Hi first time in Vegas , thought we would stay at the MGM Grand , but confused about which room. Can get a reasonable price for four nights on a Grand King room (Total price $546.) . With a $150'resort credit through Royal Carribean club
I have read that the West wing is no good . Is the Grand King in the the West Wing?
Other option I see is I have started playing Myvegas and it gives you a reduced rate of $75.00 per night in a signature room , but I can't find a signature room on the MGM webpage.
Are either rooms okay ? I want a nice room with a view that won't break the bank. ( Am an Aussie so have to add in the exchange rate [emoji45]

Grand rooms are their basic rooms NOT in the West Wing. West Wing rooms are smaller and "more cozy" than Grand room. The benefit of the West Wing rooms is you are very close to the Strip from the elevators. I don't know for sure, but I would assume all West Wing rooms have a Strip view, but don't hold me to that.

Signature rooms are in the Signature towers behind the MGM Grand and will require a lot of walking just to get back to the MGM hotel itself. they really aren't a part of the MGM hotel. You can see their rooms here.

West Wing rooms are in what was formerly a cinderblock motel before the rest of MGM Grand was built. I image a couple of rooms on each floor have a view, but I stayed in one once, and the window was tiny (maybe 2 feet by 2 feet) and it was behind the headboard of the bed, and when I say behind, I mean behind, not above. It is a room for people who spend no time in the room. You can book it online, but I expect it is mostly sold in package deals by aggregators.

"Grand" rooms are MGM Grand's standard room, and they are all fine, they are not in the West Wing. You should look at Google maps using earth view to see the shape of the property and how it is situated. It's shaped like a "+", so the further down the hallway you are, the better the view will be. The closer to the center core, the more an adjacent wing will block the view.

MGM Signature is a separate property consisting of 3 buildings that are more like a hotel/apartment tower. It's affiliated with MGM Grand, but a little bit of a walk to actually get to MGM Grand where the restaurants and casino are. Again, check Google maps to see where it is situated.

Yep. It used to be the 'Marina' hotel before MGM assimilated it back in the mid-90s.

Just so you know, MGM casino is HUGE! We were literally still getting lost our third day in. It is also towards the end of the strip. I always recommend to first timers to stay on the strip, mid strip. Aria is nice. It is considered the strip but it's a bit of a hike getting to it. Have you considered Cosmopolitan?

Do you have players cards from MGM or any Harrahs casinos you may have visited elsewhere? You could get discounted rates if so.

If you tell us a little more about who is going, the board can give really good recommendations

    Have fun planning.

I second the Cosmo. It may cost a little more, but if you get a balcony room (especially one facing north) its well worth it. We've stayed at most of the Caesars and MGM resorts, but Cosmo is our home! Location, rooms, restaurants and vibe in the casino are all exactly what we love about Vegas.

    Where to begin......

    - So I'm old enough to remember when they converted the rooms to the "West Wing". Never stayed in them. Reviews were not great, but really depends on what you are looking for.
    - Grand rooms are what I call Vegas Deluxe Standard. Decent size. Good basic accommodations.
    - The Signature was actually built as shared condos. This means someone else owns them and they "rent" them through an agreement with MGM. Again, I'm old enough to remember watching them being built. While I never stayed in one, they are above average rooms. And yes, the Sig complex is detached from the MGM itself, so there is more walking.
    - Here's my take on the location: 1) you've got several hotels within "reasonable" walking distance. 2) You also have a monorail station, which takes you to many other hotels on the strip.
    - Finally, Yes MGM Grand is HUGE. That is why they call it the City of Entertainment. But I stayed there many times over the years and always enjoyed it.
    - If you do stay there, ask for a strip view, close to the elevators.

    My 2 cents.

    Enjoy your trip to VEGAS!

