I feel bad that no one has replied--you and the lads are flying a long way! I'd like you to have a good experience. LV can be a bit of a shock for first-timers.

Where are you staying? What do you all like to do? Money is no object, or pinching pennies? Etc. That might help me (us?) provide a few more tips.

HI, Dave! I said "Hi" in the meet-and-greet section of the board, but I have a question for you!
You mentioned it's your first time to Vegas. Have any/How many of your 7 lads have been to Vegas before?
Thanks and again I wish you the warmest of welcomes to VMB!

Take your time and don't try to do everything at once. Good chance with 7 you will want restaurant reservations most places. Where are you staying?

    Hi Dave,

I replied in the "Introduce Yourself" section, but should have posted it here I guess:

Nice first trip, with 8 guys! What ever you do, I think you can't go wrong, but to answer you better (and for my own curiosity lol) a few questions:

    - For how long are you going?

    - Which hotel are you staying at and are you all at the same hotel?

    - Are you all in the same age group, or different generations?

As you're coming from England, I assume you will be there for longer than 3 nights. And as it's your first time, I guess you will be staying on the Strip. And since you are with 8 guys and chose the destination of Las Vegas, I can imagine you probably want to do some (if not a lot of) gambling and drinking.

Tbh gambling and drinking is about the only thing I did on my first trip. And I had a blast! Hooked for life haha. But based on the information you gave us I would say this:

Beer: TAG Sports Bar at the Linq (comped when you play bartop VP).

Casino/gambling (including comped drinks): Depending your age, if you're a young crowd: Cosmopolitan, Planet Hollywood, Cromwell, Flamingo/Margaritaville, otherwise: Caesars Palace, Casino Royale, Paris, Bally's, New York-New York (all the above are my own favorites, so other people might feel otherwise).

Pool time: Certainly rent a cabana for your group! When you split the cost, it's very affordable and it can still be hot out there. Be aware, drinks can be expensive!

Night life: Not sure if you are into clubbing, but I can only say, be prepared for long lines and drinks are expensive! Further you will have a blast ;-)

Downtown: If you will stay a bit longer, I would certainly spend an evening Downtown. It's a completely different vibe (a bit like a carnaval). For beers and gambling (and cheap but nice buffet) Downtown, Main Street Station.

Transportation: Download the apps from Uber and Lyft. You will all have your first rides for free (or with discount), so with 8 people, that's a lot of free rides.

Have a lot of fun!
And don't be shy to tell us all about it! :drunk:

    Hey Lady Fortuna,

We will be spending 4 nights at the bellagio and then a nice drive to Los Angeles for 3 nights. Im the youngest of the guys at 35 but the most around about 40 years old. Is it best to book tables now or when in vegas?

It depends if you have your mind set on certain restaurants already. In that case, why not, especially if they are popular places with long lines for example. But if everything is still open, I would rather go with the flow. There are so many nice options available and you probably won't know yet now where you will be around the time you want to have dinner.

    Advice:

    - Read as much on these boards as you can. Encourage others likewise.

    - Try to have some "free time" where you do not have to do what everyone else wants to do ( or can not decide)

    - Meals? You can reserve some in advance, but you really do not know what the mood and feel of the group will be till you get there (first day will be rough due to travel)

    - Don't complicate things where at all possible.
    - dinner/table for 7 is sometimes a challenge
    - avoid dealing with taxis when you can. There are LOTS of options near Bellagio

    - Is this the first for the entire group? That can change some things

    - Back to the most valued - read lots of the message on this board, then ask specific questions if you have them

I'd miss that out if I were you and stay in Vegas, I hated LA.

I was thinking that as well. Guessing their return flight is from LAX - but three days there vs more time in Vegas - well..... it would be less days than that for me.

A few months after your trip you will be talking about it with mates and it will go something like this.............. And then we went to LA for 3 days, but we wished we'd stayed in Vegas instead :)

Yes. LA is a one day trip tops. Hollywood is gonna be a big let down if that's what you had in mind as far as sight seeing. I've had some good times there but it was on tour in my band days and we had access to private events and parties. For your average tourist it's really lame. Not to say it isn't worth a one night stay but I wouldn't invest too heavily in.

If you do go, go to LA first, not last. It's better to end your trip out a high note plus the drive from LA to Vegas is exciting and iconic in a way.

Vegas is the the opposite of LA. It's bigger and better than you are probably expecting. That was certainly my impression on my first trip.

Book a limo service van to and from airport. Split eight ways it is very comparable to two taxis and is the bomb! We had seven guys in a van with a two hour minimum, "take us to a liquor store then drive us down the Strip".

BTW: Spending 4 nights at the Bellagio on your first ever trip to Las Vegas, amazing (you will be spoiled for life lol)! And all the casino's I mentioned earlier are right around there. You will have the time of your life!
