Thanks for sharing, it shows the benefits of uber/lyft vs cabs. How do you decide when to use lyft vs uber?

It was our first time using ride share, it was a great experience. Cars were all spotless, drivers were entertaining.

Used uber from airport to Cosmo yesterday. Estimate was 11 and change. She took the tunnel to freeway, went too far and backtracked on the strip. Came to 18+. I contacted uber to tell them of the long haul. They sent email saying price was reasonable. I sent back that it wasn't explaining why and got a refund of $6+

First time ever having issues with uber/Lyft.

It seems odd that from the airport to Paris the estimate shows taking the tunnel and the freeways. Wit the fare being $13-$16.

    Jerry D,

When I typed in "McCarran Terminal 1" or "Terminal 3" as the starting point, the route used the north exit via Paradise / Swenson.

    Cheers,
    cmasia

Edit: When I do use Uber, however, I always give the driver directions, as their maps are not the most accurate.

I use an app called GOA2B. It compares all travel options and prices.

I've also used Uber in the UK and Russia, and I found that Uber drivers in Vegas went out of their way to stress that they must follow the map. I wasn't even offering directions and they would make statements to that effect. It was almost like they were afraid of being accused of long hauling.

Here are some Uber examples from my recent trip:
Airport to El Cortez $20.50 (went down the Strip on a Saturday nigh)
    El Cortez to PH $12.25
Neon Museum to Mandalay Bay $14.40
    Encore to Downtown $9.10

My husband does Uber part time & will go whatever way customer requests... But not much issue with "long-hauling" here

As a driver for Uber/Lyft I always follow the maps unless the rider gives specific instructions, even if I know the way. I do not want to be accused to taking the long way or adding to their bill. If the way the rider instructs me to go is known to be longer, i let them know so they can decide if they want to pay the higher fee or take the route the GPS indicates.

Happy with both--drivers personable and engaged, cars clean, driving excellent. Tipped both very well!

We are a 50s couple who kept hearing about Uber/Lyft. Finally tried it last trip....was nervous at first and it was so easy. We used them several times. We normally walk to Ellis Island from the strip. It was 107 degrees, so we called for a lift. With our $5 off coupon for new members, it was $3. Will never use a cab again. Everyone was SO friendly!
