Wife and I are staying at Wynn in November as part of our 1 yr anniversary. We stayed at Caesars last yr for the honeymoon and it was excellent.

This is my 7th trip to LV overall and first time at Wynn….any tips/help would be greatly appreciated.

~I have read some recent reports about construction at the site and plan on contacting the hotel soon to check into this. I am not sure

how far I can get in regards to an upgrade or comp if it is something that I am unhappy with. I can handle minor annoyances but would like a decent view

    if possible.

~Loved eating at SW…how are the other places?

~Shows….Le Reve and Showstoppers both seem to receive high marks.

Thanks ahead of time for the comments…much appreciated.

Wow. Wife and I are going to the Wynn next November for our 10 year, and also honeymooned at Caesars. Cool deal man. Were 11-3-07, how about you? Your best bet is to book through Wynn and express your concerns about the construction and have it dealt with then, have them book you a room accordingly. The 20/50/100 trick doesn't work there, so make sure you're not planning on a spontaneous upgrade vis a vis a "bribe" to quote Mr. Steve Wynn himself.

Never had a bad meal there, Sinatras was really good, kinda pricey, but a good restaurant its at Encore I think. I loved Allegro's Italian restaurant. The Drugstore Restaurant was my go to breakfast and coffee joint almost every day. The Cave is small plate stuff good, lotta wine snobs in there. Wazuzu was Japanese (I think) great food Asian fusion type stuff. They had a deli that I think may be gone called Zoo Crakers or something, NY style, my wife said the Pastrami sandwich was better than Katz's. I'm not a deli guy, and hate pastrami couldn't tell you anything else. Loved the Buffet, think it's just as good as The Bellagio.

We loved La Reve, it's a water show, and fantastic, not a Cirque show, but far better that a few Cirque shows I've seen in Vegas.

Thanks....11/20 here. We are already booked so I will probably check with them this weekend when I have time to review things in detail.

We spent most of our time last year from Caesars back the other direction, so looking forward to checking out this end this trip.

I think you'll love Wynn. Pretty much all you need to know is "please" and "thank you" to get great service.

Sinatra is our favorite restaurant in Las Vegas and we're going for wife's birthday in October. We're also going to SW as our other fine dining this upcoming trip. We think the refreshed and updated Wynn buffet is terrific. Wynn/Encore has the best on premises combination of casual and fine dining on the Strip-you don't much need to leave if you don't want to. Good dining options next door at Palazzo/Venetian and even across the street at Fashion Show. We also love Wazuzu on the Encore side

The construction is on the Encore side and is for more shopping on the Strip side-I doubt you'll be affected at all.

The so called "$20 trick" for upgrades does not work at Wynn-but, you will frequently be offered a good upgrade deal at check in if they're not full. The Wynn Insider is running a temporary and spectacular 25% off Anniversary Sale right now-look at it and see if you want to upgrade on your own. If it's a special occasion and you can afford it, upgrade to the Tower Suites, our vote for the best casino resort hotel in the city. Again, check the deals on the Wynn Insider web site. Often all you need to do is to ask nicely if an upgraded suite is available.

Showstoppers is being discontinued sometime in the future-don't know when. Le Reve is a spectacular show, but it's Cirque, so it's weird. Advance tickets/reservations are usually a must.

Everyone has different tastes, Vegas opinions and favorite activities. This is just our view. We don't think you can go wrong staying at Wynn and doing whatever you want.

The only clouds at Wynn are a few crappy 6:5 blackjack tables and restricting dice throwers to double odds. Otherwise the casinos on both sides are terrific. Everything is spotless and perfectly maintained, cocktails are good and servers come by often. For the most part dealers are friendly and professional and most pit supervisors are welcoming. Make sure you sign up for a Red a Card first thing and use it always-you might be surprised with what they give you.

We're older and more restrained than the usual Vegas tourists, but we've visited Las Vegas every anniversary of our long and happy true love marriage-we think it's a good luck tradition. Works for us.

Hope you have a great time-you started out with a great hotel choice.

