Looking for some advice. Two guys both TotalRewards Platinum are heading to Vegas for four nights. The last two will be comped on the strip. Probably Flamingo or Planet Ho. The first two we want to stay downtown. Am I correct that there are not TR hotels downtown? If true, will anyone offer us any nice deals.

yes if you are comped at CET many of, if not all, the Downtown casinos will match what you are getting on the strip. Give whichever DT casino you want to stay at a ring or drop em an email.

What's the "best" downtown hotel in terms of their rooms? I have never stayed downtown and have never been to any hotel/casino there.

That's interesting though. I may give this a try sometime.

Golden Nugget would be the closest to the strip I believe. They're larger than most of the rooms downtown.

For comps, I would recommend the D or Golden Gate. Nothing wrong with being on the "ground floor" of the Stevens empire.

For those of you who didn't get that last part, I would expect that The Stevens brothers will be building a massive complex on the West End of Fremont Street, and the "loyal, prior" customer might be first in line to receive benefits.

That's why I try to stay in "good" with the D.

If you can't get an up-front comped room Downtown book the room anyway. When you arrive, ask to speak to a host. Show them a copy of your confirmation at Flam/PH showing the room is comped with a zero charge. Ask them if they comp at check-in. They won't...but will tell you to see them at check-out and may comp you at that time. The comp is much easier to get when checking out if you're not contacting them 'cold' at check-out but have met them on the way in. I believe they will register you as their guest coming in and so get credit for your trip and thus will more likely comp you. As always in Las Vegas, speak to the host prior to checking out to see how much they're willing to comp off of your entire bill.

GN or a Boyd property. I use Boyd- Bconnect as backup to CET

Golden Nugget can't comp up front anymore, this is how I got in before they made that rule. But they will look at your play at the vip room next to the gold tower elevators.
Before I started going downtown, I emailed host at 4 Queens, but all she would give me up front was a casino rate. The D host I emailed absolutely said no until I played
there. I get comped at GN now, Freemont and Golden Gate. Seems like Fremont is the easiest for me to get comped, but rooms aren't great.
