I have an upcoming trip in November and was wondering what 3 golf courses was a must. My last trip I played TPC Vegas my favorite all time and Bali on the strip which was very nice.

Never played them but Coyote Springs, Cascata, and Shadow Creek come to mind.

If you can gain access, Shadow Creek, Southern Highlands and SouthShore.

If talking public (SC is somewhat public and the other two are available through certain associations), then expanding the circle to take in the greater area, the top three are Coyote Springs, Wolf Creek and -- for me at Paiute -- Sun Mountain. If you're a Caesars player kick out the drive to Mesquite for Wolf Creek and play Cascata. If Coyote Springs it too far for you, slide in Reflection Bay.

I saw on a website that Shadow Creek is open to MGM Resort guests. Is there other criteria for getting a tee time, or just availability and willingness to pay?

My favorite courses played so far are: TPC Las Vegas (which you have played already), Spanish Trail, Rio Secco and Pauite - Wolf. I highly recommend Coyote Springs, it's a great track and I'm looking forward to playing it again soon ;)

Thank each one of you for your input. I didn't realize how many places you could golf in Vegas. I typed in Top 10 golf in Vegas and a lot of mentioned courses were not even on there.
I was wondering Spanish Trails a members only or open to the Public?

We book most of our golf through vipgolfservices.com and on one of our trips they were able to book Spanish Trail for us. I think it's still on the list of courses they can book the public on. There are tons of courses to golf in and around Las Vegas, we have yet to golf the same course twice in 5+ trips.

You can book Spanish trail on golfnow. It's inside a gated community but open to the public. Nice course but not a must play.

Limited M-Th tee times. $500, plus caddie tip, etc.

Spanish Trail? Ummm, OK, if it's cheap, but a good way down the list.

Because so many best-in-this-locale lists on the internet are shit.

An elaboration: If its' a general reader compilation, you tend to get a high percentage of average or worse, definitely lower-priced places because most folks experience one or only a few, typically middling courses for which the respondent found a deal. Tally all those up and Las Vegas National trumps Reflection Bay, for instance. There is nothing at all wrong with value plays, as we all seek those out. But in golf, in many instances, cheap doesn't simply win.
