    My Trip Report

    Trip Report- MM3

Well it was one year in the making. I planned on being at MM3 after watching the clowns from T2V online last year parading across Main & Fremont. It just looked like fun.

Mike, Derek, and I left Midway at 2:40pm on a flight that took almost 5 hours due to 120 mph headwinds.:cuss: Are we there yet? Derek drank up a couple SWA coupon books while Mike and I abstained. Got our rental (van) and checked into the Plaza. They had recently moved check in to the 3rd floor. Found our rooms after grabbing a beer and gussied up for the meet down at the Keno Bar. No one was there right away so we wandered around checking on the lines for tomorrow’s games. Called Buck. He and Futty were still in MSP hoping to beat the snow. Went back to the bar and saw Mikey, Cyndi, DonD and Jenn, Angy, CK, Drea, Chef, Keno and Emily, Patti, and Sin. This was the first time meeting everyone except DonD and CK, so it was great to finally meet all the people whose stories and pictures I had been viewing for the last couple years. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. DonD used a bunch of comps to buy us many rounds of drinks down at the Bar. Some of the girls started playing a game where they take pics of peoples faces and then of their chest and try to match. When they got around to snapping pics of the guys, they aimed for our crotches. DonD was a man among boys when that happened, if you know what I mean.:nworthy: Too funny.

Derek and I went up to Cyndi and Mikey’s suite to party with the gang and that was fun. Jer soon joined us, and everyone took turns talking and drinking and getting to know each other. We headed to LVC to gamble but not much was open. Patti tried to use her influence and womanly charms to get them to open another BJ table, but no dealers could be found. She and I decided to play at a $25 BJ table using my bankroll and we did alright. We moved over to paigow with Mikey after that, and then things get real hazy. I remember going back to Plaza and hooking up with Buck and Futty when they got in. I lost track of Derek and later found out he was passed out in Cyndi and Mikey’s place on that comfy roll away. :snore:

The next day I had headed down to breakfast and saw CK playing Paigow. She invited me to breakfast and we went to Binions and it was great. Thanks Becky. Saw Mikey picking up the sled at valet as we headed out to golf. He told us about Derek and we laughed some more. Golf was ok. Inconsistent is the name of my game, but we had a blast. Derek, who booked his trip at the last minute hung back, watched games, and drank like a fish. When we returned we ate at MSS buffet with Filet Mignon. That was awesome for $14 a piece. Derek did not want to ruin his buzz so he kept drinking. When we got back Buck, Derek, and Futty stayed at the bar and Mike went to play some machines. I crashed from 9-12 and Buck called me and said some of your internet buddies are down here. I came down and everyone from the board was gone. Buck said Cyndi saw Derek and she came over and introduced herself and Terry to my friends. One of the funniest lines I heard retold was of Chang the Bartender that night at the Plaza. Derek had been feeding him a buck for every beer during his shift. Buck said Chang was calling Derek a “professional”. In his best Chinese broken English he said, “Most people drink four or five beers. Not him. He professional. He dlink over forty beers”. :beer:Nice, like that didn’t go right to his head. I played BJ for the next 3 ½ hours and picked up a nice $400 win. During that time I saw Doc Al talking to Larry at the 3 card poker table. I tried to send over a drink to Larry, but the cocktail waitress was a real ditz, and would not do it. I shut it down around 4am.

