    Hi Everyone,

I just returned from three nights at Mandalay Bay on a marketing offer: comped standard room, $100 RC, $50 FP.

I only play slots at anywhere from $2-20 per bet (more on the $2-10 side) and over the trip did $16,500 coin-in with an estimated loss of $1,500, at Mandalay Bay specifically. I earned over 50,000 TC and along with points from Mlife Mastercard, I'm over half way to platinum.

At the end of my stay I went to the Mlife desk and asked if I had any additional comps. A host reviewed my play over the phone and dropped another $200 of room charges. I also used about $70 in express comps, so my final bill was under $200.

I have an offer booked at Aria in December for three nights comped and $100 RC, and am wondering if I should contact the host who reviewed my play at MB and see what they would offer.

If I stick with the Aria offer, I probably won't gamble much as I don't care for Aria's casino. I assume that would affect my chances of future comps at Aria as the offer is based on previous play, only $1k coin in over three days. Not a big deal to me, like I said, not a big fan of their casino and the tub-in-shower combo is just weird.

What might the MB host offer based on my play? I'd like to get a suite comped with some RC and maybe FP if possible, and rates are very low during the days I'll be there. If I stay at MB, I'll definitely be gambling because I like the MB casino. Was my first time at MB, and I really, really enjoyed it, even more so than Aria.

Any thoughts? I know I could email the host, but I wanted to get opinions here first in case the host offer could screw up my corporate offer, etc. First time w/ a host.

    Thanks!

Sorry, this is incorrect. I earned over 50k TC, but MasterCard points don't push it to over 100k. I'm still Mlife Gold.

The easiest way to look at it is that your play was $200 worth of comps better than the offer you stayed on. $5,500 coin-in a night is also a decent level.

What I'd expect is that at some point, you'll get a property-specific offer from MB that will be a little better than the corporate offer you used. That could come in the form of either a better room, or a bump in FP/RC, possibly both. I would think they'd bump you up to $150 FP/$100 RC.

I think the problem you have is the offer cycle. It's doubtful you'll get a boosted offer in time.

I would definitely try to contact a host or VIP Services at MB. I think they may be hamstrung in bumping your FP/RC because at this play level, corporate ends up doing those calculations. But they probably could at least offer you a better room type (figure maybe ~$75 a night better). They might be able to bump your RC. FP I think would be the least likely thing they could bump.

It's possibly worth a shot calling Aria, but I don't think you'll get as far there, you don't love the casino, and it will take more play there to maintain equivalent comp standing. So I'd talk to MB first and if you're happy, leave it at that.

ETA: If you are also booked at Aria on a corporate offer, if I'm right, the way it will work is that VIP Services or a host will end up booking you at MB on the same offer code. If you actually talk to a host (which would be preferable if you have direct contact info), he will bump your room type. He may make a "side deal" with you to bump your RC. But you'll basically be booking the same offer you've booked at Aria.

But MB will need you to cancel that Aria reservation before they can book you. So I'd suggest logging into your MLife account when you call. There's a place there under the Guest Services menu to look up your reservation. If the conversation goes well, you can cancel the Aria reservation online, and I think within a few seconds, that should free up the offer code and let MB book you. Hopefully, that's how it will go.

Thanks for your response!! I'll get in contact with the host they assigned me and will let you know how it goes! Hopefully I can justify canceling the Aria offer.

MB host responded... Offering 3 comped nights in a standard room w/ king bed and strip view, $100 RC. The offer sounds final.

MB strip view king is $62/night for those nights w/ Mlife discount. Aria standard room is $150/night w/ Mlife discount.

I think this is a no brainer on my end...

Guess they don't want my pathetically low play.

I'm a little surprised MB wouldn't offer you a better room.

You didn't mention whether the Aria offer had any freeplay, but yeah, I think you probably keep the Aria reservation.

