The prices on the Strip are high enough without those horrid concession (CNF) fees. Any way to find out which restaurants charge them? What is the rhyme or reason behind them anyway? (Aside from ripping off tourists because they can)

Fairly certain HExx and the Beer Park at Paris do. I also think I read that Double Barrel at Monte Carlo does.

    Happy birthday to me!

I posted this in another thread:

The ones I've heard are Sugar Factory, Beer Park, Hexx, Diablo's and Cabo Wabo Cantina.

Look for small print at the bottom of the menu.

The runaround they gave to bloggers when asked was this is a fee that the landlord (the casino) is charging the operator as part of their contract, and they just pass it along.

But that is total bunk regardless. Nothing stopping them from having the fee already built into individual prices.

Whelp, that takes Diablo's off my list. Been in there several times, never even noticed.

I'm pretty laissez-faire about prices on the Strip, but this fee on top of already high prices is just a straight opportunistic gouge, and there's no excuse for it. When I heard this was happening at Beer Park I vowed never to go in, haven't and won't.

I think for many of us, it's not the extra five bucks; it's that it's tucked in the fine print. Kind of like hotel resort fees. When they are added in, a hotel room in Vegas is still a bargain relative to other large cities, esp. tourist destinations. For that matter, try parking your car at a hotel in DC or NYC for $10. Just give me a total price and let me decide. Don't look for ever more ways to get an extra couple of bucks here and there.

    Descending from soapbox now...

Totally agree. If I KNOW you're gouging me, I'm fine with it. If you try to slip in a fee without being upfront about it, I will walk away. All of us know we're going to spend money on the strip and that's fine, it's the cost of entry. Just don't be sneaky about it.

And that's why they get away with charging it. I always annualize a charge like that to see the real impact.

I think that 50 dollar resort fees, 5% CF, parking fees, and 15$ cocktails are perfect for the LV Strip.

Popped my head into Beer Park when there in June, seemed pretty sparse for a Saturday night.

Plus a bunch of people just sitting in seats at the rail not having purchased any drink or food. This place doesn't seem to have their act together so far.

Agree with the general sentiment here. Why not just reflect the concession fee in the price of the food?

No one would think twice about a menu item costing $10.99 instead of $10.49. But charge that 5% as an additional tax that's hidden in the fine print? Then you get a ton a people boycotting the place on principle.

Agree 100%, they knew they had rent to pay when opening and adding a concession fee is crazy. Like has been said why not just raise prices 4-5% and call it good................Rick
