    Any suggestions?

We're going to do the "dam" tour the second week of September and could make it a days outing if we can find an interesting/cool/very good place to eat lunch or even dinner. So anything on route or even around the Lake would be great.

    Thanks in advance,

    Steve

I like Lindo Michoacan in Henderson. If you are staying on the strip you'll be taking 215/515 out to the dam and this place is right off the freeway. Good Mexican food with a great view. It's close to Green Valley Ranch.

That Coffee Shop place in Boulder City comes to mind immediately but that's more of a breakfast-lunch place.

This is my area of expertise - on each trip to Vegas I visit Boulder City several times and have made friends with some of the people in the shops there. You want to go to the Historic District, where all the restaurants are. There are also a bunch of great little shops where you can browse through curios and antique items. All of these restaurants I am mentioning below are very close to each other so you can check out the vibe when you get there and decide.

The Dillinger is one of my favorite spots (how can you not love a place that has rifles as the door handle you pull to enter?) It is a former bank and it is a very cool place. It has a bar and the food they serve is very good. The smoked gouda cheese bites appetizer is addictive, and I have had some great burgers there - their signature burger is appropriately called "The Dillinger" and has cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon and beef brisket (!) on top. I also really like the chicken finger sandwich with a side of onion rings.

Another place I love is the Boulder Dam Brewing Company - they brew their own craft beer and serve some great items too. I have had the giant hot pretzel with cheese dipping sauce as an appetizer, I've tried their burgers and onion rings as well as their French Dip roast beef sandwich - all very good.

I believe the restaurant that dmr was referring to above is The Coffee Cup Café (famous for being on an episode of Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives"). It is definitely more diner than dive, and the food is what you would expect in any decent diner. They are only open from breakfast to 2pm each day so keep that in mind if you want to try it:

Another diner, which is a little further down, is the Southwest Diner. I have not eaten there yet myself, but my Boulder City friends have recommended it:

One place I used to really enjoy was Milo's Wine Cellar. They ended up being featured on Channel 13 last year (the ABC affiliate in Las Vegas) on an episode of "Dirty Dining" which put me off them. You can try them if you like, but I just wanted to put it out there because I am sure you will pass it and think it looks like a cool spot, so I wanted you to have all the facts beforehand. You can google "Milo's Wine Cellar" and "Dirty Dining" if you want to see the segment.

    Here is their website:

I have never eaten at Evan's Old Town Grille, but the people of Yelp really seem to enjoy it:

These last two are not restaurants, but these are my favorite two shops in Boulder City. The Western & Mexican Center has so many cool little items, they have gorgeous pottery, Native American jewelry and all kinds of things - it is a fun place to browse in. They don't have a website that I can find, but this is their Yelp page:

This is an amazing shop! Individual people rent little spaces where they sell all kinds of things from old antique toys to lamps, clothing - anything you can think of. it's like a huge funky indoor flea market. The building itself is historical because it used to house the laundry works that did the laundry for the men who built the Hoover Dam:

Before you get to The Hoover Dam there is a turnoff where you can park and walk up to the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. There is a pedestrian walkway that gives you a breathtaking view of the Hoover Dam and The Colorado River. You can get some incredible photos from that vantage point:

Another fun place is Nelson's Landing, which is not too far from Boulder City. They offer a tour of the gold mine there (you have to call in advance because the tour is only about two or three times a day and for a limited number of people) and it looks like you stepped back in time. There is an old General Store, antique cars and a crashed plane from a movie that was filmed there - in fact several movies were filmed there. It is a great place to check out if you have the time:

Hopefully some of these tips will help - have a great time, I love it there!

P.S. - Desi Arnaz Jr. lives in Boulder City and owns the Boulder Theater right across from The Dillinger.

The restaurant in the Hoover Dam Lodge isn't bad, either.

Uh-huh, that is the one, although I don't remember seeing it on DD&D. I tend to watch that when I'm channel surfing when nothing else appears to be on.

It was on an early season - maybe even the first season of the show. I have the DVD sets for Seasons 1-3 and it's on one of those seasons.

Wanted to give a shout out thanks to jr7110 for the Boulder City and Dillinger's recommendation. We had the Dillinger burger and even I could not finish it! It was great and Boulder City may have become a "must visit" on future trips.

You are very welcome - I am glad you enjoyed your trip, and the Dillinger burger! Boulder City (and The Dillinger) have definitely become one of my "must visits" on every trip...so has Mt. Charleston (same distance from The Strip to Boulder City, but in the opposite direction). That is another recommendation to check out on a future visit - feel free to message me for info.