If it's a corporate offer, and you play at the same level you did on the last trip, I'd expect:

    • The next round of corporate offers that show up should be better than your last one.
    • Your next MB-specific offer should be at least as good as the next corporate one
    • You'll start getting Aria-specific offers (if you do most or all of your play at Aria)

The downside is, you don't love Aria, and you probably won't get much back end at Aria. But you could still go down and do all your play at MB and wait for the offers to catch up.

The Aria offer was an 'exclusive' offer for three nights and $100 RC, no FP. The fine print says something about it being based upon previous play, etc., etc. As I mentioned, very low.

I'm surprised MB didn't at least match the per night room value of the Aria comp. On this trip I gave MB more play than I have EVER given Aria in all previous trips combined. I guess I can get used to the casino if the comps are better at Aria than MB. When will the next round of offers come out? I have a number of offers expiring today 10/15, but most are buy two get one rates, etc. I got another of the same Aria offer after booking it for December, but don't want to book it again and have it withdrawn in case I don't feel like playing there in December.

I have yet another trip booked for February, maybe I'll get some good MB offers by then.

Chuck's analysis included all I want to say.
I am also surprised MB didn't give you a better offer.
Your ADT is about the same or even slightly higher than mine.
My offers from B & A are always with at least $100 FP & $100 RC.

I can't really say when you will get newer offers; I'm mostly phasing out MGM properties, so I don't pay as much attention to their offer cycle any more. I think there was a set of offers that either expired 10/31 or had to be booked by 10/31. And then another that were good through 2/28 I think.

It might take into January before you have offers that clearly reflect your play.

Host got back to me with an updated promotional offer. 3 nights in a suite, $100 RC, $100 FP. I'm going to keep the Aria reservation for December because the friends I'm traveling with are staying at Aria and I'd rather not go back and forth. What kind of suite might I expect? I'm thinking it refers to a junior/executive suite.

I'm waiting to hear back if I can use my promo offer in February. Mandalay and Delano are showing up as unavailable during some of those days, Feb. 11-15. Are there any conventions or events I don't know about other than Valentine's day? I'm not finding anything online so not sure why the hotel is unavailable. Most other Mlife hotels are showing availability.

On another note, would anyone happen to know what GVR or RR may offer to someone w/ similar play? I'm thinking about heading over to one or both to play slots on my next trip. I've never been, and both look very relaxing. Are these places busy during the week? I like traveling midweek to avoid crowded casinos.

Red Rock and GVR are station casinos. They always offer me great comps. Three nights, $150 FP and 50 RC. I maybe only play $1k for slots and tables when I head off strip during my stay at Delano. Stations are usually the best for comps IMO.

What kills me about Mlife is that a $100 RC offer basically amounts to a -$8 RC offer since, at least the last few times I've stayed, they've refused to waive resort fees for comp'd rooms. On the other hand, V/P and Cosmopolitan have always waived resort fees (and given me better offers based on same or lower amount of play), so now I basically only stay at Mlife properties a couple nights a year - and only because I prefer the pool at MB to anyplace else on the strip. Annoying because I'd love to give Aria a try, but can't really justify it.

I did pay resort fee on my comped room at Mandalay so I'll ask for that to be taken off next time. I agree, if you're there on a comp offer, you should not have to pay the resort fee as it is mandatory and should just be built in to the cost of the room anyway.

The casino at V/P doesn't appeal to me at all, and I've always thought it was very crowded with the machines so close together. Their rooms look fantastic though and they have a great selection of restaurants.

I won't stay at Cosmo because the balconies freak me out. Do they have rooms on higher floors without balconies?

Cosmo ABSOLUTELY has non-balcony rooms, just not sure how high. City Rooms have no balcony. And Cosmo has treated us amazingly well, I can't recommend them highly enough.

Cosmo has "City Rooms" which are just regular hotel rooms that I think have a standard bathroom and king or Queen bed. They don't have the suite feel like the balcony rooms. IMO if you want to avoid rooms with a balcony, you're better off elsewhere.
