Orleans comped room reservation confirmation

I got an email confirming my reservation. I guess it is a form letter but it was explaining how a resort fee of $17.81 per night was going to be added to my bill. When did it get so high? So I called and found out that the fee still does not apply to comped rooms. A waste of my time and it gave me serious thoughts about changing my plans. Loyalty should work both ways, they should make a little effort to stop sending out this info when it doesn't apply.

 

They way I understand it, they can choose to apply the fee on comped reservations where they get stiffed with no play. I think that's why you see the message on the fee on every reservation. I've checked into Gold Coast and been told to expect the fee even though it was waived.

 

Wow, I actually was planning on skipping out on the second night. This certainly raises the stakes!

 

Never got charged the resort fee in like a dozen comped trips. Just play an hour or so each day and you will be fine.

 

Same here for way over two dozen stays. Then again, I go to the Orleans (and Vegas) primarily to play.

 

I was also concerned about the resort fee on a comp room and asked about it. They resort fee is waived on comp rooms. It's a universal email they send to paying and comp customers.

 

Same here. Actually put my cousin in comped room last week mon-weds, while wife and I stated at ballys! Played some Monday and Tuesday ( and at the Cal Tuesday). Absolutely no fees of any kind on check out!

 

I just checked my comped confirmation emails from Suncoast, MSS, and Orleans for my upcoming trip (booked through the BConnected website), and none mention anything about resort fees. The Gold Coast reservation required a phone call, but its manually initiated confirmation email was the same as the others.

However, going back, I did find a confirmation email from the Orleans as recently as December 31 of last year containing, "Does not include a nightly resort fee of $15.99 plus tax" and similar wording on earlier confirmations from all seven Vegas Boyd/Coast properties. Yes, it can be a bit disconcerting at first; but as others have said, the resort fee isn't imposed on comped rooms – or at least never has been for me. Interestingly, when I've had to call to change a reservation, the new email confirmation often doesn't even include the word "COMP." I always bring printouts of offers and confirmations just in case, but have never had to use them. I'm also pretty sure that if you don't play at all, the only impact will likely be to future offers.

 

Hmm that is high. But that doesn't surprise me because all these places just try to gorge you of all your money.

 

That isn't high. The strip is charging twice as much for resort fees and most don't offer any type of coffee or shuttle service. Considering what most hotels include in their fees, the Orleans is charging at least an understandable rate, even though no fee would be ideal.

 

Played a long Saturday night and a little bit on Sunday before skipping out of the Orleans. They still love me, no charges.

 

UPDATE: I obviously spoke too soon!!! No sooner had I posted about not seeing anything about resort fees on my reservation, the following email arrived last night: "The SunCoast is pleased to confirm your reservation for the dates … An additional $17.91 resort fee will be charged daily …"

Well, if I actually get charged on my comped room it will be the first time, but I don't think I've ever received a separate resort fee email either. I'm pretty sure the fee won't apply, but nonetheless, hate receiving mail like that. That's also the first time I've ever seen Suncoast spelled with a capital "C" in the middle. Even funnier is, "Should you need to cancel or change this reservation please visit our website at www.orleanscasino.com or call …" Now, why would they give a link to the Orleans instead of Suncoast? I guess I can now expect to receive similar emails from Gold Coast and Orleans. I wonder what link they'll include. NUTTY!

 

Turtleman, keep us posted on this. I am guessing the notification emails are probably lawyer generated legal CYA. Again, just guessing.

I'll report back after I return on Nov 1. Received a similar email from Gold Coast yesterday, but at least they gave a link to THEIR website.

I'm tempted to take your "insurance" bet, but suspect I'd be wasting a whole dollar! But thanks for the offer. Now I'll feel really bad if they stick it to me!

 

I've gotten that notice on each comped booking at the Orleans, but never been charged. I have three free nights at Sam's Town, but lost the confirmation email so I can't check that one. I book through B Connected so they keep under "tools" records of what I have reserved. Very helpful. Nothing there has any boilerplate on resort fees.
Once when I paid for Gold Coast rooms, I asked why they had not charged the resort fee at checkout. The clerk said it all depended on how the room was booked. I had not played much. I suspected that booking on B Connected might have eliminated the resort fee.
Once I had a worry and called. They said there was no resort fee for comped players. They had not seen my play yet, so I just thought it was boilerplate stuff that went out with all confirmations. Better for them waive a threatened fee than to impose one that had not been announced.
I'm moving away from both the strip and downtown and booking almost all offstrip. I really could not believe that Sam's Town sent me 3 free nights and even spread it over two months as I want the end of November and one day in December. I still can't believe the value that seniors get on a Wednesday at the Orleans. In both cases I only play nickel full pay VP. The Orleans is a triple play with progressives, but Sam's Town was just the full pay deuces which I read they have reduced in number.
I may have to got up to quarters this trip.

I also play live poker, but I don't expect that adds to offers.
It is hard to find better value, even if paying a resort fee. The free rooms through MyVegas cost more in resort fees than what I pay totally in some places, especially using American Casino Guide coupons or booking.com. There are cheaper resort fees off strip and close, but most of them are not desirable places to stay.
Downtown still offers bookings free of resort fees, and the El Cortez has a very cheap $9 resort fee.
I booked Boyd's resort fee free California for three nights at the end of my next trip for easy bus access to the airport. My issue with downtown is noise. I can't escape it, nor can many of my poker pals here at home. So at the end of my 20 day trip, if I'm kept awake, I'll just go home tired.
I have 5 days in Laughlin for a total of $137 at Tropicana, however, for November I was offered 3 free nights at Colorado Belle and I hope to score that for a weekend stay. I've booked two weekday nights there for $39 total, so I'll be ready for a 5 night stay. I play only live poker there. I can't beat it.
I'm starting to use the saved hotel room money for a rental car. If I am not driving downtown or on the strip, I figure I drop the odds of an accident. Going from Boulder Highway to Laughlin is a breeze as long as one minds the speed trap at Searchlight .
And I'm just not so good anymore of taking my 20 day luggage on and off some buses.
Station casinos that comp do not charge a resort fee. So I have one night at Redrock and my son has another, both tied together so we need not move. I had booked those two nights for $283 total, but now they are MyVegas free with the resort fee waived. My son and I spend most of our time hiking the canyon. When we play at night, we play full pay VP which in Station casinos does not generate comped rooms or points.
Whatever is played at the Boyd places does generate comps and points.

 

I had no resort fees in Oct. on my comped rooms at the Gold Coast and Orleans. This trip 10 nights total cost. 2 resort fees Aria $36, Palace Station $16.

 

Nice Keno. I'm happy that there are ways for the frugal still to enjoy Vegas

 

Currently at the Orleans (return to Atlanta tomorrow), but can confirm NO resort fees. I even asked about the fee email at Suncoast and was told they're always sent, shouldn't be sent, but can't be stopped! I guess 2016 technology can't handle such complex stuff! LOL Happy Halloween