Husband and Myself going , early fifties , Australian never been to Vegas , Pretty much Newbie Gamblers def not high rollers , Zero interest in pools/swimming,
Not much interest in night clubs

Four night visit , Want to see a show ( maybe cirque de soleil ) spend some money ( not too much) on the slots , have a go at the tables and not feeling totally out of place because I don't know what I'm doing !! I like good sheets good bed nice room , reasonable food , not too far to walk to things. Won't have a car
Have started playing My Vegas getting a few points and have an offer of resort credit at some hotels through Royal carribean but that's it for any discounts.

Want a decent room that feels a little luxurious ..but doesn't cost me a fortune [emoji848]

...and husband wants one he doesn't have to stand 40 minutes in a queue to check in !,! A few Facebook posts complaining about the MGM Grand taking that long .

.always wanted to go to Vegas ..just once to see "How everything's Big in Vegas " Feel the excitement , see the shows (hopefully win some money but probably lose it) and have my luxury room to retreat too

The west wing was the old Marina hotel. To this day I do not know why the preserved that part of the hotel when building the MGM Grand.

We stayed in the old west wing back in 1995 and the rooms ARE small.

    From another website:

"Then the Marina Hotel and Casino was purchased in 1990 by new owners, the intention was to entirely demolish the hotel and start a new building from scratch. Upon reviewing the building, however, it was noted how structurally sound the architecture was, which meant that the potential existed to expand instead of demolish. The areas around the Marina Hotel And Casino building were demolished, leaving only the original 714 rooms."

I just spent three nights in a Grand Tower room, I paid $55.00/n before resort fees and was not overly impressed... The rooms don't strike me as ones you would expect in a "luxury hotel".. If you are getting your offers from MLife you probably can stay in the Aria for $20.00/night more? if so, spend the extra $$. The rooms are 10x better and the location is mid strip.

I'm in my 50's also (gulp!). When are you going?

Aria is nice but I mentioned earlier it is a bit of a walk to get to the strip. Maps are deceiving as everything looks really close but they aren't. I like Aria, it's a beautiful resort. I was there right after it opened and had a great time. It was packed and everyone was having a great time. Went back to see a show there last December and found it kind of depressing. Very few people, certainly no happy, winning people. I played some slots, hubbie played tables for a bit. No wins. We just didn't like the quiet, almost depressing vibe and probably won't be back

I would bet that Bellagio, Paris or Cosmopolitan would be your best bet

I've seen all the Cirque shows. The one I think is the best , by far, is Love at Mirage. I don't even like the Beatles but I've been to this show twice and would go again.

We don't do clubs either but we try and get to a dueling piano bar every time we go. The one at Paris is our favorite.

Aria would be slightly better if it fits your budget, because of the location - it's closer to the center point of the Strip. And it's a little more luxurious.

Otherwise, a Grand room at MGM Grand will be fine, and that price is OK if it includes resort fee and taxes. If it's your first trip, you don't want to stay at Signature, because you'll have to leave the building for everything. You want to be in the middle of the action.

These are the prices I have
    4 nights 20 November, - 24 November

Aria Deluxe King room , includes resort fees and taxes. $595
    Includes $200 Resort credit

The Cosmopolitan City Studio room , inc resort fees & taxes $654
    No Resort credit

The Bellagio , Run of the house room, inc resort fees & taxes $ 721
    Includes $200 Resort credit

( I thought they were good prices although sadly I will have to convert that into Aussie dollars then they don't look as good )

Think I have ruled out MGM ,

There is a daily resort fee at Cosmo, not sure why this isn't being disclosed but I'd hate for a surprise $30+ day fee added on. Also, the room selected there will not have a patio

I don't think Bellagio is worth the extra $130 over Aria. I think the basic room at Aria edges out Bellagio's basic offering.

Aria is the best value out of those three. You should look at lots of pictures and videos of Bellagio and Aria to see which one you prefer, it might make Bellagio worth the extra money.

I like Cosmo and stay there every trip, but that price for a City Room is way out of line by comparison, especially when you consider the Resort Credit you're getting at Aria or Bellagio.

Out of those 3, Aria would be a no-brainer for me. You are going to be walking a lot no matter where you are in Vegas and I like to be near the tram line between Aria and Bellagio.
