well at least that's what I hear about The Matingale... Lol...
I personally don't really have betting system I go by... I try to stay under 1k per hand (1500 to 2k being max EVER bet) I only play baccarat and I have seen all types of betting system but I just don't know if anybody stick with their system for long time or not...

Does anybody ever or use regular base on betting system on table games? I'm assuming slot doesn't really have any betting system....

    Check out http://www.gamblingwithanedge.com/
    Their podcast is very entertaining.
They don't promote any sort of betting system (because they don't work), but they do discuss looking for opportunities where various promotions, or mis-configured slots/video poker can push a positive EV.

I love reading about systems. The Martingale is a classic. So is the Fibonacci. Neither of which of course changes the house edge.

I actually got into an argument with an accountant buddy of mine over the Martingale system. He heard about it, but he wasn't a gambler. I told him about table limits, and if he got in too deep he might not be able to bet enough to make the system work. That didn't sink in.

So I gave him real world math on 6 loosing bets in a row, which happens. Start with $50 and lose. Now that turns into $100 to $200 to $400 to $800 to $1,600 so if you don't win by 6 you are now betting $3,200 to actually "win" $50. If you can even place a bet that high!

In the end, he didn't have the stomach to risk so much, so he was out LOL. With 8 loses in a row, and $12,800 on the table, thats a huge risk for your $50.00 reward.

So yes, the system does work. IF you have a huge bankroll and IF you find a casino that will allow you to double up every single time. You will always end up one unit. But thats a whole lotta IF's

I always tell my Circus-Circus story whenever someone I know suggest 'martingale'...
I was playing a two-deck $5 blackjack game there back in the 90s.
I got twelve hard-12s in row, against a dealer 7 or better. I hit every one of them. I busted on every one of them.
Fortunately, I had learned the folly of martingale many years earlier, and was betting $5 or $10 per hand...so, I lost about $100.
Had I employed martingale, here's what would have happened:
    $5-$10-$20-$40-$80-$160-$320-$500(table-limit) - $500 - $500 - $500 - $500... I would have lost $3135.

Positive progression strategies are far less dangerous, as you're only putting "won" money at risk (above your initial bet at the table minimum).
But to be clear - there is no "betting strategy" that can ever overcome the house advantage in any table game. None.

Forget discussing a betting system, the math alone on getting the same hand with the same bust twelve times in a row is absurd, especially on a double deck game. That means you received 75% of the tens in the shoe as your third card

Yup, most of us have learned, there is no real system that will work all the time. If there were a system that works everyone would be using it but many of these "gurus" make a lot of money off of people who will pay them to learn their system.

UK...that was over the course of two decks...and my hard-12s were certainly not all 10-2 hands... some of them were even 3-card 12s (like 2-4, hit a 6, hit a 10)...and some of the hits were not 10s either... such as 12, hit a 2, hit an 8.

But yeah - even so - I realize that the odds of such an event (twelve 12s, busting with 22 - all in a row), would have to be extraordinary.
My point in telling the tale is to counter those who irrationally suggest that "losing 8 in a row never happens" (which is typically the number of hands needed in martingale to reach a table-max bet).
Losing 8 (or more) in a row has happened to me plenty of times... the Circus-Circus story is just my most colorful example of it.

Martingale will work with an unlimited bankroll and no table limits.

Unfortunately, neither one of those exist.

But seriously, I got into a little hole of reading people's "systems." For a while I had a Kindle Unlimited subscription and there were a ton of what seem to be self-published tomes on roulette, craps, blackjack, etc that I could read for free. Some of them had the basic advice you can find anywhere online along with going over the classic systems like martingale. But some had batshit crazy "systems" for winning that I found highly entertaining.

My vegas-buddy thought he had learned a fool-proof craps strategy, but wanted to try it out at low limits...so we played bubble craps.
He played his "strategy" and I played how I normally do... he lost $100...I won $96.

Why does the original poster say that he tries to stay under $1,000 per hand and call himself a low roller? Wait, my $10 bets are all under $1000 also. I get it.

Martingale is nonsense. The "goal" with that system is to win one unit. Problem is that you will hit the maximum bet if you go on a really cold streak and not be able to recover your one unit.

If you are referring to the caption under the OP's username, that is a feature from VMB itself and says how active you are on the board (not if you are a high-roller or low-roller in gambling).

I don't know how the counting goes, but something like: up to a 100 posts you're a tourist, 100-500 posts a low-roller, etc. At some point you get the privilege to adjust it to your liking (at least that's what it looks like from the profiles of the members with a lot of posts, but please correct me if I'm wrong).

I lost 20 hands in a row playing 4 deck head to head on new shoe here in the UK a couple of years ago. 20 hands at £10 is not a fortune but to see the dealer win every single hand with no pushes is the worst beat I ever took. I was astonished, but not really that surprised. If you play enough you see everything and that puts the end to nearly any betting system ever invented. I use my own modified positive progression and I can usually win 60% of my sessions, but the winning sessions do not make up for the higher losing sessions. I play for entertainment, enjoy my wins when they happen and try to restrict my losses.

Hey now, your Vegas buddy is here reading and I don't remember saying that strategy was fool-proof. You got lucky that day and I didn't. By the way, I would suspect that everyone who plays craps has a betting strategy otherwise you might as well just throw a handful of chips on the table and play them were they land! I wonder if that would work?

My buddy just now sent me an e-mail wanting me to correct the record on this post!
He reminded me that he never claimed it was "fool-proof"...which is obviously true... if he thought it was fool-proof, he would have skipped bubble-craps and immediately went to a real crap table & bet as much as he could!

PS - why are you hurting the cat in your avatar photo?
Did he give you bad craps advice?
