Can you pay cash for an Uber in Las Vegas?

No. You need to have a credit card on file and they charge your card automatically. It is meant to be completely cashless. Drivers can accept cash tips though.

    I think PayPal works too.

Thanks. I wondered. I use a CAD credit card, and sometimes travelling in the states, i have found a fun ''foreign exchange tax fee" on my statement. Its been over 10% at some places. On top of the horrible exchange we're experiencing now, it becomes pricey.

You should check out the Amazon.ca Visa card (no fee) or the Marriot Rewards Visa ($120 fee IIRC) - both of these do not charge any foreign exchange markup. Alternatively, get a US$ credit card - most of the major banks offer them, but for a nominal fee. I use one from BMO, but they waive the $35 fee if I use it for a minimum of $1,000 of transactions per year. A US$ card is also handy for paying deposits on Vegas hotel rooms - your card will get a refund if you cancel a room booking without worrying about foreign exchange rate fluctuations.
