It's fun to watch the marathon down on Fremont St. I watched part of it a few years ago and it was great. The first people that come through are the wheel chair marathoners and all I can say is don't blink because they are flying. I really dig seeing all the people who wear funky outfits, run in flip-flops and, especially, the people who are gutting out mile after mile to take on the challenge of achieving a personal goal. Hats off to all of them!!!

We'll be there. Arriving on the 11th. Paperposter, what do you think the odds are that we can get a shuttle on the 13th to the Rio for Penn & Teller?

Scheduled to land at 7:00pm on Sat, Nov 12. Hopefully, the WAX will still be running to get me Downtown.

Saturday will be fine. It will be Sunday around 2:00 P.M. where things will start getting hard to move around by car or bus. Also, the roads should start opening back up by 10:30 P.M.

Depends on where you would be taking the shuttle from.

They start closing down the strip around 2:00. Traffic will probably start getting bad then. You should contact Rio to see if their shuttle is running that afternoon/evening.

You might have seen me trotting down Fremont....or limping down it, depending on whether you saw me at mile 9 or mile 23!

    Hi,
We arrive at Harrahs on the 13 of Nov. and have tickets to Carrot Top. I was planning on taking the bus to pick up our tickets at the Luxor at about 4:00 pm. However, I just learned about this marathon and need to know if the monorail will be running. I presume it will be. Even though we will be driving to Las Vegas, we just don't want to fight the traffic behind the strip. I'm sure it will be bad. Advice suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks,
    K-9treatbaker

    Sniff009,
Thank you so much for your advice. I agree, we will make sure we arrive at the Luxor before 3:30pm. I don't think we can pick up our tickets until 4:00pm so maybe we will just hang on that end of the strip until show time. Hopefully going back to Harrahs after the show will be a bit easier.

    Thanks,
    K-9

K-9, also expect the middle of the strip to be closed to vehicular traffic until after 11, especially on the Mirage side of things (which is where the finish line and holding area is for runner refreshments post race). What will be awesome is the right side (Harrah's, PH, Bally's) side will still be closed as well, so you will get the rare opportunity to grab a photo on the strip sans traffic.

Assuming your show starts at 7pm and ends around 9pm, taking the monorail back will be good.

Two years ago we arrived in Vegas the Sunday of the run and it took almost an hour to get to Planet Hollywood because of the traffic on Harmon. It was enjoyable watching all the runners while we drank our beers on the sidewalk out front.

Thanks for the tip, we'll be arriving late (8:15 pm) Sunday the 13th so this info is so pertinent cuz we're staying at the Linq this time. Can I assume we can get to the hotel from Koval?
