I got an email from Uber today announcing an interesting idea:
    ------------
Your ride. Your Music. Uber's cool new feature lets you listen to your music through your driver's stereo—no cables required. Pick your music straight from the app when your driver is enroute, and your song will play when you get in the car!

    Here's how it works:

♪ Once matched with a driver who has enabled
music, you'll see the music bar at the bottom
    of the screen.

♪ Tap the bar to sign up or log into a Pandora
    or Spotify Premium account.

♪ Once you're signed in, choose a song, station
or playlist to play. Music will play when your
    trip begins!

    -------------
We all have our own Vegas Soundtrack. What do you think about this idea? Would it make you choose Uber over Lyft to be able to hear "Your Song" on your ride from the airport?

As a driver I turned this feature off on my app. I shuttle around plenty of loud obnoxious drunks, I don't need loud obnoxious music to go with it. Usually the rides are so short they wont get through one song. Most of the drivers I personally know has turned this off, one will really give them a piece of his mind if they even touch his radio.

I think it's a cool idea. As a driver, I'd be fine with it as long as the rubes in my vehicle didn't insist I turn it up.

I remember one limo we got for the night for a bachelorette crawl. After pouring ourselves into the limo, they turned on the music and lights in the back. You should have seen this group of seemingly self-respecting women, singing along to Brick House. Oh lord! What a night! We were good tippers that night. Our poor driver. :haha:

Interesting to hear that the drivers aren't thrilled with this idea, especially since Uber wants their affiliates to promote it hard. I'd be interested to hear if any riders find a driver with this service turned on. I guess drivers can only hear "Luck Be a Lady" and "Viva Las Vegas" so many times from the airport. ;)

As I don't own a mobile phone, I would like to have my driver serenade me with some a cappella renditions of classics like "Viva Las Vegas," "What A Wonderful World," or "The Thong Song."

UPDATE: My bride just informed me that one of the three songs I mentioned is NOT a classic.
Darn. I thought "What A Wonderful World" had passed the test of time.
    Lesson learned!

I always thought it would be funny if one of the gondoliers went rogue and wailed out "I'm too sexy" or something from the Sir Mix-A-Lot catalogue. In a Viennese accent of course....
