LOL, neither of the above! When I was a grad student decades ago I worked across the hall from a Gross Lab. Seen enough of it so I sure don't need to pay to see it! :)

We have done the one at Luxor. The one at Ballys is way too new to know much.

I have read that they are bodies from Chinese debtors prisons, sold by prison managers without the permission of the prisoners before they died or their families. Personally I find that very objectionable.

There is a similar exhibition in Europe with an educational mission that ensures the people voluntarily participate before they die.

There is great narration of the Bally's exhibit on the latest vitalvegas.com podcast.

Sorry......don't know how to copy then post the exact link with my phone.

Scott Roben, the guy who writes Vital Vegas is a great interviewer and went through the whole exhibit with the curator. Really interesting stuff and Roben asks all the questions I would have asked, plus a couple really funny ones.

No idea which is the better exhibit though. Sounded interesting enough that I might go to the Bally's one, never would have really thought of it before. Plus it's next to the Book

Oh man, that's sad........I knew they were Chinese people, I just assumed it was like our driver license donor thing. Hope it's not true, but prisons are weird places.

Yea, I heard that too back when it toured the U.S.. If you look at their face closely you can tell they're Asian.

Body Worlds was touring for a few years (may still be) and it was excellent. And apparently they have a LOT of people who have signed up to donate voluntarily.

There are a couple of documents on this:

    an article from NPR

    http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5637687

and another one from Prison Legal News

    https://www.prisonlegalnews.org/news/2009/mar/15/dead-bodies-at-bodies-exhibit-may-be-8232executed-chinese-prisoners/

However, I didn't see any "paper trail" that convinced me one way or the other, just the Chinese track record and anecdotal evidence on their treatment of prisoners.

I'm not interested in the exhibit either way, so I have no "dog in this fight".

That's my personal position, but if the post is going to stay up here, I'd like a little more than the internet version of Telephone. Thanks for the articles. Everyone will have to decide for themselves.

I know that the one at the Luxor is based on the exhibition that toured. I went to see it at OMSI, and they stressed that the models were of volunteer donors. It would kill (no pun intended) one of the casinos PR if they had an exhibition that was based on Chinese prisoners.