We had a short meet up a DonD’s suite for the pick 6 the next morning. Met Al and Larry in person this time in addition to Don’s friends. I had to leave early because we are golfing again today, only this time Derek played as Buck had a trade show to attend at Wynn. Again, inconsistency was my name, although the course, Angel Park-Palm was really great. Thanks for the tip Terry. Before we were done, Angy calls and asks if were coming to IP? I tell her I will call when we are done. Mikey calls right as we are leaving the course and tells us to come on over. We get there an hour or so later after looking for that room like mice in a maze. WTF. Who designed the 19th floor of the IP, Allgernon? While it was a maze, the cheese was the party at Angy’s and it was rocking when we got there. Introductions were made and I got to meet Terry, Bill, Chicago Cyn, George, and Prince Paul and reintroduced to Sticky and Tonya whom I met last October at Carnaval Court. Whoever brought the Captain Silver, nice call, cause I put a nice dent in it. Shortly after we arrived a bunch left for the limo ride that CK arranged. I wanted to go CK, but we had just arrived about ½ hour earlier. Then everyone else left to take Sticky home. Buck had decided to head back DT so here we are in Angy’s place, just me, Mike, Derek and Futty. We drink for a while and then the limo riders return. Did the maze thing again while looking for ICE with Tonya, and I am still not sure how we found the suite again. I spied the ROBE in the bathroom and decided to try it on, while it did not fit right, there was something about it that I liked. My friends took off for DT and I hung out with the T2V gang. We were on the casino floor at IP while Angy got keys made for her friends, and then in line for cabs with some drunk chick in front of us barfing all over.:vomit: Al gave her some pointers on technique, and we cabbed to the Plaza. Who was in the cab with me? Terry? I don’t remember. We met up with Guilt. We all went to MSS brew pub for some late night eats which totally sucked. Cold eggs and gristled steak. Yuck. But as Mikey said in his TR the company was quite good. The boys were at there favorite waterhole at the Plaza, except Derek who somehow found us at MSS. I must have gone to bed shortly there after because I don’t remember much after that. Oh and I was still wearing the ROBE. Got some pretty strange looks, but I didn't care at that point. There was one woman dice dealer at MSS started laughing when she saw me coming. When we left after eating I shook my robe tail at her just to make her crack up again and it worked.

You must have taken notes! No clue how you remember all of that! One of the memories of MM3 for me that always makes me chuckle is remembering how you went down from Angy's room in her bathrobe to play cards. I would have loved to have accompanied the gang but I was dead and/or dying. I can only imagine the looks you got - they had to be incredible (and incredulous!)

The robe was awesome. Not like a red-haired six-and-half foot tall guy needs to stand out more, but the look of nonchalance was icing on the cake. Just another evening downtown... wearing my robe. You've got to get in on the midwest mini-meet if that goes down again. Great to finally meet you.

I woke up at 6:30am to make sure Derek was up and ready to hit the airport for his 9:50am flight. I and the rest of the guys did brunch at MSS buffet. Excellent. Got ready for the poker tourney. I was a bit nervous as I was seated next to Coaster Hub-John who plays this game with the big boys. Thanks to Jen, because without her I would have been wearing that stinking T-shirt Larry brought. I was glad Marlisha took me out because she earned a $25 bonus for the first woman to take out a man. That a girl. I played some at the 2-4 table for a while but could catch no hands. I tracked down 2 of my friends who were playing hit and run on machines up and own Fremont. I got back to the tourney just after Bill was crowned supreme ruler of T2V MM3. I watched basketball for a while and grabbed a bite to eat. Angy called me after dinner and we met up with her and the others at Fremont? Table games were crowded, so Angy and I played Superfun 21 which is really not superfun for an hour or so while Mikey, Big Stogie(george), Marlisha, Sticky and Al wandered arount. Angy wanted to go to the strip, so she and Al took off. I made my way back to the Plaza and played BJ with George and Marlisha for a few hours. Made a nice $600 prifit and went to bed.
Sunday was more of the same. BB Bets, breakfast at MSS, and golf. I promised myself not to drink my last full day to help ease myself back into the real world without a hangover like last trip. After golf we ate at Center Stage on a comp. I have read others pan it, but maybe it was just a bad night for the cook, because it was excellent this night. The boys all had the large cut prime rib while I opted for the porterhouse. Perfect meal. I hooked up with Angy(who was drunk. Shocking!) and Patti. We talked for awhile and said our goodbyes as we had early flights. Earlier that day DonD introduced me to Paul Utell, his connection at the Plaza. We had 3 nites of 10 comped up front, and after reviewing our play comped the rest and invited us back for next year. Score!

I had $1400 when I arrived in Vegas. Sunday night I had $950. Considering golf was $250, not too bad. I got up early Monday and bought in for $500 at BJ and it was gone in 15 minutes. Damn. We got to the airport early expecting a zoo, but we were through security in 10 minutes. Said goodbye to Buck and Futty as they had a different terminal. Got on board and flew home.

