Cosmopolitan... it has officially jumped to our top spot, and the slots are much looser!

After another great trip to Vegas, I had to give a huge shout-out to The Cosmopolitan. Many of us have benefited from Kevin Sweet's generous promotions, myself being one of them.

I have been shocked to see how passionate Cosmo is about treating their guests like gold, and their generous player rewards program, Identity. I've always been Mlife, but Identity, for us, offers us much, much more value for tier progression, to the point Mife perks are a little disappointing for me now, even hitting platinum with Mlife. (Identity Gold gives two free nights annually, two COMPANION room nights, BOGO Wicked Spoon, late check-in/check-out when available, and then some!)

The Cosmo hotel is gorgeous. The rooms are my favorite on the strip (we've stayed in the suite and the terrace one bedroom, both are stellar with breathtaking views), and their food choices are also our favorite.

But, with slots being my poison of choice gaming-wise, it really makes a difference for me if casino has tight or "looser" slots.

On this trip, I don't know if it was just me, but the slots felt a good chunk looser...and due to this final part of the equation, I enjoyed my play at Cosmo more than any other hotel we stayed at this trip...it's officially our favorite spot on the strip now, to stay and play.

I also think it is important to note that they can be very generous with free nights if you play enough (with or without a host), so this is DEFINITELY a spot to focus your play, if you like free nights in gorgeous accomodations. :)

We checked out on Sunday and the place was PACKED with people checking in, and even despite booking two months out, they were already selling out eve two months in advance, so if you DO want to try Cosmo, book in advance.

P.S. Loved the Flora and Fauna drink at Chadelier bar!

One final plus they DON'T advertise...they've been running "get one free" wicked spoon buffet for your first $500 in on slots, TWO free on your first $1000 in on slots. So, if you're new to Cosmo, this promo it itself is worth giving them a spin, as it's a buffet that even non-buffet people give a thumbs up to. :)

Agree. Cosmo is my favorite. Seems to me that lately they have really amped up their marketing. It's nice to see, although they tend to be catering these ads to the club group.

Looking forward to my stay in mid-October. Hope the slots are good to me. Will check out the HL area and try some VP in there.

I agree @Multifarious5 - another thanks to @Cosmopolitan_SlotVP for reaching out to VMB members - I hope he keeps us (Vegas Message Board) on his radar with future updates about changes and upcoming events at Cosmo.
We also stayed at Cosmo for the first time this year as a result of his generous match offer and stayed again after receiving a good offer from a host and plan to stay again for sure. They had me at the terrace fountain views :woohoo:plus a great host.

Still trying for that first hand pay at Cosmo - in my own personal experience, slots seem tighter at Cosmo than at my Mlife haunts - but I keep trying! I also like that Cosmo seems to have the latest slots.

Thanks for sharing your recent experience with us - any new favorite places to eat at Cosmo?

Cosmo has been one of our favorite places since they opened. Love the property, and you are right about the the rooms Being some of the nicest on the strip. Haven't had much luck there gambling wise, not from lack of trying. Unfortunately, they don't appreciate quarter video poker players like us as much as MLife or Total Rewards. We still get better offers from them. We still like going to the Cosmo, and hopefully we can still continue to get a couple of comped nights every 4 months. So glad you had a good experience with them and sounds like you had a good trip.

So glad to hear that your trip was great, and how much you loved the Cosmo! I certainly had good luck on my last trip there. Plus I like the fact that I can play the themed machines without apparently being punished for them as the M Life properties do.

Which level is the Flora and Fauna drink on? What machines did you have the most fun on?

Cosmo is a great place to stay. I would hesitate labeling any casino, especially on the strip, as having loose slots. It's all anecdotal. For you the slots seem loose since you've won some cash. Many others would say they're tight since they've lost :)

Having dodged the strip completely for three-four years looks like my December trip will include a run to Aria and Cosmo, so many great things said about both properties on this forum plus it's time to see what's new on stripville

Agree re: anecdotal about loose slots. I want to love Cosmo but all they ever do is take my money  Throw me a frickin bone! ;)

I guess we're the odd man out but that's true for all of Vegas properties. Some people love what other people hate. Kevin graciously offered us each some minimal FP to just stop in and see the property which was very nice of him to do. We like the grand hotel entrance like Bellagio, Mirage and Wynn so entering thru the parking garage seemed weird. Then once inside it seemed dark and grey and all the glass chandeliers were just not warm but instead it all felt kind of cold to us. But as they say to each their own and I think it's a good thing that we all like different places or we'd all be jammed into the same resort! :). In the defense of COSMO fans, we didn't see the rooms and I'm sure that balcony view is awesome but we just spend too much time in the casino to stay somewhere we didn't feel the vibe.

I can't go along with you on the slots being looser, but I do love the Cosmo. It was the first resort I ever walked into on the strip, so it will always have a special resonance for me. With maybe a couple rare exceptions I go into Cosmo every day I'm in town. I love the vibe of the place, great energy; the casino is the perfect size, not enormous so you get lost but plenty big to where you can still find a quiet corner and grind away on your fave slot. Love the bars and want to explore the restos much more.

I've only STAYED there once, in a Terrace One Bedroom facing the fountains, and it was mind-blowing. Best room I've ever stayed in, Vegas or otherwise.