Mark - Johnny Jackpot and I are big fans of Wynn and Encore so you'll find us a little biased:thumbsup: That said, if you loved Caesars you will be starry eyed staying at The Wynn. There is not a bad restaurant in either hotel if you ask me and there are tastes and flavors for any pallet. You'll find the casino floor continuously spotless....to the point where if you're playing a machine and get up and leave, a Wynn employee will be shortly behind you cleaning it. The great thing about Wynn is it's all those things but it's not stuffy and you'll see people having as much fun around a craps table as you will anywhere else. If you guys like to party and dance, they have a couple of the best nightclubs in Vegas, yet if that is not your thing you really don't see much of that crowd. About the only negative thing for me (as I'm probably older than you) is the very young (and usually drunk) crowd at Encore Beach Club during the day but that's a summertime thing so that will be closed when you're there in Nov. If you like more of a lounge atmosphere, there is Michael Monge and his band who play the Eastside Lounge at Encore starting about 9pm and he's a really great singer and there is plenty of room to dance. They do a lot of great cover songs, including some the great stuff that Frank and Dino did back in the day. If you're in the mood for a bit of an old school dining experience, try the Country Club. It's off the beaten path at the end of the hall past the café at Wynn and a lot of people miss it because they don't wander down that far. Great view of the golf course and a lot of beautiful dark wood in the interior. For fine dining you said you already know about SW and the Lakeside and Sinatra are not to be missed as well. We eat more casually most of the time and love Allegro, La Cave and we're looking forward to trying the newest place, Jardin (used to be Botero). Zooza Crackers is great place to stop in the middle of the day for an inexpensive (by Vegas standards) lunch.

I totally agree w/ Johnny about looking to update to the Tower Suite if it's in your budget. It's the same room inside as the Resort room but you have a separate and quiet entrance and lobby bar plus keep in mind, in the TS rooms you don't get charged the resort fee (but you still get all the amenities) and breakfast at Tableau is included daily.

Another suggestion....since it's a special occasion, I'd highly recommend starting out by using Presidential Limo's. They have RT specials from $70 and up. You'll spend at least $20 or more for a cab and for $15 more, it's a great way to start and end your trip. We've used them for about 7 years now. It's a little thing but it makes it fun to get off the plane and walk down to baggage claim and see the guy in the suit holding your name. He'll take your bags to the car and you'll be off to your vacation in.....Fabulous Las Vegas:beer: Have a ball, enjoy Wynn and Happy Anniversary.

+1 on Dean's excellent reminder to book a limo. We sometimes rate a house car or we book at a discount through the concierge. For a modest extra cost we get a courteous, uniformed driver, a little help with our bags, a clean car, cold drink and a complete lack of hassle. A very strong "agree" on the recommendation.

Also +1 on Wynn's excellent casual dining. Zoozacrackers is a good casual deli style venue for a less involved lunch or dinner-great people watching. Terrace Pointe is an excellent breakfast and lunch place-we eat breakfast at Tableau, but I always hit Terrace Pointe for a great salad or my once a trip 'kid's lunch'-a great cheeseburger and old fashioned fountain style chocolate milkshake. Yum-i'm thinking of the good food at Wynn already even though we have 34 days to go.

A quick add on benefit to the Tower Suites besides the well-published laundry list of perks (even free pressing for your clothes)-your Tower Suites room key card is also a line pass for the buffet and Terrace Pointe. This is a nice benefit during peak periods. I hate lines and won't stand in one for anything. Oh my, I'm already thinking of the buffet.......

Guilty completely on being a Wynn/Encore fan, previously a Bellagio fan and a Mirage fan before that. Do you sense a Wynn property theme here? If we're biased (I prefer 'observant and discerning', lol) the Wynn staff has certainly earned it. I think when your trip is over you'll do comparisons and Wynn/Encore will prevail in almost every category except a more convenient mid Strip location if you like to walk in cooler weather. Mr. Wynn has always run the best place in town since he opened Mirage. Our vacation days are limited and, to us, a Las Vegas day is more valuable than a routine day at home. We don't want ordinary, hassle or discomfort of any sort. The Wynn staff staff seems to get this.

    You're going to love it.

Update...I upgraded to the Tower Suites last night for just a fraction more. The guy on the phone w/ reservations was very helpful and I especially like not having to worry about breakfast each morning now...9:30 a.m. reservations each day. And being away from the hustle and bustle to our room is another plus (loved this part of being in the Octavious Tower at Caesars)

And I am 53, wife is 50, so we are past our "party" days but still love a good act in a club, and are music aficionados by nature, so we will look for a good concert as well. I did well in a Hold Em tourney at Caesars last year so will probably try and repeat that.

As of now, we are looking at Cut and Sinatra for our two extravagant dinners.

Thanks again for all the comments.

Mark-great choices all around. Cut is excellent and an easy walk across the bridge-just walk down the Esplanade and turn left. You might also consider SW-shorter trip. As we said, Sinatra is our favorite in all of Las Vegas. Tower Suites are the best-you've correctly noticed that when you subtract resorts fee and consider the included breakfast and other perks, it's not an extravagance.

You'll appreciate having a reservation at Tableau during peak periods. By your second day Paola and her crew will recognize you and remember your preferences. The pastry basket with the Tableau Breakfast is one of my favorite Vegas treats. Jeez, thinking about wonderful Wynn food again.

