What!? You're going to Vegas again!!

Say my friends when we tell them I've booked for November! They will probably never understand the draw to Vegas like we all here do. Where else, has the "vibe" we all crave?! The food, hotel, show choices and this list could go on!!

First win of the trip is.......

FLIGHTS Used points to book flights and was able to book first class tickets (return) on Alaska for the amount of points economy would have cost! We weren't going to take the golf clubs but 2 free checked bags changes all that!!

Second win!!

Hotel: Luxor - all 5 nights comped!! Called up our host and set up the room for 5 nights and all the perks from our latest offer airport pickup, RC & FP.

We still need to book a car and golf.

Car Rental - Looking for a price we are happy to pay. We've had the car rental at $100cdn for 3 days which we might just book as we are splitting the cost 3 ways, and it's cheaper than cabbing it to golf courses and to meet our friends staying at South Point.

Golf!! DH is looking at Boulder Creek and Pauite Sun or Mountain as we haven't played either course. I wouldn't mind going playing Rio Secco and Coyote Springs again, we are at odds on which courses to golf. He wants to play courses we haven't played yet and I want a second chance at some we played when I was a 20+ cap as I think I would enjoy them more now that I'm a lower cap.

The lady travelling with us would like to see a show too, so we might have to fit that in. I was thinking more on doing some things we've never done such as: Neon Boneyard, Welcome sign, Valley of Fire.

No matter what we book or what we see, it's going to be a great trip... which is long over due... so very happy to be going back "home"

 

I'm with you. Other than the buddy I travel with and my BIL, no one understands. I think I have to find new friends.

 

I used to get that a lot from friends and workmates. Now I just get asked. "So when's your next trip to Vegas then?"

 

One of my wife's co-workers: "So, I hear you go to Vegas. A lot. We're going and wanted to ask you..."
"A lot", I believe, is a subjective term.

 

When I used to have friends and had a job, I always got asked the same thing. Now, whenever I tell someone I've made over 100 trips and am going again, they question my sanity. So do I!

 

Yup, we get that a lot. But people sure appreciate it when they are trying to book a trip and need advice or input!

 

I have got to the point where I don't bring it up. Both my brothers don't understand why the wife and I enjoy Vegas. We went last month with the whole family and because of a great offer and free flights we are going again next month. It is the shortest time period we have ever had between trips but the only people we will tell is my parents. So go and have a great time because I know I will.

My friend keeps bugging me to go with him to Milwaukee. I live about 5 hours away from my state's largest city, but have only been there twice in my life.

My friends also say the same thing. I've gone once, but now i tell them that I want to go back. But, it was so much fun the first time that I know that I have to go a second time.

 

Wifey and I were in Vegas last week for 5 nights. The day after arriving home, I say to her that I just may go back in December, myself. At first she says I shouldn't because I can't afford to....but a day later gives me her blessings to go. Then, the next day she says that she wants to go too. I of course think that's great, as we are a great team together in Vegas......she does her thing, I do mine.....and we dine and lounge together. However, for a bit there I was looking forward to having a solo trip, you know?! Now (today), I am not so sure it's wise for either of us to go....but, she wants to.
What to do............

 

As you can tell, you're not alone...it seems you either "get" Vegas, or you really, really don't. My favorite was my coworker, who always calls it "lost wages" when I go, attempting to be nice when I told him I was no longer going to tell him where I am going. He then tried to say how Vegas can be cool, especially with the 2$ buffets. ($2, not $20). I think he was still picturing Vegas Vacation. I just grinned and said it's changed a bit.

Ugh I HATE the lost wages "joke" At least one Southwest employee pulls this every time I fly them. I'm not generally uptight but it's a really tired joke and there is this air of superiority about it, Bleh!

One co-worker is genuinely curious and asks why I go. He doesn't gamble, ok I get that. But he really likes to eat. So I try and explain it that way. Imagine being able to choose from a huge array of dining experiences, from all the humble sports book hot dogs you want, to a 5 star multi-course experience. And all while being treated like the most important person in the world. That he kind of gets.

Ah, pity the fools....

 

"Lost Wages, Do you play the Wheel of Torture?, "Did you know that Vegas was not built on WINNERS"....I am no longer NICE when replying. The expression I do still like is "Sin City".

 

My father-in-law uses "Lost Wages" all the time, even when just talking about the debate or other non-gambling news stories about the city.
I think he's still pissed that he lost five bucks on the LAS slot machines while on a four-hour layover years ago!

Great comments. When I say I've been to Vegas almost 30 times and average a week a trip my friends think I'm crazy. My good friends know that I am . I guess a guy in his early 30's is supposed to mix things up more, but when I get these offers to spend a grand or two to join friends and family in Hawaii or Cabo I just think how much fun I could have in Vegas for that kind of money.

 

The most interesting reaction comes from a lady I don't even know that well. She is a cashier at Dollar Tree.
I usually buy one or two decks of "casino-used" cards for s#its and giggles--and to get my purchase up to ten bucks to make those behind me in line thinking "Damn, he's a big spender!"

A few times ago she asked if I'd ever been to Vegas. I said yes, my bride and I like to visit and enjoy the city, etc.
She frowned and asked how I could go and sit at the sinner's table.
I responded, "Well, at most of the buffets who knows where the hostess will try to seat you."
She didn't seem to like that response.

Yesterday I stopped by, adding a deck of Sam's Town cards to my purchase this time.
Just a look of recognition in her eyes, a shake of the head, and no questions this time.
I get my purchase home and there's a card with the Footprints poem on one side and "Praying for You--Trudi" on the reverse.

I can't wait to bring news of a big Vegas hand pay back to Trudi and to say, "It worked!"

@Priv8guy - what a dilemma to have, lol! Sounds like you and wifey are a great team and will figure it out - either way, Vegas will always be there to welcome you back

 

Richard - That is hilarious she will definitely love to hear that her praying for you brought you good luck!

Priv8guy - I vote you both go! Although, I enjoy trips without DH, I normally wish he is there.

I have no clue how many times I've been to Vegas but I would imagine it's over 50 and I still get excited about going. Trips used to be 3 days, which was plenty but now that I golf I need at least 5 days.

I look forward to great golf, fabulous food, super shows and gambling galore I realize other destinations have the same to offer but they all lack the "Vegas Vibe" to which I'm addicted!
