    My Trip Report

I am not going to post a long message on here about my trip just the basics.

first things first, the first couple of days were warm but bearable, the last 3 days were the best i have ever spent in vegas. 90 degrees but with a nice steady breeze. i couldnt have asked for nicer weather.

the gaming downtown was great. i am not a big slots player but i played a few. i used to think fitzgeralds and cortez had the loosest machines, fitz was a huge letdown, but the cortez was great.

I won some money playing b/j at the fremont,LVC and golden gate, but had my ass handed to me at fitzgeralds.

The brewpup in the 4 queens kept me occupied when i needed a break from the tables. if you dont know what to order when you go in let me suggest a cold 22 ounce "all nighter" hands down the best micro brew i have ever had.

as usual MSS breakfast buffet didnt disapoint. if you havent tried it, it is hands down the best breakfast in downtown and a bargain at 6.99 a person i believe. atta boy to quadzilla for the suggestion.

dinner at the MGM was great especially for crab lovers. it is still doesnt compare to the alladin, but i wanted to try something new and i did.

i actually took the deuce to the strip 2 days. anyone needing info on it please let me know. had a great time "scouting" for my fall trip, and i think barbary coast is now a lock for me.

as for my room. i have never stayed at the LVC but i gamble there a lot so i decided to give the north tower room a shot. regardless of the negative post, i thought the room was spectacular for the price. it was big, with a large window overlooking the mountains and the cali club. looking down i had a nice veiw of the pool (only draw back to the slightly cooler temps no women in the pool) and the bed was comfortable. the staff was very friendly and maybe its just me but the clientel seemed friendly too. only thing i hated was the drinks. weak weak weak.

overall my trip was great but just way too short. my fall trip will be 7-10 days and i plan on splitting it up with the strip for 4 or 5 days and downtown for the rest.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to leave them here, message me, or email me and i will certainly help you out however i can.

Mogeyboy03: Thanks for your report. Gee, we were there at the same time!

I also find the north tower rooms at the VC a great value, and being on the north-facing side of the north tower certainly eliminates any noise from the FSE. Between the Plaza and VC, I had four of my five nights comped, but sweet-talked the desk clerk into letting me check out the south tower. (I've stayed in the north tower a few times, but always wanted to compare it with the other. The south tower room was MUCH better than what I had been led to believe, and I found the differences between towers not worth more than the extra $10 they usually charge.) I still stayed in the north, however.

    Thanks again for your post.

Glad you had a good time downtown (at the El Co even!), and that the VC worked for you. I've yet to have a bad stay anywhere downtown, and that includes the "vintage" rooms of the Gate, but you never know what someone else's comfort level is.

Great choice. Great rooms for the price and the best toast in town!

Turtle, wish i had known, we could have went and thrown a few back at the brew pub. its kind of funny, i used to get all pumped up getting ready for the next trip to vegas because of the food and blackjack, now all i can think about is getting back to the brewpub.

It's kind of a late night drunken tradition when we're in Vegas. Whenever we stay on the strip, we gotta have that Barbary Toast.

Mogeyboy03: Yeah, the blackjack tables make a great break from the brewpub! Sorry I missed you, as I'm always up for meeting fellow members, particularly at the brewpub. In fact, I was doing just that last month, but the meeting was arranged through a different board. Oh well, maybe next time.

Actually, next time for me is next week (including the Vegas Club), and I currently have seven nights reserved for late July and am in the process of reserving for August! (Sick, huh?) Now, if I can just nail down some decent air. (It's always hard to commit to going back before the results from the previous trip are known.) Be sure to let me know the next time you'll be there.

Next time you are downtown, try some of the brews at MSS. WE went for a few on our last trip, and they were very good. They have about 5 different choices, and the bartender gave us a couple of samples to try. They also have a daily special that is around $2 a glass I think.

Just in case someone doesn't already know this – you can order any of the microbrews while playing in the casino. I often play BJ before the brewpub, but by the time I get there, I'm usually saturated! :)

Are the Deuce stops clearly marked on the strip and downtown? I'm leaving today and plan on taking the Deuce back and forth from downtown but am unsure as to where to pick it up.

yea the deuce stops are clearly marked up and down the blvrd. be sure to grab one of the handouts that list all the stops, and the busses running come in a steady stream so if ya miss one, dont wig out, one will be right behind it shortly.

    Nice job, Mogey.
We'll have to make a trip out to Vegas just to hang in the sportsbook during NFL season one day.

The clock on Fantasy football is ticking, draft day Sunday Sept, 3rd......