Tower Suites tip: your housekeepers will fill your ice bucket when they visit, but we use a lot of ice and it melts (and they'll leave a couple of fresh water bottles). The Tower Suites are apparently too foo foo to have a hallway ice machine-it's locked in the service room and you're supposed to call for fresh ice. But, there is a self service monstro ice machine by the elevator bank on every floor of the resort tower. If you go the end of your Tower Suites hallway there's a door to the resort tower-go through and down the hall if you want to replenish your own ice. CAUTION: the door which separates the Tower Suites side from the Resort Tower is one way out but locked from the other side.. You need your room key to get back with your did-not-have-to-call-anybody ice.

Second Tower Suites tip: the Tableau service bar serves complimentary coffee, etc., starting at 7:00, you can run downstairs for some to go if you're up before your breakfast reservation (I'm always awake on Central time, sadly). Before that there's coffee and pastries, juice, etc. at the Tower Suites bar, but it's not comped. As you may know, conveniently right at the bottom of the elevators. Yay, more included good stuff.

Thanks, Johnny...I am an early riser by nature so coffee is always needed early, and as long as I come back w/ a cup of hot tea for the lady, the morning will go well, lol.

We ate at SW last year and it was excellent. Loved the Lake scenes and I anticipate having a few cocktails at the parasol bars.

Last year, I used the 20$ trick to get a room with a great view on one of the higher floors.
I can also recommend breakfast at Tableau - expensive (if not included in room rate), but great. But you have to reserve a table in advance. Otherwise you will have to wait ages on a busy day to get seated.

Nothing against anyone trying it, but I'm pretty sure that a Wynn desk employee accepting money in exchange for a room upgrade will be fired, or at the very least corrective disciplinary action will be imposed. I have more reasons to know this than I can disclose on this board.

Of course, no rule against trying it and taking advantage of a larcenous employee. There's always someone claiming it happened, so employees must be doing it.

I'd would suggest to most that you should just ask nicely.

Tagging on here to say Wynncore is beautiful, elegant, and very well managed. The Wynn casino is constantly lively and full of action. The food is can't miss regardless of what restaurant you tried. (SW might be one of my favorites). I can't review on the room since I've only stayed at Encore and was going to stay at Wynn but decided to stay at Encore again (in November as well! First week). As long as you go in with no expectations (despite how much Johnny and Dean have raved about it) you'll be BLOWN away by the service.

    Have a great trip.

When I did the 20$ trick, I arrived there very late, nobody was around except for the receptionist. Maybe that was the reason why it worked...?

One thing that has been hammered home here, is the cleanliness of both properties. Amazing. I was amazed particularly at the bathrooms. Spotless all the damn time. Its kinda creepy. I don't think there was/is a cleaner property in Vegas.

Wynn is currently our favorite Las Vegas Resort. Its well maintained and the service is great.
I think Wynn is one of the easiest Resorts for someone to navigate around and is well laid out.
Some of our favorite dining spots are: The Buffet, Terrace Pointe Cafe & ZoozaCrackers Deli.

Thanks to all for the comments and tips.

Question....Fremont St....tourist trap or a bucket list thing to do? It has been 10+ yrs since I have ventured d-town LV and that was just for a short time. I am wondering if I should take 3-4 hours and head over one evening or scrap it. Thanks.

Almost certainly both. If you haven't been in ten years, you might want to make the trip and check it out so you'll be sure that you never want to waste the time going back.

+1 to Dean's and JJ's comments. I just returned from an 11-night (yes 11) trip to Vegas. The first 7 nights were in the Encore Tower Suites and the last 4 nights in Caesars in the Augustus Tower. I'm Seven Stars at Caesars and because I live in NY (with AC close by), CET properties will always get decent play from me but I now set aside most of my bankroll in Vegas for Wynncore, even with my CET Seven Stars status. Even after 7 days, I wasn't ready to leave Encore. When I walk into the Encore Tower Suites area (which is all green), I am so happy I want to cry. Not kidding. I feel like I just walked into my beautiful home away from home.

In addition to all of the comments above, the Tower Suites also has nightly turn down service and I love the Wynncore Molton Brown products, which are a Cocoa and Tonka bean scent that I can't find anywhere. I understand Molton Brown makes products with that mild/gender neutral fragrance for Mr. Wynn's properties only. After the cleaning service, I dump all of the toiletries in a drawer and put out a nice tip for turn down service and then dump those products in the late evening, which are then fully replenished the next morning. So yeah, after 7 nights (and 13 times of service of my room), I brought back a VERY nice stash of product! Every time I use them at home I think of Vegas and of my stay at Wynncore in particular.

I saw where a monster boxing match has been booked for T-Mobile when we are there in Nov. This has always been on my bucket list of sporting events so I may have to check this out. Plus, that arena looks amazing.
