes when she told us it was a Harrah’s thing.
About 9 or so we headed back downtown and played a bit more at MSS finishing off the night at about 11. It was a long fun filled day and we were tired!!!

    More to come later…………..

Ann....glad you guys had a great time!:) Your B room sounds just like the one we had there last year...kind of a corner window that if you looked out and to the left, you could see the fountains pretty well.

Going back in AUG??? You dogs!!!...Good for you :)

Can't wait to hear the rest....did you get to check out all the changes at the Mirage?
