Orleans, Did I make the right choice?

I go to Vegas 2 times a year, and my wife never joins me. She decided this trip (December) she really wants to go. My home Vegas Casino has been Palace Station. It is a long story but they treated me well my first trip back in 1992 and I stay there most times when I am alone. When I tried to explain Palace Station to my wife, she says it sounds seedy (I think it is). I wanted an off-strip option, did I make the right choice in the Orleans? I booked us in a One Bedroom Executive Suite. Has anyone stayed in one? She can't bring herself to play $10 blackjack, will she be able to find that there consistently? Anything I should ask for in room selection (is there some tower or side of the hotel with a better view)?

Thanks so much for your help, I won't be a Orleans noob much longer.

I think you've made a good choice. My wife likes Orleans. A large property, with many, good restaurant choices. I've never stayed in a suite, although I've seen pics. I believe most/all face the Strip .. ask for that view, anyway.

$10 BJ easily. You can probably find some $5 too.

Compared to strip hotel rooms the Orleans standard room is a suite. Set your wife up with any treatment at their spa. It's a good value and you will have some time alone and reap further benefits.

 

I had my first stay at Orleans in April and loved it. (we've stayed at Gold Coast a number of times). Lots of dining options. I know it's not pool weather, but the pool is quite nice. Some of the hallways are quite long, I asked for, and received a room fairly close to the elevator. Some like to be further, but not me!

 

Orleans is fun and huge. Lots to do and eat there. Take the shuttle to Gold Coast also!

Even though I live here, I spend a night or two there every month just to get away.

Get a room a on high floor - above 10 - with a low, even number...like 1806, 1808, etc. Excellent strip view.

Alder & Birch is the new steak house and it's terrific, with a very good happy hour from 4 to 6.
Ondori has very good Chinese and a good Happy Hour from 2 - 4.
Prime Rib Loft is still a good choice, as well as Big Al's.
Subway and Fuddruckers to fix your hangovers.
They even have a good liquor store with decent prices.
Heck, I even like the $1.50 hot dog in the sports book.

Lots of $5 BJ during the day and $10 PGP day and night.

Directly out the west door, cross the street and stop in McMullans Irish Pub. Large beer selection and a good daily happy hour.

My only quibble is the 1mb internet included in the RF.
They want $10 to bump that to 10mb.

We have stayed there for the last 5 years and keep going back when we want to head to the strip we just jump on the shuttle and go!

 

I like playing there more than staying there but it's a good value. The casino is always fun (at least table games).

 

been staying at the Orleans since 2004. it's our favorite in LV. make sure u get a B-Connected card. enjoy!!

 

First off, we just got back from staying at the Orleans. As many replys have stated dont even have a concern about staying here, its the best. This is the only place we stay. I must be honest, we dont like the strip at all, its just to big a hassle, bad odds, more expensive, but thats just our opinion. People new to Vegas like all the flash so they maybe should stay on the strip, everyone has their desires regarding what they like while staying in Vegas. Never stayed in a suite at the Orleans, but I am sure they are great. Have fun

 

We stay there twice a year and love it. Plenty of low stakes gambling available. Lots of food choices including a good buffet. Nice pool. 18 screen movie theater if you want a break from gambling. 72 lane bowling center that is open 24 hours. Friendly staff. Free shuttle to the strip. I've never had a suite so I can't answer for that. We always have a premium room and they are very nice.

 

I've never used the shuttles previously, but am thinking of staying at either GC or Orleans next summer.

I have to use a mobility scooter in Vegas, because my ms causes me to have problems walking any distance, so was wondering if the shuttles have spots for scooters, or would I need to just use the special cabs?

No problem for her on the BJ. Just left there last week playing a DD pitch game $5 pays 3/2 for BJ. Lost my ass but still had a blast!!
Room view doesn't matter, you're gonna be downstairs gambling most of the time while you are there.

The Orleans is a good choice. The shuttle will get you to the strip or the Gold Coast, which is near the Palms and Rio. Lots of good mid range food options, very good gambling conditions and their premium rooms are nice. I'm sure their suites are up to standards. It's also an easy trip to and from the airport or the south strip.

 

First stayed there in 2004 and have now stayed there 15 times so I will not dispute your choice. Curious what the suite is like so please let us know. Casino can get very smokey at times and the hotel has a lot of families staying there so maybe more little critters than I would prefer. Hallways are very long so hopefully you won't have too much of a hike. Otherwise, just a great place to stay for a couple of days.

 

We're there now. Not too crowded or smokey. One room tip ... if you really don't a view, ask for 8th or 9th floor, 'near the elevators' (basically, a room ending in xxx3x to xxx5x. Separate set of elevators (to the left of the Security Guard) which only go to 9th floor. Much less crowded than the main elevators. About 50' from the elevator to our room. A nice pool view, too.

The Orleans is always a good choice!

 

I like playing there but I've never stayed there, but I would consider it. The one thing I would say is to avoid the buffet. Easily the worst buffet I've ever been to. Plenty of other decent eateries there. I did enjoy the oyster bar tremendously. Hope you have a fun trip.