    Final Thoughts

-Total cost for 5 days of fun -$950
-Meeting all the T2Vers at MM3- PRICELESS

Special thanks to the party hostesses.
Special thanks to Terry for the shot glasses.
Special thanks to Larry for the chips.
Special thanks to Doug for the Poker Tourney.
Special thanks to DonD for hooking everyone up at the Plaza.

    You guys rock!

Tonya, where is the ICE bucket?:)

Edited to add: I forgot to mention I got to meet former South-sider and still White Sox fan Kellee during the poker Tourney. Always nice to meet another Sox fan. Red heads of the world UNITE!

It was great meeting u. I felt like a High Roller sitting at that $25.00 table with u. I just wish I was able to hand u back a huge win with the chips u so graciously allowed me to pretend were mine & play for u. I even got rated for being there for a short bit.
The pit crew at the LVC was still asking me when I left for the "real" story about the man that man in the bath robe that was playing cards with me. I told them it was one of those Vegas stories. ;)
Sorry u had to wait so long for us to get over to the Plaza to say goodbye but once we arrived I'm sure u understood...........lol

Lots of fun Marty, Marlisha asks 'No hard feelings ?' not bad for her first live poker game, she just got the right cards at the right times.

How about that BJ dealer at the Plaze that night, she was just giving it away! I was pretty well 'lubricated' by that point and don't actually remember a whole lot beyond sitting down with you over at first base.

Take care, hope to see you again sometime.

Yea Marlisha was kicking ass at the beginning of the tourney. Definately no hard feelings there.

    Marty,
As a Sox fan, you might appreciate what was on a March 12 SWA flight to Vegas.
There were two guys in the seat in front of me with something that looked like birdcage covered with a cloth. For whatever reason, they seemed to be getting a lot of attention from people.
Midway through the flight, the person sitting next to me figured out what all the hoopla was about. It was the White Sox Wrold Championship trophy.
The two guys, Mike Lindahl and Marty Mucker, were escorting to Tucson for spring training. In fact, that was there job until the end of the year -To travel around the country, mainly around the midwest and show it off.
Once we got to McCarran, there was a security guard to walk them to their connecting flight.

Marty all I can say is that anyone who walks around Vegas in an ill-fitting terry bath robe is my kinda guy! I had a great time hanging out with you and your friends (the ones I met anyway) and I look forward to actually sitting at a table with ya someday!

I wish I would've been there to witness all the adventures of you in that robe. Classic, just classic. It was great to meet you, Marty, I hope to chat with you more next time. Us redheaded Sox fans have to stick together. I hope we sweep Cleveland and get this season started off right. I can hear it already ...."you can put it on the board, YESSSS!".... ah, music to my ears.

First of all, sorry for the threadjack Marty but this is business. Kellee, is the wager that the White Sox will sweep the Tribe in the season opener series? If so, I'll have that one wrapped up by Monday morning 4/3 :evillaugh . Whatever you want to wager is fine by me. It could be as simple as the loser changes thier avatar for a week, or something like Guilt & I did with a six pack of local microbrew. I'm open for suggestions.

I see the Tribe plays the Twinkies in Clevelands opening series starting 4/7 - care to jump in on the action Doc?

More threadjack: Was at Dogfish Head brewery at Rehobeth Beach, DE yesterday and they had an article on "extreme" breweries posted. They are one, and also mentioned was Great Lakes Brewing. With what I know of Saranac and Great Lakes, I'd say Guilt made out ok. If I ever make a bet like that and lose, winner gets a six pack of something from Dogfish. It takes balls to brew like they're doing.

Back to the original threadjack: I'm not sure I'm putting anything on the Red Sox this year - not with a centerfielder named Coco Crisp. How long until the Bleacher Creatures decide to pour milk on him just to see what happens?

Jacking threadjack back to original post: Marty, had a great time with you, although I probably didn't need that drink that never came. But thanks anyway. Funny how you were sitting two tables away from me that night and I didn't even know it. Next time we'll sit together and take 'em for all they've got.

Now back to your original threadjack....