I'm falling afoul of Mlife for not playing enough (was Gold, now Pearl and falling fast) and don't care much for TR resorts (though I'm trying out PH due to being comped this next trip) so I think next year I'm going to really double down and spend a lot of time and effort trying to make a dent in Indentity.

I've only been to Cosmo once. I'm going to check it out on my next trip in 3 weeks.

Is it true they don't rate table play? I play slots but I'm very picky. hopefully I can play something that will put me on their radar.

I cannot wait to stay at Cosmo in January, (another one who got a great match offer from Kevin) Coming from the UK twice a year, I usually stay half at a mlife property (high gold just short of platinum ) and half at Wynn and more recently Palazzo (gold) After my host left Palazzo, I got a new host who is pretty useless and never replies to my emails so I'm looking for a new property to be my (second half) home property.
I'm excited to hear all the great things about the Cosmo, I do hope they get the players club online soon, as a player from the UK, I like to see my offers online.
I only play slots, and hope to make gold on my second trip in July, (going by my coin in)

Thank you for all the feedback so far.

Baccarat is my usual game but I think I may give their slots a try for my upcoming trip this NYE.

Thanks for the buffet tip! :)

Hi all, thanks for the great welcome back, definitely took the post-Vegas blues away!

VegasVic, you totally caught me....I used "looser" as it's a relational term, notice I purposely didn't say "loosest" or "loose". I almost gave more details on why I said "looser," but figured "looser" was subjective enough to be safe... I should know I can't slide one by you eagle-eyed VMBers!

I picked "looser" because, Cosmo has given us two, great almost free trips. On our first trip though, I lost my butt on slots. "Looser" was compared to my last trip. I try to give honest reviews, but I never want to reward someone's generosity with a negative comment, so I just stayed quiet. On my last trip, I purposely stayed quiet about the gambling portion, but on this trip, I felt they were looser compared with my last stay at Cosmo---so I was comfortable giving props this time around. I even found then looser than Aria this trip, which usually does ok for me, ergo, that's what I meant by "looser." :)

Chuck, I was grinning on the Golden Pineapple comment. We did NOT try it this trip, but you absolutely came up in the conversation when we were ordering, and we came close. I just didn't see it on the menu and was distracted by the Flora and Fauna drink. (Upper level Chandelier bar.) If I see anything with a spice or basil undertone, I'm hooked, and the flora and fauna has a chili pepper undertone, so I was a goner as soon as I saw it. Next time, I'll be brave and order off menu. At Todd English's "Olives", I love their Melody drink (no longer on menu), and they still serve it, so I will definitely ask next time.

Geogran, you caught me too...no new restaurant reviews! I call myself frugal decadent. I like to play more and keep food closer to the RC budget, so RC dictates what we try. On this trip, we always have lighter RC for summer offers, so I stuck with my old haunts....Holstein's (again A+++), Wicked Spoon, Olives, 550, and Diablos. Depending on my spring offers, I do want to try Estiatorio Milos, The Henry or Beauty and Essex, if RC allows. I DID finally have the Beef Carpaccio at Olives and was in heaven....that has definitely become a staple of any future trip.

Josie Cat, you actually had a great point on themed slots being looser at Cosmo than Mlife, maybe that's why I had so much fun. At Mlife, I've grown to avoid themed slots like the plague. They're fun, but money hogs. My favorite slot at Cosmo this trip? As a 40 year old, I am cringing to say this, but the Brittany Spears slot was my slot of choice. If it's off, it's off, but when it's on? I actually had the most fun on that game, possibly in all of my slots years. Now, if I can just get "Baby hit me one more time" out of my head. ;)

Dean, totally get it on ambiance, that is crucial that it gels with you. I tend to like old world versus too modern, but for me, Cosmo has enough old world oppulance, I love it. Also, loved your trip report, great job, I really enjoyed reading it!

FMY and Sam, definitely give Cosmo some play. I was hardcore Mlife and didn't think anything could turn my head, but Cosmo really does take care of it's guests, and gives great rewards. As long as they keep this up, they'll be my number one. "Hit me baby one more time!" Ok, though I might not forgive them for drilling Brittany into my head :grrr:

Again, back to point 1, I totally agree with VegasVic that "loose" or "tight" are so subjective, not just even per hotel, but per trip. I've found machines one trip do great and bomb the next, but I DID absolutely feel the slots were looser overall at Comso this trip, versus our last, so I had to give props on that! Also, I STILL absolutely vote Cosmo as THE most generous with promos on anyplace we've stayed on the strip. As long as we stay on their radar and they keep taking such great care of us, it's our new home, and I am still grateful to Kevin Sweet for being so generous with new players, thank you!

They do rate table play and it factors into offers. They don't give Identity Points (Express Comps-type points) for it though. And they say it factors into tier progression, but by some secret formula they don't really disclose.

Cosmo unfortunately uses "exact theo" when rating VP, so the better paytable you play, the less theo you get. And the comp rate for a basic room on a weekday is probably around $100, so they probably expect almost $10k coin-in a day of 6/5 Bonus poker or 8/5 DDB (~$300 theo) just to cover the room on a weekday. That's a lot of quarter play! The comp rates for many CET rooms are lower for sure.

Generally speaking, I really like this property and its pool, and if I had more money, would consider splurging there.
